Hi. I like your art. You've definitely got the photorealism thing down. Are you planning on ever making statements with your art or focusing on a style other than realism?

I don't think realism is bad, it's just that there are things that can't be said with it.

(At the same time, I realize my profile doesn't have a lot of abstract work up right now, but I have a bunch in real life... so if I look like a total hypocrite by saying that, don't think I am.)

Thank you! I actually have started a few pieces that focus more on the statement rather than the realism. It's really a challenge for me to make some kind of statement or show a meaning to my audience with a piece of art; it really takes a lot of thought and preparation for me, so I'm slowly practicing that more, although most of that work I haven't posted. For the longest time I've been just focusing on making my art look more realistic. People like it, ya know?
I do have my own style that goes beyond plain realism, and I think that really comes out in my painting and in some of my more cartoon-like art.
Thank you for your insight! I'm more inspired to move more quickly towards expressing my style without relying so much on going off photographs alone.

That's great! I completely understand about how much people like realism. I used to get comments about that all the time when I focused on realism, too. But I've found that I value the pieces with meaning and emotion behind them more than I value a realistic copy of a scene.

I'm definitely noticing your style in the oil paint, now that I look more. It reminds me of surrealism + Picasso before he went into expressionism (and later cubism).

This is awesome. I'm excited for your next works!
