Ack! Don't tell me I missed you by 16 hours and now I have to wait another 15 weeks to see you online again! XP
Ah, well, I still hope you're enjoying life! ^^'

Hi! I'm still alive.
My computer has sorta reached its limits. I have finally ordered my new one and can't wait for it to arrive. Once I feel comfortable with the new one, I'm going to dump every unnecessary program from this one, as well as my family photos, music, and games. At that point this one will be more functional; and kept as a backup.
This one was a cheap bargain computer when it was given to me, all of 7 years ago. Even with a "high speed" internet connection, it sometimes takes minutes to load a page with lots of images and formatting on it.
*runs away to do editing like I promised to do forever ago*

Ooo... but, new computers are awesome! I don't really need one (yet) but I was looking and there's some that have, like, 270 gigs of hard-drive space and 8 gigs of memory and Windows 8 for 'round $900 (of course, I dunno if that's some kind of special or something, but still). My laptop (which I'm using now) was over $1000, and it only has 150 gigs of space and 2 gigs of RAM and XP SP 3. But this computer still goes strong! Surprisingly strong, actually. I read somewhere that the average computer needs replaced after 2 years, but mines 3 months over that time and runs, maybe, around 3/4ths the speed it had before I AgentLym-ized it...

My computer was below average when we got it in 2002. It has 27 GB of storage total, and came with "extra" RAM for a total of 372 MB of RAM. Megabytes. Oh yeah, those are the ones that it takes 1024 to make 1GB. I did a small upgrade in order to make it somewhere in the 700 MB range, but it's still dragging it's feet.
Also, 27 GB is basically the amount of pre-installed data that comes with new computers. But it's all good now, new computer is here!

Hwow. 27 gigs? I don't think I could live with that... Much less, half a gig of RAM! lol My computer has 2 (I think I've told you before), and it only slows up when I have, like, 6 or more programs running. I can only imagine your old one, though... ^^'

Yeah, it's been really frustrating lately. It's been a good reliable laptop, but it certainly had it's limits--space being the greatest one lately since I started taking digital pictures and have absolutely nowhere to put them. I don't think I can bring myself to get rid of my dear old laptop--I'm going to keep it so I can have something in case the new one goes crazy.
That and the old one has some programs on it that I don't think I can transfer to this one. I might end up needing my old version of Microsoft Word.

Heh, yeah, I can understand. I don't think I could throw this computer away; it's been with me through so much! lol
Why can't you transfer some programs? Different OS?

Well, I'm pretty sure they're "only install this on one computer" type programs, and I'm not sure I still have the CDs for some of them. Some of the stuff I used in college is missing.

Okay!
I'm glad that it's staying clean now--when I first looked at it, it had a few of the same things that Amber had on her laptop, but fortunately it never got that bad!

It's okay. I did receive both emails. I have time off this weekend. I have to make a trip to the mall (next volume of Zelda manga is supposed to be out!!), but even a lot of shopping shouldn't keep me from getting around to it.

Do you think that I could have the first chapter for the 28/29th? I'm going to try to post on the first of every month.
Now I just have to start writing the next chapter. It's been at least a month and I've done nothing!

Four Swords volume 2 should be out by now.
I have the Ocarina 1 and 2, Majora, Oracle of Ages and Seasons, and Four Swords 1. They're supposed to release the Minish Cap manga.
The older ones have been out for about a decade in Japan, and they just started releasing them in English this year--or late last year.

Yeah, I have the downloads, but I'm buying them now because I can afford to. I have the downloads of all three versions of LTTP, but one of them is incomplete--and probably will be forever because the translator dropped off the site and apparently didn't leave the scans for someone else.

MinLeanneVerrill In reply to KayleHylian [2009-10-13 14:09:33 +0000 UTC]
I don't think I have the incomplete one. I would buy the actaul mangas, but not many stores sell manga. Stupid Crapland and Woody.

KayleHylian In reply to MinLeanneVerrill [2009-10-14 05:38:28 +0000 UTC]
I've bought manga at Borders, Walden Books (not sure if they exist anymore?), Barnes and Noble, and Books a Million. Even Walmart has even carried a few series, but only Naruto has lasted very long there. I know Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Books a Million are currently selling the Zelda series, but if you don't have those stores, I don't know. They are currently on Amazon, but I have to whine at someone with a credit card to get anything of there since I have no card.
I'll see if I can find the link where I found the incomplete version. I've only seen it a couple places and it's always incomplete. Since Nintendo isn't publishing it, I'll never see how they end it... *sigh*

MinLeanneVerrill In reply to KayleHylian [2009-10-14 14:01:56 +0000 UTC]
I've never heard of those stores. Really, the only stores that sell manga around here are Owl's bookstore, which I believe is now closed- I wasn't even allowed in there anyway. And Wal-mart, but they only had Naruto, and they don't have manga most of the time. It makes me sad!

KayleHylian In reply to MinLeanneVerrill [2009-10-15 04:32:33 +0000 UTC]
Wow. Then you really would have a hard time finding it. Well, Barnes and Noble is only in the United States, so there's a good chance that they all only exist in the US.
Maybe you've seen a Chapters? I've only just realized your profile says Canada. The first link is for their store locator, since I won't ask where you live.

Other than that, I guess you could check for stores at the nearest mall. But then all this assumes that you have money to begin with, and I know first hand that I don't have all the money I wish I had. I also have some game music that isn't paid for simply because stores don't carry it, and I can't buy much online.

MinLeanneVerrill In reply to KayleHylian [2009-10-15 14:07:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, Chapters does sell a bunch manga, but the nearest store is about an hour and a half away, and since I only have a permit I can't drive there by myself. Not that I know how to get to Freddy anyway.

Ah, I didn't know.
Yeah, the bookstores I go to are 45 minutes away so I have to make a special trip to go shopping out there. I try to do more than just buy one book there since it's a long drive.

Yeah, and usually my mutter dear won't let me buy manga cause she does not see them as good reading material.

KayleHylian In reply to MinLeanneVerrill [2009-10-16 21:54:27 +0000 UTC]
I can see where she would think that about some of the manga available... there's plenty of, um, questionable content in a lot of them. The Zelda mangas are all displayed in the children's section--but I know that won't change a parent's mind. I have known people who didn't want their children to read Lord of the Rings, among other things (the movies are violent, but the books are usually considered safe).
Ah, well. At least you've seen the digital ones. I have them all too, but I'm buying them to support their release because I can afford it.

MinLeanneVerrill In reply to KayleHylian [2009-10-19 15:08:43 +0000 UTC]
It's not the content at all. She considers them to be comics. It really makes me mad.

KayleHylian In reply to MinLeanneVerrill [2009-10-20 18:22:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, that's unlucky. Some people hate comics, even though there's no good reason for it. Comics aren't much different from cartoons, except comics are usually better quality.
I guess I didn't start collecting manga until after I had my first job, and it was my own money. I don't see why my mother would ever read them since she doesn't read my books either, but I'm sure she wouldn't understand. Funny how she won't let you buy them legally, when you can read them all over the internet.

I know. Hah, if she could see the mangas I find over the interent! I'd probably be killed. My mom like comic books but she doesn't think a manga is worth paying $9.99 for. Oh well.

The Zelda mangas sell for $8 here, but that's still more than the average book. I do consider them collectibles though. I sat down once and did a rough estimate of the price of my collection and almost fainted.
Speaking of comics, my aunt has an enormous collection that she started in high school (she doesn't usually buy them anymore, but she keeps all her old ones). Years ago, her sister called her at work-- "Come home now! Mom's selling your comics!" Grandma was selling them for a nickel a piece, when some of them were already worth $25 to collectors. Moms just don't get it sometimes.

KayleHylian In reply to MinLeanneVerrill [2009-10-28 02:02:47 +0000 UTC]
She didn't exactly tell me, but I gather that she declared there was some emergency at home and ran out, got in her car, and rushed home to have an argument with my grandmother.
My grandfather (her dad) had an interest in comics too, but obviously grandma didn't. My grandfather tells me he once had some of the original comics for Superman, but he lost them...his mom might have gotten rid of them. Moms. I've also heard of mothers selling priceless baseball cards, they can't imagine that this "junk" can be worth anything.
To be fair, DC and Marvel comics publish so many comics these days I don't think any of the new ones are worth anywhere near as much as the old ones are.
