# About me
I've been a photographer and writer most of my life. In high school, I got several friends interested in serious photography and darkroom work. Two of them became professionals: one a professor of fine arts, who exhibits frequently and the other a successful, working professional. Me? After working my way through college with my camera and typewriter, I chose a different path. For that, I could be called Todd Marinovich!Life takes crazy twists and turns, and if I had it to do over again, I would have stayed with the visual side, the photography, as well as writing. Writing, though highly specialized, is pretty much how I make my living now. Hindsight, as they say, is 20-20, and I like to encourage people where I can, because I hope no one else looks back and wishes that he or she had stayed with their passion and fought for their dream.
I'm still a serious amateur photographer, as well as working with vector graphics programs and Photoshop. In my job, I travel all over and meet people in all kinds of exotic places. I'm resolved to start taking more time for myself when I am on the road and concentrate more on photography.
As much as I miss darkroom and chemical work, I must say that digital photography offers an unlimited horizon of opportunity. I think that as one grows as a person, that their photographic interpretation of the world will evolve; the one can help drive the other. I believe that, because I think photography is essentially a way of seeing the world around us and capturing our impressions, and as we see, we come to know things, which in turn changes us so we see things a bit differently. It's a lit like the old expression, "The dancer becomes the dance".
My aim each day is to thank God that I have been given another day here, to learn something and to express outwardly the joy that I feel in being alive, no matter the circumstances.
