# About me
Ciao~I'm not feeling very creative at the moment, so I don't have much to say. //sweatdropp// This will be boring and plain and best not to look at.
While I'm not an artist myself, I decided to make an account to express my appreciation and support for a lot of artists that I really, truly admire.
However, while I'm not much of an artist, I /do/ have a deep passion for writing. I have always adored reading and have been writing since I was fairly young - although everything I wrote back then was awful, of course. //MORE SWEATDROP// My number one fantasy is to actually see a published book on the shelf. I am, in fact, attempting to edit/finalize/rewrite a novel that I've been working on for over three years.
My favorite genre is Gothic fiction and that's typically what I write in. I'm generally a pretty happy/shy person, but for some reason I'm drawn to darker plots, characters, and story lines. I find a hidden beauty and elegance in the Gothic. I love it in all forms, btw - literature, comics, books, games, artwork. All lovely.
Otherwise, I really love fantasy, anime, manga, and English literature.
If you have not guessed, I'm nothing more than a pitiful nerd.
To save myself from being a creeper that only faves but has nothing on this website myself, I will be putting up a couple of fanfics/perhaps original writings - but in addition, I'll be floating around, commenting and faving and supporting really talented artists who deserve to be famous. ^^
So, until I decide to edit this and make it sound better - bye, bye!

No problem - you deserve it! I'm excited to hear that you'll have more Hunger Games art in your beautiful style! I was looking through your gorgeous gallery (and faved a couple of more lovely pieces that I will eventually comment on) and I actually noticed that I own prints of some of your artwork - I bought them at a convention a few years previously. They still hang on my walls now!
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Hello,
You like Kaori Yuki and Monstrumologist?
I can tell that we are going to be friends.
Have you read any of Kaori Yuki's work beside Godchild?
π: 0 β©: 1
GothicLolita1011 In reply to xXTaiYoungXx [2012-01-06 23:21:39 +0000 UTC]
Hey,
OMG! I'm so glad! I can't believe you like Kaori Yuki too! And you do Monstrumologist fanart? That's awesome.
I really like Kaori Yuki's style. Godchild is my absolute favorite (probably my favorite manga), but I also like Grand Guignol Orchestra a lot. I know Angel Sanctuary is her real biggie and I should read that too. I always plan on it, but I like to read her work in hard copy versus internet since I really admire her artwork, and since there are so many volumes for that manga, I haven't gotten around to it yet. T^T (ie: poverty)
I'm going to breakdown and start reading her stuff online eventually, though. /sweatdrop/
Is there anything you recommend? You have really cool taste. xD

I love Godchild and your right Angel Sanctuary is her big break but I haven't read it. My second favorite manga of her is Ludwig Revolution.
I began to read Grand Guignol Orchestra and I really like it but I haven't read it in a long time.

Ah, Ludwig Revolution! I've heard of that! It plays off of fairytales, right? I should really give it a shot because I love dark fairytale twists.
Omg, I'm so happy you like Godchild! What good tase you have. xD I don't know enough people who feel as passionate about the series as I do. What's your favorite Godchild volume? Character? If you don't mind me being nerdy and asking. You don't have to respond if you aren't up to it. //sorely lacks anyone to discuss this series with//
Then again, I should have known how good your taste was, given how cool your art is.

Me as well. I only have one rl friend who like to read as much as I and all she does is read popular books like Harry Potter or Twilight.
Hmm my favorite Godchild volume... well I didn't read it in volumes, I read it in the shojo beat magazines. I did like re-reading the one chapter when you see Cain as a young boy and it had a black sheep theme. Also the madame butterfly one.
What's your favorite? To be honest I've really been looking for someone to talk about Monstrumologist with. There are not a lot of people talking about it.
π: 0 β©: 1
GothicLolita1011 In reply to xXTaiYoungXx [2012-01-09 06:42:40 +0000 UTC]
I have a lot of favorites...its hard to decide. /sweat drop/ I loved hearing about Dr. Jizabel's past, so the part with his childhood. That, and when Riff betrays Cain - I was really shocked. Of course, I like the end when they are reunited too.
I'd love to talk about Monstrumologist! Its true that not a lot of people are talking about it...and it saddens me. Its a really masterful trilogy (or should I say series? I heard a rumor that he's writing more). I read them predominantly for the Will Henry/Pellinore relationship - but I really, really adore Yancey's description and how the novel mimics the Victorian Gothic (or at least, it does in my mind ).
I like Curse of the Wendigo the most - I'm going to hazard a guess and say that's yours too? I only assume after reading your descriptions beneath the your Monstrumologist pictures.

oh yeah Jizabel with his pet lamb... it was so sad.
I loved the series because the relationship between Cain and Riff was so good. Likewise to Will and Pellinore.
Your right Curse of the Wendigo is my favorite, did you like the new book? I can't wait for the fourth book.
I love victorian anything.
What other things do you like, I don't really read manga anymore. I began reading soul eater but didn't get that far.

Ah, so many sad moments in that manga. T.T
How did I feel about the new book? I have mixed feelings. I think there were a lot of stunningly written chapters - when Will has his finger cut off, when he runs to Von Helrung to save Pellinore's life. The writing was charged with a lot of emotion and sounded almost like poetry. I really liked hearing Will's father's voice - talking about the Isle of Bliss - because it helped me assess not only his character more, but Will's relationship with him (in contrast/comparison to his relationship with Pellinore).
However, I felt there were a lot of slow parts in this one. After a while, I started wondering when they were going to just get to the damn isle, lol. Also, since Pellinore was not always with Will, there were some long bits of just Pellinore explaining what he did, less of Will's P.O.V., which I didn't enjoy as much.
How did you feel about Will Henry killing people? I have mixed feelings about it, but I understand why it happened.
Hmm...what else do I like? I'll just list some things at random - in addition to manga/anime, I like a fair amount of Tim Burton things. Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow, NBC, Corpse Bride...love Victorian Gothic novels, especially Dracula and Frankenstein...there's this other Victorian author Le Fanu - he wrote a bunch of short ghost stories I love. He wrote a vampire novella called "Carmilla" that I adore. Perhaps stereotypical, but I like Edgar Allan Poe a lot. John Keats as well. I really like both the book and movie Coraline - although I like the book more. Um...hm...I love the author Chris Wooding. My two favorites by him are The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray and Poison. I also adore Harry Potter, really, really like the Hunger Games, but I...don't like Twilight at all.
Wow. That's a random list...lol. What about yourself?

xXTaiYoungXx In reply to GothicLolita1011 [2012-01-10 19:53:24 +0000 UTC]
I totally agree with you. I hate that Will killed Kerns because it wasn't called for (and I also really liked Kerns...*sad face*)
I read Coraline right before watching the movie and to be honest I noticed all the changes but thought the movie did well. The part in the movie where the door is banging and it gets closer and closer scares me like none other. I'm not that big Tim Burton fan, I didn't like the end of Corpse Bride just because I wanted Emily and Victor to get married.
I've never heard of Chris Wooding, I'll totally look him up. (Secretly I never like the Harry Potter books because my teacher made the first book a requriment when I was younger and I hated it. I never went back to read them. Also I've read the second book of Hunger games without knowing...)
I have a random list of things I like too, I like stories with complex relationship (like Riff and Cain, Will and Pellinore) I like reading Batman and Robin and Sherlock Holmes. I don't know if you like those things.
Also I love watching movies and cartoons. My favorite movie recently was Kung Fu Panda 2 because the storytelling was so good. Making list about things I like is hard... sorry I made you do such a things... haha

I'm glad I'm not the only one who 1) Didn't think Will needed to kill Kearns and 2) Liked Kerns. I thought he was the coolest villain - so witty! - and could have lasted a little longer.
I was a little saddened by Will's easiness to kill people. I understand that its ironic that he's able to deal with murder more easily than Pellinore in given situations, and I know the series centers a lot on Will's loss of innocence, but I thought his easiness with killing developed a little too fast. Ah...I probably just expected more angst over his first kill with the assassins - and Yancey probably thinks Will has enough angst Anyway, like I said before, I understand WHY it happened, I just have mixed feelings it.
Tee hee! I hope you enjoy Chris Wooding if you read any of his stuff! Idr if I mentioned this last post, but I suggest Poison and Haunting of Alaizabel Cray. Poison has a really awesome female lead and Haunting has a very rich, Gothic setting. Those are my two favorites by him. I also read Storm Thief, which is really good, but I like the aforementioned ones more.
Ah! I love Harry Potter with a passion, but I respect your opinion. Lol, if you were at all interested in the second Hunger Games, you could give the first a shot! I actually loved the first one the most. The second two are also good, but a little...frustrating...at times. But that might just be me.
Complex relationships are great. I love the ones that are really intense and often stressed/challenged. One of the reasons I really love Will/Pellinore. I was never actually got into most superhero stuff, besides watching the movies, but were I to get into any, it'd probably be Batman because Gotham City looks darker than other comic settings. The only Sherlock Holmes I read was Hound of the Baskervilles for a Gothic class I took, but I enjoyed it. I'll probably read more eventually.
Movies and cartoons are cool! I can't really say what was recently my favorite movie, though. T.T I saw the first Kung Fu Panda and thought it was cute. Usually I'm skeptical about sequels unless its from a book series, but if you say its good, I'll definitely look it up.
Making lists ARE hard. Do you ever feel that the moment someone asks you to list something, you forget everything? Happens to me a lot. Anyway, don't worry about it. Like you said before, I'm content talking about Monstrumologist - I feel not a lot of people are talking about it. xD

List are hard! I was looking at my sketchbook and my Favorited pictures to see what I liked.
In the first book (Monstrumologist) Kerns kept me laughing, he was a villain I love to hate. Yet when I think about how he used Will as bait and in the third book it was kind of the same thing. I bet Will was sick of it and just wanted to kill him off. My only hope for the fourth book is that it's brought up and Pellinore realizes that Will lied and killed Kerns.
I do like Will and the doctors complicated situation the times I really felt it was in the second book when lost in the woods. My favorite part of the third book was the doctor telling Will never to fall in love and it was for unselfish reasons, I laughed so hard. XD
I don't know if you feel the same but I hope the fourth book doesn't go too far ahead in the future to where Will is much older. (or to the point of Will getting married, the doctor dying etc) Even though those will be interesting to read some day I don't ever want their adventures to end...
I understand the superhero stuff, it's something I just recently got into because I stop reading manga and missed reading books with pictures. So I started to read comics instead.

GothicLolita1011 In reply to xXTaiYoungXx [2012-01-17 02:15:52 +0000 UTC]
Yes, Kearns definitely DESERVED to die, I just wish he could have lasted longer to cause more trouble...I thought he was a cool villain. xD
I loved the scenes in the woods in the second part. They were so intense. *_*! I felt bad for poor Will throughout most of that book (though I sympathize with him in all of them, really). What I really love about will is the extreme amount of devotion he reserves for Pellinore - even when Pellinore is acting like a total...ah.../jerk/. Of course, I love Pellinore too, because deep down you know he cares. My favorite part in the third book is probably when Will has that out-of-body experience and hears Pellinore tell him that he's what keeps him human.
But OMG - that was really funny, the doctor telling Will not to fall in love. The little humorous moments counter the multitude of serious stuff that goes down in that series.
I hope the fourth book doesn't go too far into the future either. I agree with you, it WOULD be interesting...but my main draw to the series is Will's relationship with the doctor, so if Pellinore is dead, it just...idk...I feel (personally) like there would be some sort of emptiness to the book. Anyway, I think Lilly Bates is really cool and pretty darn funny, but I'm more concerned about Will's relationship with the doc than with her. I guess I just donβt get that psyched about romantic relationships Like you, I also just donβt want their adventures to end. It would be interesting to see the type of adult Will is, but the doctorβs death would be depressing for me.
Actually, Iβm always been the weird sort of person who likes to focus on the past more than the future. I wanna know more about Pellinoreβs childhood. The first two books reference it, but Iβd love to dig deeper into that. The first book pretty much establishes that Pellinoreβs father lost it, but I felt that they only scratched the surface with him. I want to know more about his parents, about his relationship with John before he became a wendigoβ¦about Margaretβ¦etc.
On a purely shallow level, Iβm also interested to see what sort of creature the next book will have. I liked the twist in the last book, but I actually predicted it. o.O When I was getting really close to the end and we hadnβt seen the monster yetβ¦I knew that there was no way it could really be some giant predator. And I figured the most shocking thing would be if there (somehow) was no beast at all. It was cool, but I hope thereβs a more substantial monster in this one. Maybe an undiscovered one? I enjoyed the second book for putting stress on the Will/Warthrop relationship and because it really focused on Willβs mindset, but I also found the whole βthe wendigo is realβ/βthe wendigo is NOT realβ tension exciting. I guess because it kept the reader wondering as well. What sort of monster do you think will be in the next one?
Comic books are cool β I have friends who read/have read them, Iβm just personally heavy into manga. Iβll probably end up reading comics eventually. ^^ I agree β books with pictures are QUITE fun.

Maybe a spin off series about young Pellinore? It would be awesome but since the books aren't doing well maybe just short story would do.
You know what, I never realized that before but I did like that you didn't know if it was real or not (the wendigo that is). The writing in the second book was just really good in my opinion. The third book had a lot of slow moment and even though I was excited when I first saw how bigger the third book was, I was disappointed by how much of it was filler.
Have you ever seen those ask *insert persons name* on tumblr. Like you ask a character a question and an artist draws a response. I was thinking it would be fun if I did one for Will Henry but just on DA.
Do you think people would ask questions though? I'd hate to embrass myself o///o

GothicLolita1011 In reply to xXTaiYoungXx [2012-01-17 05:51:19 +0000 UTC]
OMG! That would be awesome! It's so unfortunate that more people don't like this amazing series. T.T I would settle for a spinoff, a short story - anything!
The writing in the second book was excellent. There were parts in the third book that I thought were written beautifully, but I agree that overall there was A LOT of filler. Especially when they were going to the isle. It did disappoint me...I hope the next one won't have as much filler.
I have seen those! Your idea sounds awesome...I know I would certainly ask you questions. My only concern would be that not a lot of people know the series, so they might not ask because they don't know who Will Henry is. But then again, you get a fair amount of reviews for your Monstrumologist fanarts - and its a good bet that those people would ask. We need to round up more Monstrumologist stuff on DA!
If you decide to do it, you will at least have me ask a question! xD

Awesome, I might do something later on to start it off.
I was going to start it off with "Will, What your favorite food?"
(it's simply enough) :/
What would your question be?
Also I have this secret desire for a fanfic (or a comic) for Will to time travel to meet the doctor when he was younger. It just sounds hilarious to me. XD (i'm a werid person)

Hm...I was thinking something like, "What was the first monster Warthrop ever showed you?" or "How did you feel the first time Warthrop told you he was a monstrumologist?"
O~M~G. Your fanfic/comic idea sounds really awesome. I've always been interested in Pellinore's past - having Will see/experience it firsthand would just be phenomenal. xD There's nothing weird about you!
Also, gonna put you on watch since I love your Monstrumologist artwork. Is that alright? ^^

Thanks for the watch.
hmmm... those would be good questions (which I don't know the answer too XD )
Would you be willing to help me?
In case people ask hard questions, like be help me write the answers.
For the favorite food I thought it would be apple pie because I remember reading that he smelt apple pie when thinking of his mother but now I can't find it in the books. Did i make this up?! lol
Maybe the first monster he ever saw was the one killing his father? idk

No problem, you deserve it!
Of course, I'd be willing to help! I'm honored you asked. xD Two heads are better than one, after all. And yes...I'm not sure about the answers to those questions either. They just popped into my head because I found them interesting.
I don't think you made up the bit about the apple pie! For some reason, I think its somewhere in the third book. He has a lot of flashbacks and there's that recurring memory of him sitting at the table with the jar of milk, or something. I think his mother was in the background making an apple pie or something...? I'd have to look it up to find it, but I think its somewhere there...
You know, the monster killing his father, that's true. Because his father had all those boils and when they burst, those...white worm things would come out of them, right? How creepy!

xXTaiYoungXx In reply to GothicLolita1011 [2012-01-26 19:54:02 +0000 UTC]
It was between his father being the monster, the doctor or an actual monster monster. The other question is way hard to figure out.
At first I couldn't even say monstrumologist....
When I went to my library to rent it I couldn't find it, so I had to ask for help. When the librarian ask for the name of the book I was stuttering for a bit.... "monster-mology-ist...." she laughed because she knew what book I was talking about. I felt like a total idiot. I need to read more so I can be smarter. XD
Anyways I'm totally going to do your question next I just need time to work on it.

Sorry for the delay in response. T.T I started my spring semester...its a drag.
Those questions ARE complex. >3< It would really require a lot of thinking to come up with answers! I suppose its always easier to ask questions than come up with their answers.
LOL I had a similar experience when I first starting getting into the series too. Actually, it still happens to me. There are just so many "m"s in the title, you know? Its funny how Yancey has a scene in the beginning of the third book where Will tries to teach that man Kearns sent how to pronounce it. xD
You're already quite smart!
Wah, thanks so much for saying you'll do my question! xD It excites me, even if I don't have a tumblr!
