Hi,
I just noticed that you were asking how to get 'smooth' tone in photoshop using your tablet.
The trick is to use low opacity with your brushes. Set it also on ' shape dynamics' so the pen pressure on the tablet makes a difference to flow.
Basically the trick is to use low opacity and then work your way up to the tone you want with layers of different colours. Occasionally you might want to 'blur' your work and then add detail in again.
Having said that I like your hatch style of painting on your armor suit.
