It makes me want to write my own version of it only with my AtLA OCs...though it takes place in 90s/00s-time so I don't know if things would be simpler or if language barriers would still be prevalent...

Language could still be an issue, depending on how you spin the AU. If some version of the war is still on, even if it's only on the scale of a gang war, then language would be a very pressing issue. If there's no war, then it'll be less important.

I used a compilation of Shakespear's plays in their original diction for reference to old-timey spellings and flavor. I think I got it off the Project Gutenberg site, although it's been a fair while since I wrote the fic.
