If I did, my art would look sooo much better. But no. I don't. I draw my art traditionally and color them digitally. Look closer. The lines are wonky and not straight than if they were from a base. Also proportions would actually work, no? But I digress from your original question, and the answer is no. I do not use bases.

When you see general signs of tracing wouldn't you like to know if someone's partially using someone else's hard work to complete their own?

Tell me you don't endorse tracing or basing without crediting!

It only takes me to find one "heavily referenced" photo to override any of your comments. If you haven't seen *HotBlackAngel work in person ask yourself how YOU know they're not tracing or using base work as their own?

One simple question couldn't have gotten both of your panties in such bunches. I've been quite informative and generalistic about my responses and by no means rude.

If someone isnt using bases, Isnt tracing, then how do you think that question would make them feel?
Thats the problem.

Do you see any of your work?
Do you see any of your friend's work?
If there isnt consistency in her gallery, I could understand.
But, Ive seen her draw and color her picture herself.
She draws them herself. No base. No tracing.

There isn't consistency in her gallery. Normally (and not perfectly) you can tell from the nature of the lines - a drawn line has a smooth flow and may start slightly light, then attain its weight, then get light. Long lines show a repeat of the pattern even with slight overlap. A traced line is focused on following the original so the pencil/pen is put down firmly and normally has wobbles as the user notices the line is off and corrects. Lines meet at strength and may have slight gaps. The tracer, without proper artistic stills can become confused and leave unfinished lines being unsure of where they start or begin. Vectors for example (though not for this particular case) are tracing.

I can point out multiple pieces which show signs of generalized tracing. Any experienced artist could tell you that.

You really can't blame me for asking. This is an open forum community, if I wasn't allowed to ask questions they wouldn't allow any and all users to post freely wherever they want. Questioning one's basis is what art is about. It's about growing as an artist and exploring your own style, and not someone else's.

And this statement isn't for you because I can see your work has general basis, it's for people that DO trace, and though some people don't catch it, it's still tracing. If you defend them or not and they are despite claims tracing. I've seen one particular popular deviant with over 4 mil views (no names mentioned) but I have visual proof of her traced/heavily referenced paid commissions and she still denies them. I have visual proof, digital proof, and one confirmation email regarding the tracing; and yet publicly she still denies the claim. Not worth it to publicly share these screened caps (mostly due to the popularity of this deviant) but to anyone that privately asks, I will.

Point being, if they are or are not I assume that they're lying and hope their guilt will overwhelm them. Tracing is a serious problem with the Deviantart Community and younger deviants in general. I'm not chastising this girl, I'm encouraging that she tries to expand her horizon and understand she could probably do better creating her own images, instead of relying on references, or additional images to complete her original work.
