# About me
Hello! And welcome to the official deviantART profile of professional animator, Kurt Smith. I am a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Animation. I specialize in traditional and 2D digital animation, and I have additional skills in character design, visual development, storyboards, animatics, character animation, inking and coloring, video compositing and editing, motion media design, and rigging character puppets in Adobe Flash.I was born in 1989 in Heilbronn, Germany, and have traveled the world with my military family throughout my childhood. I’ve been a connoisseur of fine cartoons since I was a lad, and I started making comics and Flash animations in high school. I’m looking for full-time employment or an internship at a professional animation studio, and beyond contributing to collaborative projects I hope to one day direct my own films or television series, or charter a studio.
I have animated, drawn backgrounds, and even voice acted on a number of senior films produced at SCAD, including "A Tiger's Fairy Tale," "Complement Me," "Hooward," and "When The Man Comes Around." My first collaborative effort in college was an animated adaptation of a children's storybook called "Time Machine," which was originally illustrated by a SCAD alumni. My own senior film, "Space Sirens," was produced and directed by myself and is available to watch for free online. Since graduating college, I have continued to work on indepedent projects as well as freelance work, as I continue to search for a permanent position in the wild animation industry.

hi! i was wondering if you would take commissions for a couple of puppet rigs for a couple of oc's owned by my friends. if you were willing, how much do you think they'd cost? my friend would be more then willing to pay if you were willing to make them.

Hi! And thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be willing to undertake a commission like that. The Flash puppets I worked on for "Double Rainboom," the ponies, the PPG, and the monster, all took a very long time. Anywhere between 1 and 2 months for two or three characters, or one character in multiple views for the purpose of animation. For that kind of labor, I would have to charge a price that your friend more than likely wouldn't want to pay for, especially considering the time it would take to produce them. Regardless, I'm not that interested in spending that much time and effort on "OC" characters. I worked hard on the puppets I've made so far because I would be animating them later on, and it was therefore in my interest to make sure that they functioned properly.
Also, I am currently pre-occupied with my freelance work and finding a job in the animation industry. A deadline for a project like that would be continuously set back to accommodate for my higher priorities.
However, if you or your friend would like a portrait instead, I would be willing to do that instead, and for a much more generous rate. I could finish something like that in a day or a few, rather than the weeks and months it takes to make fully-functional Flash puppet rigs.
Thank you for the offer, though! I hope I haven't disappointed you.
