# About me
Norma Tomboulian is an accomplished sculptor and painter who also loves to knit, cook, and interact with her four grown children. Her sculptural technique is unusual in that she creates them hollow, standing the clay on edge, unlike most artists who create them solid and then hollow them out. This means allowing the bottom to harden to support the rest as she works her way up, a tricky technique that can lead to cracking if not done with care. It's a real balancing act. More than mastering the technique is her ability to capture the essence of the personality she portrays. She says she doesn't believe in generic faces. Our similarities make us human; it's our differences that make us individual. She is finding watercolors a pleasure and a continuing challenge. All her work is copyrighted, and none of it is stock.-Teddie McConnell (her second daughter and deviant teddiem, also photographer for many of her pieces.)

I am doing well, as you can probably tell from my journal. Do you know the old story aboutthe optomist and the pessimist?

Wyane, you are always welcome - even if I don't respond to these every time. One reason is, they disappear!

Thank you! It has taken a long time, and I'm still learning. I think that with any painting that doesn't work right, 9 times out of 10 it's the drawing that's at fault. So learn to draw well - and be sure it works before you go on to paint...
