Hiya, I'm MissRaptor. I love beasties of all sorts. I've always wanted to work as a creature designer and breathe life into my work with raw materials.I have a BFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, minored in theatre and was a founding member of a puppet company based in Indiana, PA. I've had costume making experience since 2001, with four of those years as a costume designer at the halloween company Specter Studios, designing many costumes and a few masks (gaining mold making knowledge and techniques along the way).

Do you have any tips on using a resin skull base when making a fursuit head?

Well, let's see.Β Scoring the surface with a razor/box cutter is best when using hot glue, or any glue for that matter.Β Especially if you're using a skull and not a full head resin base.Β It'll give a surface more of a traction to stick to.Β Painting and sealing the skull first is the best way to start off.Β Also, of course, making sure the hinges work (and elastic or springs).Β Make a pattern out of paper and tape to use as a pattern to cut the fur while the skull is positioned on the head armature.Β It's not really good to use a styrofoam head, as the proportions are off, but if you do, leave a good seam allowance and add more of a length to the neck area.Β I sew in zippers to the pieces when sewing them all together, then adding them to the mask, or furred face base.Β If that makes sense.Β Does that answer anything?Β I hope I'm not too confusing! ^_^

If you mean mesh, you can use chiffon, or screen material for windows.Β Or a combo of both for extra darkness.Β

I'm hoping this is resolved before Halloween (seeing most of the main cons have long gone while my paid project was paused for 5 months in favor for personal projects). I don't want to take further action, but I am telling myself to wait until the 30th. Can you blame me though ? It's been well over a year and 3 months since my complete payment..
