# About me
Hello there! I'm Fuzzle-wit, a day-dreaming word scribbler with a Persephone complex, and I leave you to figure out exactly what that means. Welcome to my page!I'm a writer. Ink swirls in my veins, and I've never been more at home than between the pages of a good book (or notebook, for that matter).
I'm a grad student (Publishing, Writing, and Literature) who recently graduated from college (English Major, Ancient Studies Minor, and Book Studies Concentrator), so naturally, things do not occur in a timely manner around here, as school is currently absorbing the last vestiges of my soul. But feel free to leave me a message if you'd like to talk to me or have a question and I promise that I'll get back to you eventually.
Thanks for stopping by! And please feel free to leave me any quotes, song titles, random facts, or words of the day. I love inspiration in any form it may take.
Current Residence: Maine, the Underworld, or Weasley's Wizard Wheezes
Favourite genre of music: Depends on my mood.
Favourite style of art: LITERATURE of all sorts, and traditional art
Operating System: Mac OS X

Shell of choice: Snail or conch.
Skin of choice: Feathers
Favorite characters: Hades, Persephone, Gru, Victor Van Dort, Alice Liddell and Alice Kingsleigh, Violet Baudelaire, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, Captain Jack Sparrow, my OC babies, Magnus Bane, and Arya Stark.

Haha, no worries! Clearly I'm just as bad as you are when it comes to not keeping in touch. But I'm so glad to hear you're doing well! I'm heading to grad school in a week (yikes!) and things are good, overall! "Just fine, a little dark, a little gloomy, and as always, hey, full of dead people, whaddaya gonna do?" XDΒ

Hey! Just happened across that conversation of ours from months back mentioning self-publishing. How's that going for you? Have you been looking into options and stuff?Β

Fuzzle-wit In reply to austheke [2013-09-13 19:32:58 +0000 UTC]
Hi! It's so good to hear from you! I feel like we start these great conversations that then sort of drop away, haha! Ah well, as is life.
So far, I haven't looked into self-publishing programs too thoroughly, but it's an option I still want to learn more about. I get emails from programs like Book Baby, but I haven't finished the project that I would want to publish D: So I have to work more on that for sure. I'm thinking about NaNoWriMo, but I'm not sure if I can do it this year. *sigh* I might do it with a collection of short stories that I'm thinking about, that way I can at least finish one project...
What about you? How's your writing coming along? Are you thinking about NaNoWriMo? (Haha let me just ask all the questions about your writing life in the recent past/present). Also, how's Epic?
Since I don't check DA as much as I should (or used to) maybe we can exchange emails or something? That way we can talk more often about writing and our writing processes, and I feel like I'm more inclined to write if I surround myself with fabulous writers like yourself.
Keep in touch!

yeaaah that's 'cause I'm really lousy at replying to messages. I'm still getting the hang of the whole social interaction thing--slow learner.
I think it's worth committing to one project, yeah! Short stories are tough, to be sure. That's what I've been writing, because of my courses, and it's some nasty stuff. Honestly, I think writing a good short story can be even more challenging than finishing a novel. As for NaNoWriMo, as much as I love it, I skipped last year and I'll probably skip this year too. I'm going to try and tap in to the frenzied atmosphere of creativity during November to motivate myself to get a little bit of writing done, but NaNo itself has a certain kind of pressure that, while super fun, can also be kinda stressful. With my school stuff getting in the way, I'm leery of taking on a big commitment like that.
What's the project you're thinking of self-publishing? If I self-publish (and I'm planning to do so with Epic once I finish the dang thing) I'll likely go with a big company like Lulu (I've had great experience with them in the past). With them, at least everything is relatively straightforward. I'm worried about falling for some small company's marketing traps and wasting money doing something silly.
My writing is not coming along at all because I'm a lazy butt, but, well, what's changed? :'D I'm sorta trying to get back in the saddle, but boy, it's hard. I'm also working on another commitment which I can tell you about later--it's kicking my butt right now, so trying to juggle that plus school plus writing is getting hard. I have none of the discipline necessary for being a writer. It's a process, haha.
Yeah, shoot me an email anytime--austheke (AT) gmail (DOT) com! It rings on my phone so I'll be sure to see it.

Haha, no worries! I'm wretched at replying to messages too, as proved by the time it took for me to reply to this message!
I definitely agree that it's easier to commit to one project, although I do tend to be pulling multiple strings at once. I hope you were able to use the environment of NaNo to your advantage! I ended up using it to finish a draft of my senior thesis, but... at least I was writing, I guess, right? A good short story absolutely can be just as challenging to weave together as a fabulous novel, with the added hurdle of concision to contend with.Β Β
I'm actually thinking of publishing a novel-length project calledΒ Inner Demons, a work I've had sitting on my plate for years and still need to finish. Ooh, I'll have to check out Lulu; I haven't heard of it, but I love the idea of working with a larger company that has notoriety and doesn't have any contract traps.
Haha I hear you. Having the motivation, not to mention the time, to commit to writing is difficult! I'm glad to know it's not just me. We can struggle through together! Β I hope the other commitment that's been taking up your time has been easier to manage, along with classes, which I hope are also going well!Β
My email address is: liv-eternally@hotmail.com. I'm definitely more likely to check back there, so we can continue to talk about all things writing!Β

Hullo!
I hope that tomorrow will be a good day--that there will be surprises or little happinesses that you notice and remember. Or if not tomorrow, then the day after, or the day after that. Just that sometime soon you have a really, simply pleasant day.
Hope you're doin' well!

Fuzzle-wit In reply to Nessarie [2011-05-10 05:11:18 +0000 UTC]
Actually, yes. I was toying with the idea of a flower-related theme, maybe requiring that each story needs something flower-related, or that flowers tie into the plot somehow. April showers do bring May flowers, after all. What do you think? Any good?
π: 0 β©: 1
Nessarie In reply to Fuzzle-wit [2011-05-12 12:04:57 +0000 UTC]
That sounds great! Might want to add some detail though; do you have a prompt? Do you have prize(s) chosen?
π: 0 β©: 1
Fuzzle-wit In reply to Nessarie [2011-05-15 04:44:13 +0000 UTC]
Yay! Okay, well I stuck with the flower theme and came up with this: "A strong breeze blew through the garden, and petals and leaves swirled up from the ground like wayward confetti. For a moment the image resembled a spring snow globe, then the wind was gone, and the image shifted." I hope it's okay.
As for prizes, I was thinking of offering a written commission from me, one from a good friend of mine who's also on dA (I have to run it by her and make sure she's willing, and if she's not I can always write another prize, possibly a short story and a poem?) and then either an illustrated commission or a few icons/banners or other graphic of some sort, which I can make. Think that will be enough?

Fuzzle-wit In reply to Nessarie [2011-05-20 21:48:03 +0000 UTC]
Yay! Perfect. I'll probably be ready some time next week; some family stuff has kept me off the computer and will probably keep me away until next Friday. Is that too late? If it is I totally understand, and I can try to work something out for an earlier time.
And as for a time frame, I would think a few weeks? If I get it up for the first day of June (or thereabouts) I would think the entire month of June might be enough time. What do you think?
