Aw thanks! It's just a lot of practice, that's all.(also, having the official model files to study from doesn't hurt either )

Wow!! I'm really impressed by how spot on your pokemon 3D is to the various games, amazing stuff! What are your favorite 3D softwares to use? Do you also make the rigs? Awesome gallery dude!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nebaku In reply to LaJolly [2018-10-23 13:24:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much! Yes I make the rigs, although animation is my weakest spot so that's perhaps I should deny that they're mine instead . As for favorite programs, it's pretty much just Blender and ZBrush.

Blender is what I started learning 3d with, and by sheer coincidence has become basically an industry standard over the past decade, so there's little reason to go elsewhere for general 3d stuff. ZBrush is for more high end, extremely detailed models which are either difficult or even impossible to make in blender. So the two programs complement each others strengths and weaknesses well.Β

very nice! I always love staying current with the newest softwares but haven't gotten the chance to try Blender out. I do agree that Zbrush is an incredible tool and I'm curious if you taught yourself or had schooling? much respect and keep on makin awesome work!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nebaku In reply to LaJolly [2018-10-24 15:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Self-taught. Zbrush was actually the first 3d program I heard of and tried...which was probably the single worst way to possibly get into the field, as relatively basic concepts people talked about like topology or uv maps confused me since all I knew of was 1 million polygon models lol.

I don't plan to do schooling for it as there's nothing I feel I could learn from a teacher I can't online, but should I want to get a professional job in the field I'll do it since merely having that piece of paper means so much to companies.

And thanks! Right back at you. I didn't even realize with my first post that you did 3d, let alone probably do it better than I do lol. I just start with the assumption people I talk to don't have 3d experience.

LaJolly In reply to Nebaku [2018-10-24 20:07:19 +0000 UTC]

Pfft haha that sounds confusing to start with Zbrush, XD very commendable tho!

From my experience in the industry, I am not so sure a degree is necessary, it absolutely helps but with artists it's all about portfolio and work/team ethic.Β

Thanks in return! I do enjoy makin a 3D thing every once in a while. XDD No worries on assumptions and best to you on your art journey!

No problem dude! I love your maps so god damn much!

Actually that brings up a question I wanted to ask you. I use Rpgmaker xp+pokemon essentials for some projects, and I'm not sure if that's what you're using for some of your stuff, but on the off chance it is, how are you getting those lighting effects on your tiles? Is is merely photoshop post-production, or is there actually something in essentials for doing it that I just haven't noticed? Thanks

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Midnitez-REMIX In reply to Nebaku [2014-08-26 00:26:05 +0000 UTC]

yeah I am using the same. As for my effects, those I do over my maps in Photoshop. I've tried setting them in RMXP and they don't always work properly but I'll figure it out in time.

Hey! I'm working on a new model and I was curious to see if you have any opinions or pointers on it?

sephiros-th.deviantart.com/art…

I hope you like it :]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nebaku In reply to KronnicK [2014-04-29 03:52:39 +0000 UTC]

It is looking good indeed! Honestly you've got the most important part down, that you'd be surprised people struggle with. And that's simply achieving the form, any means necessary. There are no questionable areas or jagged parts, my eyes just understand the form completely.

So with that said, the main tip I can give you is to even out your topology. By that I mean you have a ton of loop cuts near the mouth, some in the middle, and then hardly any at the tail end. Any ONE amount of these is fine, but a model is idealistically consistent throughout(unless its lowpoly, where virtually every golden rule is disregarded)

Here, this unfinished model of mine actually shows good topology better than most of my finished ones do-Β prntscr.com/3egeov

But still, don't let that retract from your work, you did very very good!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KronnicK In reply to Nebaku [2014-04-29 19:23:44 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Your praise means a lot. I see what you mean about the topology, I think it even shows in the silhouette a bit. I'll have to get to work on that. I hope through practice I'll get a sense of topology as good as yours, that unfinished model looks flawless!

Nebaku In reply to KronnicK [2014-04-30 15:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I'd like to say I worked really hard on it, but truth be told I'm lazy as hell and that's why I do subsurf modeling, because it does all the hard work for me lol
