That it has, I've moved to Louisiana and am living on a houseboat. How have you been doing, making a lot of bows?

Thank you for the +watch, too.
Your blades look nice - you make most of them yourself, right? Have you ever etched them with a design?

Yes I do everything myself, and no I've never etched them other than when I do Damascus, then you etch to bring up the contrast. Been thinking of doing some design etching lately though. Was interested in it way back when I started but just never 'got to it'

Oh, I know all about having ideas to do and never getting to them. I have papers and scrap papers all over that can go in that pile.

hee hee, yep and every now and then I'll use the idea I put on one of those 'scrap' papers years ago or it may make something 'fall' into place that I didn't understand at the time.

My pleasure, you do nice work, are you hand cutting your stencils? Or some sort of plotter/computer cutter? And next question is what do you use for stencil material?

ImaginedGlass In reply to Garrett-Jax [2012-06-09 12:26:37 +0000 UTC]
The coasters, paperweights, and building ones are all done by translating the artwork into a design for the vinyl cutter. Ones like the aircraft carrier and other larger ones that I've done before are hand cut by making the drawing then using that to cut over a vinyl.
The plotter vinyl is a stencil type which peels off easily after finishing. It's pretty thin, but it seems to hold fine for the deep cuts. For heavier carving I've used Hartco masking. When I worked for one company, they used two grades of 3" masking tape and overlapped it by 1/8" and then transferred the drawing on tracing paper and hand cut it.

Thanks for the info, figured it had to be a plotter for some of the stuff. . .also gives me a few ideas, thanks again, there's really some great stuff in your gallery
