It seems like some, like of Hinata in your Features gallery behind Sakura's back, is a re-draw form a scene in the anime. Just do the same as I said before -- specify where it is original is from--The Naruto anime, and the episode number preferably, and if you do not remember the episode number, then just say it is a re-draw from the anime.

Hi there. Do not worry, I am not here to flame you, just to clarify.
Β
I heard about the thievery and so I looked through your gallery.
I saw something I commonly see with younger or less experience artists on Da (I am surprised however to see this from such a long-time member).
Β
I see a lot of re-draws of pictures from mangas andΒ other peoples' fanarts.
Β
YouΒ need toΒ credit the image you are re-drawing (or heavy referencing)Β in respect to the original artist's hard work to makeΒ the original composition. In reality, re-draws are not allowedΒ on DeviantART (see bellow), but the community is not so angered by this as long as the original sources are properly credited.
Β
Keep in mind that when you upload something to this site, it automatically publishes your picture with a copyright to your username. So even if you are not claiming you made the original idea/picture in your own words, if you do not credit the original source/artist for the picture, and not just the series title, you are indirectly claiming it-- unintentional, or tactical,Β art thievery.
Β
You can credit it with a direct link to the original image, or writing out your source such as the volume/chapter/page number the image is from in the manga. If you do not remember where it is from, just write in the description that it is a "re-draw" of an image that is not your own.
Β
This is also needed for mostΒ "heavy referencing." By this, is mainly using the original image as a base to re-draw the same pose or another aspect exactly as it is shown, and just changing certain features (such as the eye style or the hair).
Β
Mimicry art is a great learning tool, but breaks copyright laws and deviantARt's own rules (I'll provide references of this bellow). They are wonderful to use offline for practice, but shouldn't be uploaded, especially unaccredited, into an art website: DeviantART especially since DeviantART provides a copyright to every image you upload into your username.
Β
With as much practice as you have had to learn how different artists use line and angles to make an image, you should be able to make your own by now. Try branching out further into developing your own independent skills. It might not be what you would like at first, but you'll never get any better without trying.

why people think youre an art thief ? ... the most important proof is that u were in da for 8 years .. that alone proves that ure not an art thief :/ ..

NasikaSakura In reply to SatoshiD [2013-10-05 15:36:41 +0000 UTC]
Not necessarily. Two months ago, I found a deviant who has been here for over 3 years submitting into a group I admin in. He claimed to have made the image entirely by himself. The original was on a site from Venezuela 11 years prior. His gallery was stealing artwork from sources that he thought we wouldn't find -- and they were very difficult to find too!-- and that is how he got away with it so long. Others get away with it for a long time just because they are not very popular, so not enough eyes are going past it to pick it up, or because they are not active enough on the site.

SatoshiD In reply to NasikaSakura [2013-10-05 15:44:06 +0000 UTC]
well youre right .... maybe 8 years isn't a good proof ... but this dude's works are mostly simple sketches ... they are not really worthy to be stolen :/ ... i still think they are his own work ..
my other reason is all of the works has one style ... i mean one person has drew them all ..
π: 0 β©: 1
NasikaSakura In reply to SatoshiD [2013-10-05 16:00:55 +0000 UTC]
Not really.
Β
I sketch other people's artwork all the time to learn how they use line, angle, and proportions in their drawings to do what it is that they do. I just don't upload those here because it is a drawing tool I use to learn, and not something I made entirely myself.
Β
Most of the art in his gallery I've found to be re-draws from specific comics/manga and television shows/animes. I've let him know how to credit them properly, and why it needs to be credited.
Β
As for the stylized pictures, many of those have been heavily referenced from other pictures and minimal changes have been made, such as the eye style, but the majority of the picture, such as the body, are the same as the original source. Those need to be credited too, and I've let him know how.
Β
Now if he takes that advice or not will determine if he is an art thief really, or if he was just mistaken.
Β
Really though, with how long he has been doing this, he should have learned enough form the mimicry art to be making much more original art now. He should branch out further and nurture his own abilities more, rather than crutching on the ideas of someone else.

I don't think this is tracing...I can tell if just that you have learned more from heavy reference more than anything and people just don't look at it close enough thats all Maybe some time some more original pieces will come from you but for now, I still believe your drawing them yourself!Β

People are saying you're tracing, but from what I've seen it's more heavy referencing then tracing. People need to get a grip and a better trained eye. I reference images myself, although I try to include a link or something going back to the pic in which I referenced from.

Y are you tracing, dude? You should get a better life and stop tracing other peoples art and selling them at cons.
Just because you change a little bit of the art you traced doesn't mean that its originally yours
Really man? Your sad, dude. Sad.

It's sad to hear an artist is stealing other artists' work and then selling them at cons. You know, if you want to be praised, you should do your own art work instead of tracing. You're 23, not 5.

Hey, people who are on the defending team.
1. you are still supposed to give credit to a reference
2. It is wrong to reference other peoples are, you can reference bases and stock photos. But when you reference an amateur artist on DA working hard fro what they do, thats WRONG.
3. You cant reference professional artists like the creator of DBZ and FMA, that is cheating, come up with an original concept.
4. YES, some do seem traced
5. Wether or not the image is flipped or at a different angle is irrelevant to the argument, anyone can flip an image.
I can tell that this artist as not been truthful, wether or not you saw him completing these works are irrelevant when there is proof, we are not blind. People work hard to get were they are in the art world, seeing this make me disappointed and sad especially for those who have had their art stolen before.
Referencing does not = not cheating

Y'know, I've actually watched him do 95% of the work here on deviantART. If you guys actually sat back and watched what he's done, then maybe you guys wouldn't open your mouths and bash him. He even admits to using references and the like, or does anyone actually read before they say anything and immediately jump down his throat? This guy happens to be a really close friend of mine, and it's quite the piss off when you come across shit like that blog on Tumblr and then comments like this. Maybe if someone actually TALKED to Hero before making assumptions or just going by what they see, things might be a little different. As it stands, you're technically only getting one side of the story.
You guys really never cease to amaze me. Christ.

It is tracing. Just because the pictures are different sizes, doesn't mean he didn't trace it.
Look here and tell me if this is just 'referencing' like you said. [link]
You can't trace pictures forever. He needs to find some originality.

Lululoid In reply to Umimori [2013-05-02 23:06:18 +0000 UTC]
In my opinion it isn't, I could see a bit of a difference but of course thats just me. I did see some pictures that looked original but about 5 I beileve looked traced. Maybe I'm just looking at the others instead of the ones people believed are traced?
π: 0 β©: 1
Umimori In reply to Lululoid [2013-05-02 23:12:28 +0000 UTC]
I've looked through his gallery, and yes, there are some he drew himself. But the majority of it is traced.
You can believe what you want to believe, but some of his pictures are traced from other anime photos. Those are facts.
There is a difference from 'referencing' and tracing.
