Hey, first of all, I wanted to thank you for favoriting some of my pictures. Second, I was wondering if you could help me get more people to vote on those pictures. I'm trying to determine everyone's favorite part about the fifth season, and if more were to cast their votes into the comments section, I would be more than appreciative of that.Β

Well, personally, one of my favorite parts is also one of the most criticized--namely, Princess Luna's issues in 'Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?'. To put it simply, more than a few internet critics have slammed the episode for not taking Luna's mental problems seriously and suggesting that the show is making light of the issues of depression and self harm. I have different perspectives on the whole thing that I'm working on writing up as a journal post.
Also, I did like the CMCs getting their cutie marks.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty deep. Just to think that she created that monster to give her nightmares for five years sends chills down my spine. The episode does touch on the concept of guilt in an impressive manner, and that's what I mainly view it as: an episode about guilt. It's about forgiveness of oneself and gathering the courage to move forward. On top of that, it treated us to a magnificent orgy of creativity. Everything from Princess Big Mac, to Giant Derpy, to Lyra and Bon Bon as catdog was imagination at its best.

Here's the thing about Luna's nightmare monster--no one ever actually said how long it's been around. If it was years, then I would agree that Luna's got some serious issues and needs help.
Days...I think it might have been more along the lines of Luna's take on self-therapy. Working through her issues in an environment that she didn't think would affect anyone else.
And I will go back and vote on the other pictures when I get off work tomorrow.
