Hiya! Yep I'm still here, just not actively on the site like I used to be. I check every day though.

Oh, same here kind of. I check from time to time to look at pictures or search for fan art. Deviantart is pretty much dead to me in the other departments, many people we knew here have left.

Nope. but her account is still there so she hasn't left completely. She just hasn't been active.

btw do you still listen to the same music as I do?

DiaSam1 In reply to NOVA32 [2017-05-01 18:10:32 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I've seen. :/

Partly, I'm not too much into the extreme stuff anymore, and I also have some new music tastes (more calm music). But I still do enjoy heavy and the occasional death metal (I'm still no expert between the many different metal genres so bear with me just naming only a few of the biggest). I put on playlists and mixes in the background while I do other things, and if I really like a song, I save it. But I don't really go out of my way to search for bands, don't have too much time for that.

Agreed... but in general I'm not too much into the screaming and growling scene anymore. Still listen to some sometimes, but now I listen more to... well... youtu.be/t9xA1Lvd37E?t=58s More chilled out and funky tunes. The extreme metal was too much on my nerves after a while. xD

Though regularly I still love to listen to more harmless rock/metal, like Skillet... It's simple but powerful and melodic. Really nice. And I still like Disturbed, as you might have noticed I still have this avatar.

In fact I loved the Unleashed album by Skillet, while I was playing through Dark Souls games the past months their albums was almost the only thing I've been listening to. If you know some bands similar to their sound, I would love your input.

Since you still listen to them sometimes check out Breakdown of Sanity (their breakdowns are insane, hence their name lol this is one of my favorite tracks from them: youtu.be/DoAVpNcxByY  ) and Shokran (they have an awesome sound! This is the intro track from their first album: youtu.be/vmanU7Xvhqo ). They are not quite as extreme as the other band but they are still extreme.

Red, We as human, Gemini Syndrome, From Ashes to New, breaking benjamin all similar (imo) to skillet. There are more but I don't wanna list them all right now.

It's not the music I don't like, both sound incredible. It is the singing part I'm not greatly fond of anymore.

Already know Red and BB but I will give the others a try now.

Agh I was really busy this week too (and will be next week as well), it's final exams you see, as well as driving school and job applications.

I'm gonna play now and listen to the Shokran album you sent. ^^

Btw, I checked out already Gemini Syndrome. They're good, but I still like Skillet's sound better. :3 I need to listen to the others still.

Sorry again for this late reply. Some things happened that might interest you.

On Monday we had a sudden strong rainstorm. It was thundering too but I didnt see any lightning, at least from my window. The rain/wind also seemed to come from one direction, but the sky directly above us was completely cloudy and white (the rainclouds werent on top of us). It was also over pretty quick, just lasted 5-10 minutes.
Im not an expert but I thought it sounds interesting to you. I filmed a bit of it and if you want I could send you, first youd need to send me your email address in a note though.

The second and more mysterious thing happened on the night from Friday the 2nd of June to Saturday the 3rd of June. I didnt look at the time but id say it was around 1am. I was in a skype call with a friend playing a game together, when right in front of me out the window, flying across the sky was something very bright. I freaked out and I couldnt see it very clearly but it was big, quite big. If it was a "shooting star" that was the biggest one Ive ever seen. My first thought was that it was a meteor(ite) that either flew very close to earth or even passed inside the stratosphere. I also briefly thought it might have been a plane crashing but nothing like that has been in the news. It also could have been a reflection of a satellite (iridium flare?) as I heard those are very bright, but again i couldnt see very clearly. And that thing in the sky "flew" across the sky.
After it happened I checked the news, astronomy news and forums etc. Everyday but found nothing. I also searched for videos as sometimes people manage to capture something like that randomly but apparently not. Its been bugging me ever since then :/ Because if it was a shooting star, I mean thats not uncommon, but this one was much bigger than they usually appear.

Was it a microburst?

How fast was it moving?

DiaSam1 In reply to NOVA32 [2017-06-07 17:48:19 +0000 UTC]

In addition to the thunderstorm with the link I sent you: I suggest copying the text into google translate, it translates fine almost without problems.

I was indeed south of the storm, and the wind was coming from the north. That news report says that in the south a smaller, quite short thunderstorm formed (which is what I saw), but even that was quite a heavy one with very strong wind

DiaSam1 In reply to NOVA32 [2017-06-07 17:42:41 +0000 UTC]

I have looked up now and it was apparently a thunderstorm caused by a possible supercell: www.news5.de/news/news/read/11…

It wasn't very fast, it moved almost across the whole sky (as I saw it) from south to north in about 3 seconds, not like the usual meteors/shooting stars you see that flash by in less than a second.

NOVA32 In reply to DiaSam1 [2017-06-07 20:21:33 +0000 UTC]

It might have just looked like it was moving slowly because of how big it was. I'm sure you have heard about the meteor explosion in russia from 2013. That one didn't appear to move too fast on video.

I'll check it out later.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DiaSam1 In reply to NOVA32 [2017-06-08 14:23:52 +0000 UTC]

I agree and generally I think it looked so big because it was close. I'm just disappointed I didn't find any recordings of it (no news, nothing, also on astronomer and observatory sites and news). And yeah that one in Russia was shocking. Thats also partly what I thought and compared it to at that moment, that something like that might have happened (though I was freaking out and couldnt think clearly then - it pretty obviously burned out or something).

NOVA32 In reply to DiaSam1 [2017-06-10 13:33:33 +0000 UTC]

You should be glad it didnt turn out like the russian one did. xD

unless, of course, you want hearing damage and shards of glass flying at you.

DiaSam1 In reply to NOVA32 [2017-06-12 23:24:51 +0000 UTC]

I am, but... still, I'm sad I found no evidence of it later on, online.

But let's move on now. If you want to know since we like talking about music, I'm listening more to Korn and Gorillaz lately, 2 bands that everyone knows and I've known forever, but I only knew a few songs from each. Really digging both now.

Also started listening to Celldweller, if you know that band. I like the mix of rock and electronic elements like dubstep. Already before I casually listened to "epic music", some of which are also rock/dubstep hybrids. But back to Celldweller, I don't like all their songs, but the general sound...........

I hope you are comfortable where you are because its f***ing hot here. D: it was 99F here yesterday, but the feels-like temp was 106F. Today it is supposed to be just as warm, but with dew points in the upper 70s possible. The good news is that there is a high posibility of severe storms later.

Korn is okay but I'm not a fan of Gorillaz. I've heard of Celldweller but haven't heard anything by them. I'll probably check them out later.

Sorry for late reply I was on vacation, kind of. Next few weeks I have exams so I might be slow to reply as well.

It has been very hot here too, yes... Goes up to 38°C sometimes (I'm on phone, too lazy to find a converter now).
However the last few days, while at the family house in Austria, we've had strong thunderstorms, as well. I even recorded some of it, albeit it was late at night and most of it is pitch black. Whenever I got some lightnings on record they lit up everything though. It was incredible, I haven't experienced such a good storm in a long time. That was on the night from Thursday to Friday, since then there's been rain from time to time. At least now it's cloudy, breezy and a pleasant temperature. But I hope there will be more storms soon...
