Hi, IΒ΄m annoying you again with a question I have this part on a model, which looks just normal in PMDe, but when I open it in MMD, it turns shiny and looks like a metal. I have tried to check it in Blender, but it looked normal... IΒ΄ve noticed that the DT bases I have have similar effect - they have no toons, sph or effects applied, but they get a shinier surface when loaded in MMD. Do you have any idea what causes this and how do I remove it?

Hi LearnMMD, I have a question about TDA hair rules. They say that it can only be put on TDA models. Does it mean that I can use a TDA base and non-TDA-styled head or the model is no longer considered as TDA model?

Having issues with motion data. I've been using the Motion for Lily - Hybrid, and no matter what model I use for the Lily part, it always ends up kind of leaning forward, like the legs stay too far back. I used to know how to fix this, but I've been away from MMD a looong time. It's like when you move a model but leave the IK bones of the feet behind them.

its probably the problem with the bones or the motion data youll have to edit the motion data to fix it

Hi, do you guys have MMD for Dell (the computer, not model) ? I have been looking on the download page but every time I download any old ones, news or anything it's failing to open or download. Thanks.

What is the model of your computer, and what version are you trying to download? Β Try downloading an older version, and if that doesn't work, inform me of what kind of error it's pulling up. Β Hope it helps!

I must say that your website lacks a lot regarding effects and advanced techniques. If you need some more articles about effects, this programmer is at your service.
I'm also making a tutorial series to cover PMX editor from alpha to omega.

I saw the article on your site about configuring .fx files to adjust MME effect settings, but it doesn't quite cover what I'm trying to do. That and I never quite know what to look for and edit in the .fx files.

I have a fog effect and would like to change the color of it from black to yellow. The .fx file has many lines where the word 'color' is used and one specific instance of 'FogColor' but none of it makes sense to me.

Would you be able to look it over and tell me what lines I should change and why?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wampa842 In reply to PhantomPhan14 [2014-04-30 10:22:52 +0000 UTC]

[Programmer here]
Colour is usually defined in the first section of the file. Look for a line that begins with float3 or float4 and ends with float3(numbers) or float4(numbers), like:
Float4 Color = float3(1.0,1.0,1.0,1.0);

Those are called definitions and define most of the effect's properties, so you have to change one of those to change the colour.

Send me a link to the file if you want me to find the exact line to modify.

I tried futzing with the 'float4 FogColor' numbers but it didn't seem to do anything.

Since you are a programmer, is this effect stuff all written in direct X what language uses it? (I only know to use LUA, VBasic and Pascal)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wampa842 In reply to tsukiyama-art [2014-04-30 15:28:16 +0000 UTC]

Effects are written in HLSL, which is a derivative of C++, so it uses C's syntax.Β

How does rigging work? I found a tutorial, but I don't understand it at all. It's the only thing left to do before my model reaches completion narokusanagi.deviantart.com/ar…

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

LearnMMD In reply to NaroKusanagi [2014-04-10 10:10:17 +0000 UTC]

It depends on what sort of rigging you are looking to do <3
There are three stages to rigging.

1. Weighting. Making specific parts of the model move with a specific bone.
2. Physics. Giving parts of the model movement. E.g. Skirts or hair.
3. Joints. 'Pins' the physics to the model allowing them to work. Without these the physics will not work.

What type of glitching are you getting on your model?

NaroKusanagi In reply to LearnMMD [2014-04-10 10:30:26 +0000 UTC]

I think it's the weighting thing...
The arms keep getting left behind with the sleeves...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LearnMMD In reply to NaroKusanagi [2014-04-10 12:08:08 +0000 UTC]

Ahh~ Indeed it is

So, when you move the models arm bones, nothing follows it? Not the arms nor the sleeves? Or is it the arms bones that get left behind when the whole model is moved?Β

If it is only the arms and the sleeves, I can link you more advanced weighting tutorials to fix the problem but if it is that the arm bones get left behind with the arms and sleeves, then it becomes a bone problem and is more easier to fix

NaroKusanagi In reply to LearnMMD [2014-04-10 12:34:59 +0000 UTC]

It's only the arms and sleeves :/
I hope it's not too complicated...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LearnMMD In reply to NaroKusanagi [2014-04-10 13:01:59 +0000 UTC]

Okay~Β

Here are a few helpful tutorials that can help you with your problem:

mmdyesbutterfly.deviantart.com… (This is a good one which shows you how to rig/weight a top onto a model. Although that is not execrably what you are looking for, it shows you exactly what to do with the arms. )

mmdfakewings18.deviantart.com/… (A small guide on what level of weighting can help when rigging.)

desu-prince-karen.deviantart.c… (This is slightly easier than the first tutorial and may help, but it may be a little too simple. Worth a look at though.)

Helpful Tip: You can actually rig both the arms and the sleeves at the same time! This gives them the exact same rigging which means they will move together exactly the same.

If you need any more help, feel free to ask!
