I was looking at your stuff last night, and its pretty cool. Its a mixture of cartoony and awesome. You're people sometimes remind me of Penny Aracde.

I really like your gallery, but I have just this one problem... You have wonderful ideas and compositions but then they are somewhat hampered but a pixel-like look; the edges don't look smooth on objects... I don't know if it is just the setting on your camera or something, but I felt that I should point that thought out.
But that's not to say that I didn't enjoy my time in your gallery. You honestly do have a wonderful talent for photography.

I was told by another photographer that my pictures are too big, and they lose the entire affect since it can't fit on the screen. But when I downscale my photos, I seem to lose quality.... maybe I could find a program that would -condense- the photos rather than take out pixels?
I'm rather stumped.

photoshop, dude. it really is the best for scaling down images without losing quality. it can even do really funky sizes (like say, 32.57% of the original) pretty well...
and always keep a printable version and a web version of every picture, even if you have to save them on cds.

very nice stuff you have, welcome to DA...i would just suggest that you resize some of the pics so they fit on the screen and that you add borders...you won't believe how much borders help...it took me awhile to find the benefits in that...anyway, thanks for the comment you left, and always nice to see fellow ottawan...take care, i'll be back to check for updates

Any suggestion for the size? i took most in 1200x960 or so, what resolution would you suggest? And as for borders do you mean within the picture, or without? i.e. should i just put a black or white border round it?

well you can add a border in photoshop by just creating a new canvas which is black and then pasting your pic on top of it...the way i do my calculation is that i make the photo around 750-850 pixels in width and 80 more pixels for the border (so 40 on each side)...you can do this in photoshop by just changing the image size..but make sure you have two copies of your pic, one with the border and reduced size, and the original one...in terms of the border, i would look at some photos of big names on DA and see what they did, and just do a similar thing...lots of different borders would look well with a pic but black is the most popular
