ha ha. I didn't know you were on DA either! I just noticed your DA link on your LJ site. Currently, I don't have much free time(you know what I'm reading in the free time I do have, heh heh), so my DA site is very bare. Soon, though, I'll spiff it up ... (and get a decent icon)

hahahh XDD okay... i see that your DA's still empty. ^^ do you draw? or take photos? or create literatures? ^^ it still amazes me about what people do on DA. some of them are truly amazing.

I'm so embarassed. I'm SUCH a lurker. I came to DA because I saw some fantastic space art (I'm into astronomy) and then found loads of other interesting stuffs, so I stayed. I do write, but it is academic writing at the moment. I don't think many people are interested in my work on Wittgenstein's remarks on hinge propositions and the inherited background in his latter work and how this relates to how we treat what other people tell us. Deep heavy philosophical work is my 'day job' so I want something to take my mind off my work. I love Fluff! Of course, my work never really leaves my mind even when I'm reading manga or watching film. My research is tied to ordinary language as well, so I don't feel too guilty spending time 'outside' academia. I get blocks of free time at really odd times; for the others I just come on to clear my mind a bit. It's always interesting to see what others are putting up on their sites. I wish I had the energy to be so creative, but at the moment all my energy is going into my research. (of course, I include yaoi in my research interests, ha ha). But don't tell my PhD supervisor, heh heh.

hah hah (hysterical laughter). It's not that I'm smart, I am simply obsessed. It takes me forever to get a decent paragraph. And I can't go anywhere without my dictionaries. (in fact, I currently have on my PDA 5 different dictionaries (Oxford - OED - are the best), plus an encyclopaedia for those times when I want that instant answer. Am I lame or what?). I've got what Wittgenstein calls, 'the Philosophical Disease'. Meaning that I can't stop thinking about philosophical issues. Mine are: how is it that our mind and our body is connected? How does our world-view affect the way we treat the world around us? What are the limits of language? "The limits of our language is the limit of our world" - how is this so? What does it take for someone to know something from being told?
sigh. I'm doing it again, sorry. I'll just say that when I want to escape from my work (see the above issues), I go read (manga, mysteries, sci-fi, cheesy romance novels) and watch cinema (action flicks, sci-fi, mystery, etc). The issues I'm working with seem to creep into what ever I end up watching or reading anyway. At the moment I am staying away from anything with too much angst (I do understand that many very good works are in this area), but I have too much going on in RL to get it in my so-called downtime. (manicial laughter here - research students don't get downtime - we're on it 24/7). When I'm finished with my current research, I'll be able to watch/read the agnsty stuff, so I'm keeping a list, ha ha.
I like your signature, by the way!

lol... XD my sig? it's from xxxholic. yeah, my fave anime still. a lot to learn from that one.
and about having that disease, it might be that you think too much about something. ^^ some people are like that. i'm like that, about certain things. XD so i can understand a little. sometimes it makes me unable to take a challenge and end up picking easier routes to get what i want or to understand some things. o_o am i making any sense?
