You are very welcome. Any JJ-Prise image is worthy of a look and comment especially coming from a family of modellers who take pride in their work.

Well like my old man says "if you're going to attempt a job you may as well make it the best attempt you can". I'd been asked just before going away on holiday to do the conversions, not all of them but just one or two off a list of populars.

Thanks. I'm working on a new set of plans that follow the basic design of the Chariot Class but with a different aspect to the functionality of the ship's design.

Why thank you very much! I do try my best to provide as accurate, detailed and complete plans as possible. One problem being a CADD Designer: you are NEVER satisfied and you can ALWAYS find mistakes. lol

Its not limited to CADD I think every artist suffers from the same malady, we are never satisfied by our own work. With me theres always some detail that looks wrong and needs fixing in my meshes, thats probably why my graveyard is over 100dvds now full of "incomplete" meshes.

Well i will say that it's easier to spot mistakes in 2D drawings. Even now, with having four views done, I can still see spots that need fixed but I am content to doing final fixes at the end when the deck plans are done. Seeing as though I placed all my windows a certain way on my ship, i know the deck plans will ultimately dictate position and thusly, will need to reflect that on the orthos.

There is that but translating those 2d views into a 3d object presents even more angles from which to see mistakes. Its a no win scenario lol, some of us don't believe in such or nothing would ever get rendered.

I hear ya. Back in the day, i once tried to model a ship i had worked on (think it was around '95 or so), and it wasn't bad for the time and tech and I do understand about how you design something in 2D, you tend to forget the implications of your actions until you have to translat, as you say, the 2D linework to 3D. hell, there are times when i am doing 2D, that i wished I did the ship with paper and pencil. Oh well, such is life in the digital world...it's what makes our work interesting.
