Kite was a pretty easy cosplay. I was shocked honestly. Lol. The main thing I can suggest to ya is keep the game up while you're making him. I started by looking at pictures online and not one had the same details on his pants. The game version was easiest and I was able to turn the camera for whenever I was questioning some of the details. Otherwise, if you have any muslin or some scrap fabric laying around, I'd say start there. Sadly, Kite's undershirt started as an idea of how I wanted to make the undershirt and vest. The fabric I originally got for the undershirt was too white, so I stuck with an unbleached muslin. ! His bag and belts were made of vinyl. If you have the time, you can try to do the diamond design on his bag, but mine seemed to turn out fine without the diamonds. ^_^ I hope this info helped slightly. Thats ok, I know life gets busy.

The hat was really tricky. I didn't get the dip in his hat like I wanted to, but maybe you can work it out where I couldnt. Lol. The hat was made in quite a few pieces because this was my first attempt at a hat. ^_^;;; I started with the bottom band because I knew the ear flaps were not extra pieces. So I took some muslin, and drew out an inch and a half wide band as long as my head is around with two dips in it so that it could cover my ears. It took a few tries, but I got it as close as possible. I didn't want any raw edges or seams showing, so I cut two and sewed them together. Now I'm not sure if you noticed this in game, but the flaps have black holes in them. I tried thinking of some way to cut holes and add those in, but I couldn't do it without fraying. So I just sewed in(for no reason really. lol.) an extra piece of a light-weight black cotton to make the flaps look darker.

The center band was a pain in my butt because as I stated before, I wanted the little dip in the hat around the silver design in the center. I hate to say I never got it to work and just used one long band comparable to the first one without the flaps. The crown was a lot of fun and likely the easiest of it all. As we know Kite's hat puffs off his head and thats hard to do without having some kind of pillow under your head. Lol. I still wanted to keep that soft and fluffy look, so I put some fusible fleece on the back of the after adding the sun. You are welcome to try it either way. The sun shape was fun because it is off-center on his hat and not every point is the same, so I didn't need to worry. <3! All I did was cut a circle out and just made a bunch of triangle points to form the sun. After, I cut out some wonder web/under(or stitch witch/heat n bond)and ironed it down to the hat. Stayed like a charm. ^_^!

Last but not least is the design on the front. I was lucky enough to find a button that looked very close to the one on his hat at Jo-anns. I dont know if they still have it anymore, but its worth a shot in looking, or to try to find something else similar. The weird little U around it was a pain as well. Seeing as I couldn't get the dip in his hat, I was determind to try to make the U design look close to metal like the button. I searched high and low for months for anything similar of that I could modify, but I had no luck, so I gave in and just got some fabric paint. I practiced on some spare fabric before going on the real thing.

Lol. I tend to do that with a lot of cosplayers that come through. The only way I can really show I'm an otaku at this place is by wearing jewelry of any sort. Then again, I have learned over the past eight years the little details about a person to tell if they are a cosplayer or not. XD! Kinda sad its taken me that long. But anyways, I searched all over, and I likely searched in the wrong spot, but I couldn't find any pics of the new cosplay your are working on. Can ya point me to them? <3

Lol. I guess the fabric store is a perfect environment for that. Grocery stores- not so much. XD Though I have met a few others because of work... Super fun times though. I need to expand my cosplaying circle, since I just moved down to the valley. Now I'm major excited!

I've been thinking about trying to go to out of state cons if I have friends living in them, but I'm not 100% sure yet. >< Its seeming to cost a lot more money than expected. Lol. Otherwise, what cons ya plan on going to next? My cosplay group plans on deciding all that info this weekend. We will have to hang out sometime during them and chat. ^_^! I just moved down from Flag. Ha ha, terrible time of year to do that. Seriously, I'm going to die. X_x

Cons are so expensive already, but it's the hotels that really rack up the costs. Ugh! Plus work means I can't ever get holiday weekends off, and it seems like that's when the best cons are.

Other than Saboten, I have no plans. I'm just getting back into the con swing, for years I hadn't been able to justify the expenditures. I haven't really even looked into what's available...

Yeah, I've noticed that cons are getting rather expensive recently. Not sure how much of that is due to the economy though. Lol. Hopefully things will start dropping soon so we can try to get to more cons. <3

Saboten's prices are the reason I'm likely not to go. I really love conventions, but I hate the person that runs sabo and I just can't understand the prices with it being such a big con. -shrug- Maybe I'm weird. Lol.

I'll be sure to let you know if I do go to sabo or not. If I dont, we will have to find sometime we aren't working and hang out. ^_^!

The price for Sabo seemed fairly average to me- though my basis for comparison is Fanime, and that's probably a bit unfair... But yeah, $40-45+ is a lot for one weekend. *sighs*

Anywho, I hope you plan on doing a .hack cosplay soon. <3! I've only got about four people left in my group(including me) joining for the .hack gathering. ^_^;;; Some have backed out due to money and health, but I'll get them back into the group at the next con. <3

As for Taiyou, I'm not quite sure yet. I had most of it set, then my friend had to cancel because of health...-sigh- Oh well, at least she will be getting better. ^_^! What I know of for now is that I'm doing Kite on the later part of Friday and all Saturday. All the rest of the time is still up in the air. @-@ What about you? <3

Haven't had time to sew it yet. But hopefully I will soon! *uses my grandmother's old sewing machine* I have a feeling that I'll need more than the three bags of stuffing I bought for it though. Thankfully, with it being as fluffy as it is, it shouldn't be too hard to have like a zipper or a small spot to open it up and add or take away from the stuffing. <3 Anywho, what are you doing this tuesday?
