Your work is looking good! Just keep pushing yourself to new levels every time you shoot. Im self taught so anything is possible.

Self-taught?! Wow!
I haven't been modelling for all that long, but I like to think I've progressed in that time. I try to keep pushing myself and trying out new ideas - it's better to have tried and failed than stayed in my comfort zone, I think.
How long have you been holding your camera?

Thats great...Thats exactly what Ive done...try everything!
Never stay in your comfort zone....nobody accomplishes amazing things by staying there. Ive been shooting about 3 years btw.

Yeah, sounds great!! plus u guys have all the best natural landscapes over there, as is evident in your pics.... though unfortunately the closest ill likely get is Switzerland for work. Maybe one day...

We do have some great locations over here - I wish I had time to shoot in them all. Having looked at your gallery you don't seem short of amazing landscapes either.
That's a real shame. Yeah, maybe one day...

Well, short of a few that were taken in japan, those were all taken in my home town in North Carolina, which has a nice downtown area, with some nice old houses, but we definately dont have the rocky beaches, castles, canals, and woodlands the UK does. atleast without doing a whole lot of hiking, lol.

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2009-12-23 22:41:00 +0000 UTC]

Japan? Wow!
I am a big fan of castles and old buildings (as you can probably see from some of my photos) and the UK has got a lovely lot of them! Beautiful, when it's not raining...
I have a friend that used to live in North Carolina - it's a shame she doesn't any more or I would have come to visit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2009-12-24 05:31:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that is a shame. and unfortunately, i didnt get a chance to visit any of the castles last time i was over in japan (was there for work....), but hopefully ill get to go back this year and have some extra time to go exploring, and take a trip to Osaka, and Kyoto, where the biggest castles are.

I'd love to go to Japan, must be amazing. What kind of work took you there? I look forward to seeing some photos the next time you go!

i work in the nuclear industry,so i get to travel to alot of places around the US, and parts of Spain, mexico, japan, taiwan, and switzerland. the problem is, i dont get alot of time off while im on the the road so i dont get to do alot of sight seeing..... i got lucky with that job in japan, and had a few days off here and there. it is cool as hell over there and very different too!

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2009-12-29 01:00:08 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late reply, I've had a busy few days.
The nuclear industry sounds interesting, what does that involve? And why all the travel?
Sorry about all the questions. Hope you're well.

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2009-12-31 20:10:03 +0000 UTC]

all is well here, hope u have a great new years!! the nuke industry isnt bad, i mostly do remote inspections of the reactor internals, and i do all the traveling because im a contractor for GE, so i dont work at a specific plant, but travel all over doing inspections at independently owned plants. i also occasionally re-fuel the reactors, and do modifactations to the reactor. thats my job in a nutshell, wat so u do1? pro-model or is that just a side thing? well have fun on new years and try not to get too drunk, lol

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2010-01-01 02:22:52 +0000 UTC]

That sounds really interesting - although quite dangerous at times. I'm still in full-time education but I model on the side as a bit of a hobby. I'm not sure if I want to do it professionally yet though.
Happy New Year to you too, I hope you had a wonderful evening. What did you do to celebrate?

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2010-01-06 00:36:29 +0000 UTC]

New Years was good, drank a good bit andd took pictures for a local club i frequent. then once the bars closed, grabbed some breakfast at the local greasy spoon, then off to bed. it was a good night, lol. how bout you?

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2010-01-07 12:20:28 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like a great night indeed! My best friend was going to spend it alone so I invaded her house with some DVDs and a bottle of wine. It was a lovely night.
It's a bit late for Christmas but we've got about 8 inches of snow at the moment - I'm practically snowed into my house! All the roads are jammed with cars and everything is total chaos. Looks pretty though...

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2010-01-08 02:37:42 +0000 UTC]

thankfully, we got no snow, but ill be seeing plenty of it over the next few months when i get to Illinois for work...... not happy.... im glad u had a good new years. nothing wrong with a good quiet night with friends. if im lucky ill get some decent pics while im on the road next month. maybe.... its a bit hit or miss in illinois. anyway, im getting rdy to do some photography work for a local clubs Fight Nite. so ill ttyl.

Hi, long time no speak. How are you? Are you still in Illinios?
All the snow over here is gone which is a shame, and I didn't even get to shoot in it! I do have a couple more photos in my gallery if you fancy a look though.
Hope you're well.

all is well, especially since im not in Illinois!! im in Georgia instead. ill definately check out ur pics tho. i (stupid me) didnt bring my camera on this job thinking (again, stupid me) that there would be nothing to shoot........ but oh well.... next time i will slap myself for such silly thoughts.

What's wrong with Illinios?!
It's a shame you didn't have your camera with you, I hear Georgia is really beautiful. How's work there going?

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2010-02-07 03:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Illinois is WAY TOO COLD for me!!! atleast this time of year. its not so bad during the late spring and summer. but GA is quite beautiful, and im still not sure why i didnt bring my camera with me. works going ok, for the last few weeks its been easy, mostly paperwork and setup, but starting monday its going to get a bit more hectic. probly doesnt help im trying to stay up all night to reset my sleep scheduale, because im going on night shift, starting monday, but of course i prefer night shift anyway. mornings are highly over-rated anyway, unless ive already been up all night. hows things going on your side of the world?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2010-02-08 20:05:12 +0000 UTC]

I agree - I don't do mornings!
Everything here is good thank you. I haven't shot in ages which is starting to get to me: I get withdraw symptoms I think. I've been doing quite a lot of design work and writing too, as well as catching up on my reading. I'm actually designing a tattoo for one of my mum's work-mates which is rather awesome. Plus I've got all my exams this year so life's pretty hectic!
Good luck with shifting your sleep pattern around. When do you get to go home?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2010-02-15 05:57:40 +0000 UTC]

Im supposed to be going home around Mar 6th, but in this industry that tends to be more of a guideline than a set date. unfortunately, its to be short lived since i have to go to taiwan for 2 months on the 15th. i will be taking my camera to taiwan, so i should be able to get some cool shots over there. I hope your exams went well. i could never bring myself to go to college, there was so little i wanted to study there that i couldnt either teach myself or learn from field work. anyway, i should probly stop b4 i get on a rant, lol.So what are you studying in school? oh, i did end up getting snow here after all, in the last place i expected it. but thankfully it was only for a day and didnt stick for long.

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2010-02-17 13:42:35 +0000 UTC]

Wow, you must get pretty tired of running around all over the world. Does your family mind that you spend a lot of time away? (Assuming you have one, that is.) I look forward to seeing your shots of Tiawan too - please let me know when they're uploaded!
I'm taking fine art, textiles, english and photography at college in September. At school I'm taking a few more subjects but nothing non-creative really interests me these days.
Hope the snow didn't cause too many problems. Shame you didn't have your camera with you.
Have a good day.

Wow, thats quite the class load!! makes my brain hurt thinking about it.... as to my family, they dont mind much, its just my parents and grand parents, ive been single for a bit over a year now (no i was never married) so the only person at my Apt that misses me is my cat lol. the snow didnt cause too many problems, just some wrecks, and i almost ran over this idiot that was helping at one of the wrecks, but that was due to not being able to see him since he was standing between the lights of the ambulance that had its lights pointed right at me..... but otherwise it just meant i had to leave for work 30mins earlier that day. As too Taiwan, i really dont care for the place, but maybe seeing it through the camera's eyes will make it better... i hope.... still i aught to be able to get some good pics while im there, in fact, ill probly post some while im there since my laptop has PS-CS4 on it now.

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2010-02-23 17:48:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's pretty hard work but hopefully it'll be worth it.
I have three cats at home - I swear they're more like people than some people I know!
The weather here is utterly awful at the moment: freezing cold, rain, hail... I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to walk home every day.
When are you going to Taiwan? I think you should think yourself lucky - I'd love to go travelling, but I doubt I'll ever be able to. I'm sure you'll capture some stunning moments while you're there.
Have a good day.

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2010-03-02 03:08:08 +0000 UTC]

Wow, that is some horrid weather, its just kinda chilly here, and slowly but surely warming up, but im sure that will change as i write this lol. but i leave for taiwan on the 15th of march, 17-20hrs stuck on a plane not able to have a smoke, and having to eat some of the worse food imaginable. oh how i look forward to that..... but alas, i do love the traveling, its just some of the places i go that im not too fond of. atleast this time i will have some friends there to show me around and my camera to give me a different view of things. if im lucky ill get some good night shots, though i wish i had time to pick a remote shutter b4 i leave. oh well, maybe next year.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Loreena-x In reply to JaisenStarnes [2010-03-02 18:28:05 +0000 UTC]

I've never been on a plane for more than a couple of hours, although I don't envy you that journey. I hope the food's not too bad!
I'm going to Barcelona in April which will be my first time in Spain. Unfortunately there will be no time for modeling though as I'm going with school, but I will get to see lots of famous monuments and do some shopping.
How long are you in Tiawan for? I hope you have a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing photos!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JaisenStarnes In reply to Loreena-x [2010-03-04 22:15:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh trust me, the food is BAD!!! though i got lucky and only have 2 layovers, and one of them is in tokyo, so it is nearly a direct flight. i plan on sleeping most of the flight there anyway, A) because i hate flying, and B) so the jet lag isnt so bad when i get there. i did manage to get a apartment since i will be there for about 2 1/2 months. its cheaper than a hotel, and i will have a kitchenette.
Barcelona sounds awesome!! wish i was going there instead of taiwan. i almost went to spain last year for work, but they didnt end up needing me, even after all the crap i had to go through to get a work visa there. i hope you have a great time! is it for a school abroad type thing, or a psuedo-class field trip? its too bad you wont have any time for modeling, there is some fantastic scenery over there. i hope you will be able to keep in touch while your there.
