Heya! Thanks for the comments, sorry for the delay - Things are a mess as far as life on DA goes... You know those days it feels like you have a billion and one things to do?!
But I'm pretty sure I watched you on this for future reference, and yeah, Doom 3 does rock... Haven't had the pleasure of Halo 2 yet as I'm back to RPGs!

Moto-Sarah In reply to Sinkingin [2005-01-17 00:52:41 +0000 UTC]
No problem! Yeah... I do know those days where there's so much to do you think you'll never get it all done... GRR!! I hate those days.
Ah? You haven't played Halo 2... did you mean Half Life 2 by HL2 then? Or something I'm not aware of? Because half life 2 is awesome too.. except that if I play it for too long I feel sick... odd that. It's the only game that does that to me.
Not much of an RPG fan myself.. they frustrate me -chuckle- I like fast paced shooter games and those where you have to think. But good for you man! What RPG's do you like?

Sinkingin In reply to Moto-Sarah [2005-01-17 13:43:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I meant Half Life 2 sorry! That was indeed a great game, though I had to play it through on a bad graphics card... I know what you mean with the motion sickness. HL2 is the first game in ages to that to me as well.. Though as long as I'm not feeling sleepy when I'm playing it, I'll be fine... With HL2 I'd stay up all night and day playing it, back then I didn't have anything else to do as we were waiting to move house!
RPGs... What do you find fustrating about them?
Diablo, NWN, Dungeon Siege are ones I've played and enjoyed but I only play them cooperatively with other people if I can, playing alone gets kinda boring. Just having someone by your side makes any game a lot better I think.
Alone though, I play Morrowind a lot, in fact after spending days on it, I've started *all* over again because I cheated and it stopped being fun. You've probably heard of it and I guess it's a little slow paced, being all swords and magic, but dealing with nasties up close and personal is always fun -- Just take the chainsaw in Doom3! I always made a point of cutting down from their head to feet for some reason...
Ahh, thinking about it I want to play it again now... It's a shame it doesn't have some larger spaces for larger battles. It would probably be my perfect game then. That's the problem with having pretty graphics I guess... You ever play Doom 2? Now that's probably my favourite game of all time.

Hmmm... well... I just can't get into RPG's.... like you said yourself, they can get a little boring. I suppose I just prefer a little more action. Not all of them are frustrating... but lets take Final Fantasy for example... that game just annoys the hell out of me. I'm usually a patient person, but I just can't sit through all that story telling... and figuring out a strategy to kill the badies is annoying because I'd really rather blast them all at once... -chuckle-...
Yep I've heard of Morrowind... the story line behind it is quite cool... never actually played it though. I know what you mean about cheating... I used to play Tomb Raider a lot and then I started cheating my way through them... it just totally took the fun out of getting through it myself.
lol! about the chainsaw in Doom 3... It's so funny how it gets like that. I haven't played Doom 3 a lot... but when I have, I've liked it.. and certainly the "scare factor" is awesome! I did infact play the original Doom's. You're right, they were a lot of fun But what I like about D3 is the cool sound and lighting effects... plus the monsters are so much scarier! The first time I played it my heart was beating so fast, so that when the first monster launched itself at me I yelped and moved the mouse so I was shooting at the ceiling... lol... aaah... good times

FF certainly isn't my favourite either, what annoys me most about those is the fact they make you watch stupid animations instead of letting you play the game... If I wanted to sit watching my screen, I'd get a DVD! That said, it is the only game I've played at length on my ps2. =s
Haha, you know I was too scared to play tomb raider when it first came out? Man, those wolves and that bear were terrifying!! I just remember jumping into the water a lot... There was nothing nasty there!
I'm sure everyone can remember their scariest moments from D3. That first monster was certainly one of mine... Though later on in the game you encounter these like clipped-wing-baby-monster things. Those I personally hate more than anything else... It's also when your back hits a wall and some monster is bearing down on you that really gets my heart going.
Some of the later maps are truly amazing too, I don't know how far your played into it though, so I'll say no more. Though I have to say I feel I'm missing out slightly, as I'm forced to turn the cool shadow effects off to keep my old computer up to speed, sadly when it comes to spending my money, photography is always at the front of the line.

Yeah... let's agree that FF is complete and utter crap... at the best of times! YOU MUST STOP PLAYING IT AT ONCE!! Or at least forget you ever did.... j/k
Lol!.. Too scared to play TR? Yeah but you are so right!! It freaked the hell out of me too because those damned wolves and bears used to sneak up behind you... I recall screaming a few times until I got the hang of it. Plus you could hear monkeys and lions running around in other levels but you never quite knew where they were. Yeah... the water was an excellent place to go... until they got wise to that and added crocadiles to the AI list... lol..
I need to play D3 more... MORE I SAY!! Although it could be more fun to watch someone else play and get freaked out.. rather than me.
You ARE missing out!! lol... poor old computer. You're missing out on the full heart attack factor! Did you ever play the multiplayer D3? I have a couple of times and it's wicked fun. It's like being in one of those laser skirmishes or something... but on the pc. You can hide in the shadows and wait for an unsuspecting player to walk by you and then blast them... makes for a lot of laughter.

Well, I've started playing D3 again now... Dropped down to medium quality and its fast enough to play now with the shadows on!
I've had to make it less scary for myself (my own music & the lights on weapons mod) after I got scared to death at the beginning when I first got the shotgun. There's still some bits which *really* got to me, which I forgot even existed... I can't wait to get back to Delta Labs again.
As for Muliplayer D3, I've not had the pleasure, as back when I did have gaming friends, only 2 of us could actually run D3! I'm on a slooow connection now so there's no chance of playing it online either! But yeah, it sounds like it would be great fun!
