I've only started reading the novel, myself! But I admit that I have a huge fondness for Victorian era horror. I am so sorry that you waited this long for a response! DA's new setup is making it frustrating for me to see what is new/old on my page. I would love to see further illustrations for the novel (I just need to finish reading it first!)

No problem, dear, the new version of dA sucks indeed. Gothic novels are also my hobby, especially the vampiristic ones, because this motif is nowadays too exploited and brings hardly some freshness or individualism in the literature. On the other hand the Victorian era itself is just too great in any way, so I really do understand you ♥
For now I need to end some smaller requests and start one big project (19th century as well!), but Carmilla is still on my "to do" list. Knowing that some people like the idea, it will probably start soon ^^

That's great! And, I have to admit, it is really nice to see some vampire eroticism, even if it is only implied, that is different from the typical Anne Rice stuff. Dracula and Carmilla are reminders of a better time of vampire lore.

I've been studying the Victorian period extensively, and it is always satisfying to understand the stories on a different level than face value. Have you seen the Hammer film based on Carmilla? I've downloaded it, but have yet to see it. I think it's called Vampire Lovers, or some such. I know the reputation of Hammer Films, but wikipedia says that it is the most faithful adaptation of the novella.
