Summoning CirclesErin hated the weather in Texas. Seasons melded together into an immense cluster of humidity and light jackets. She had driven for hours, passing welcome sign after sign. She almost praised God when she finally reached the furthest point of the United States. Almost.
Having not seen such a sign since passing into Oklahoma, she wasn't entirely sure if she had entered Texas at all. It did not become clear until her last stop at a gas station where a clerk in overalls spit into a cup and said, "This is 'nader weather."
"Tor-na-does," Erin reminisced. "Southerners. Anything that has more than one syllable is simply too exhausting for them."
She shuddered. Hours of driving had brought her to her final destination. A destitute farm in the middle of nowhere at the center of a massive storm system. Winds tore at the roof of a local rancher's rotten barn. Wooden planks that had lost their color and strength suddenly came alive. They shook around her. Animals cooed and whinn &
Sun RisingHer light surrenders.
Everything seems faraway,
adrift in setting suns.
Rivers push against her;
waves that never relent.
A wind kisses the surface;
wounds mend and drift away.
Her eyes struggle forward,
searching for tomorrow...
- but courage overcomes.
And the sun endures.
