The music was later on in the night in a venue called the Pavillion but I didn't go to that. I went during the day. The music sounded very industrial in the rehersals though.

Erm well I think it is. It had elemnts of all I suppose. To be honest I'm not the best person to explain about different off-shoots of music it confuses me all the different names for different types of music.

Industrial is defiantly metal.
It started as only referring to bands on the Industrial Records label before lending the name to bands that followed its styling. It was very experimental (and mostly but not always electronic) in early performances it often involved taboo-breaking, provocative elements, like mutilation, sadomasochistic elements and totalitarian imagery and even audience abuse.
Then later it moved into a more metal aspect adopting guitars after Ministry released The Land of Rape and Honey.
Godflesh were also hugely influential in moving industrial into an all most definite metal categorisation, their name often been dropped by Danzig (who rule) Faith No More and Metallica.
To claim that something is not music is a flawed statement. Anything with a beat can entertain as music, Kraftwerk are a perfect example of this. They use synthesizers and sometime computer speech software to play pre-recorded or even artificially created sounds to make extremely easy going and relaxing music.

No, there's something brainless about your statement "industrial = good, metal = not music" as I said before any sound can be arranged to a beat and be pleasing to listen to as music and it also doesn't change the fact that industrial is part of the metal genre.
