teehe, I get this question frequently, but no, I am not. I have used 'mum' since I was little all though my mother still hasn't caught onto that.
I live in Wisconsin, but I don't have the accent nor do I use the stereotypical vocabulary (which sadly is about 99% accurate for the people here, especially for males) of my state. My genes are 'pretty damn French,' and I sort of 'air off' my words like I am told the English-speaking French tend to do.

I apparently, unintentionally, use an older British slang and vocabulary, in both poetry and in person, so I understand the confusion, it's common actually, so have no worries.

Zelda blinked, trying to think of what to say without grinning.
"...mmm, you must be the hero of time, because I really wanna play hide'n'Sheik."
She immediately facepalmed at her awful joke. Then she started to giggle at Vio's until the woman started SNORTING.
"I-I'm sorry, Vi, I, I just- hahaha! I can't think clearly today!" 
Zelda, who was indeed a bit french (in her human guise, of course), decided to go with the blonde man's awful pick up line. She got up and leaned on the wall, her lightly matted curls bouncing as she tossed them behind her shoulder.
"So," She /tried/ looking see-through for once.
"What's a failure of a monarch to do to earn a lil piece of heart? Hmmm? Preferably a VIOlet one?"

Vio started laughing with her, oh wow that was pretty bad, forget composure. He'd already dropped a terrible pick-up line before hand, so that probably somewhat contributed to his amusement. 
It was quite a loud laugh, oddly boisterous for someone of his nature. If other people were around you could say it was the type of laugh that you could see as perhaps not pretty, but pretty damn infectious.
Her next sentence registered a few moments later, as his laughing subsided. The grin became a smaller smile, though that wouldn't leave. Try as he might to look even slightly more serious.
He placed one hand on his hip and brought the other to his chin, a pseudo 'deep thought' pose.
" Oh I don't know ... TRI as I might not a thought crosses my mind on how one would be able to do that. You could always SHOOT me one of the idea's you had in mind?"
He stood there trying not to grin again however a short chuckle did escape him.
