I didn't realise it either but several places including the USA think they are lucky omens. The UK doesn't with the exception of farmers who realise that a good showing of ladybirds in spring predicts a good harvest. That is typical folklore realising ladybirds eat crop destroying bugs

I'm with you. Butterflies are probably the more attractive in a colourful sense but their, often dull brown, cousins are just as interesting. However, being generally nocturnal they are less obvious as well. People often ignore the 'underdog', when in reality they can have more interesting features in reality

Moths can be pretty colorful too. Just look at Luna Moths or Rosy Maple Moths. But in general yes, Butterflies are more colorful.
Exactly. I like the way Moths fly more too. Rather than letting winds carry them around like Butterflies, they instead beat their wings very fast and hard to fly around without needing the winds to assist them.
I think that Moths also get a bad rep for their light obsession too, which can certainly be annoying.

I always liked the "The Moth and the Star" fable by James Thurber, printed in the story collection Fables for Our Time in 1940. In the fable, a young moth aspires to fly up to a star, and keeps trying to reach that impossible goal. The other moths laugh at him. They tell him he should have a realistic goal, such as flying to a candle. Indeed, they all fly to candles and are burnt to ashes. The dreamy, unrealistic young moth keeps focused on flying to a star. He lives a long and happy life.

Regarding 'Tall Poppy Syndrome' I was in exactly the same situation. They label everything these days!
As to the prose poem, I find it calming, I used to keep a framed copy on my desk until I retired. It hangs on a wall at home now
