HiΒ
I'm Elsa, the founder ofΒ Global-Photos .
I'm here to invite you to take a little time to visit the group, since you are a member and I haven't seen you around muchΒ Β I'd like to see more of you!
Also, we have a contest going on, with the theme LIGHTs.Β
Check it hereΒ
Global-Photos Contest LIGHTs * OPEN TO SUBMISSIONS :iconglobal-photos:
Hello to all members of Global-Photos
I thought it would be fun to have a contest. I really like contests!
Even if you don't win, it's nice to participate - you can show your work to others!
So, what is my idea for this contest?
To run a contest in 2 categories, Photography and Photomanipulation, with the theme "LIGHTs".
What do I want to see?
Anything related to light: it can be a candle, a fireplace, a rainbow, a strange glow, sun rays, xmas lights, dim light or bright light (but, please photographers, don't photograph the sun!: you'll ruin your camera, your eyes and ours!).
Some examples of beautiful lights:

I think u got nice landscapes, u need to work more on objective and add slight effects like contrast for punching shot. Otherwise, u got great potential

No, I'm in my 3rd year now of studying environmental engineering. In high school, I came to the realization that the most good I could do for animals wasn't through treating them one at a time, but treating the problem at it's source: humanity.

Yeah? Thats a good opinion, what does environmental engineering involve? I haven't heard of that in my own country, we do have a Bachelor of Science majoring in Environment and Resource planning, I wonder if its similar.

It's lengthy, but Wiki sums it up nicely:
"Environmental engineering is the integration of science and engineering principles to improve the natural environment (air, water, and/or land resources), to provide healthy water, air, and land for human habitation (house or home) and for other organisms, and to remediate polluted sites. Further more it is concerned with finding plausible solutions in the field of public health, such arthropod-borne diseases, implementing law which promote adequate sanitation in urban, rural and recreational areas. It involves waste water management and air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, radiation protection, industrial hygiene, environmental sustainability, and public health issues as well as a knowledge of environmental engineering law. It also includes studies on the environmental impact of proposed construction projects.
Environmental engineers study the effect of technological advances on the environment. To do so, they conduct hazardous-waste management studies to evaluate the significance of such hazards, advise on treatment and containment, and develop regulations to prevent mishaps. Environmental engineers also design municipal water supply and industrial wastewater treatment systems[1][2] as well as address local and worldwide environmental issues such as the effects of acid rain, global warming, ozone depletion, water pollution and air pollution from automobile exhausts and industrial sources.[3][4][5][6] At many universities, Environmental Engineering programs follow either the Department of Civil Engineering or The Department of Chemical Engineering at Engineering faculties. Environmental "civil" engineers focus on hydrology, water resources management, bioremediation, and water treatment plant design. Environmental "chemical" engineers, on the other hand, focus on environmental chemistry, advanced air and water treatment technologies and separation processes."
It's kind of a mix of civil and chemical engineering.
