Hahaha. Just read TSUD first, it's better. I started to read COA and it wasn't as interesting as TSUD in the beginning.

Polish... as in Poland? Nooooo! The centralization of weakness in the world! hah. Anyways, I have just returned from 8 hours of a boring referee seminar and I knew everything already. How delightful it was.

Yea... I got myself into philosophy by STARTING with Kierkegaard. After like two chapters.. im like.. aghhh I cant focus on this. So I read 'Republic' for a while.

I like to call it the Republic, however, it's also referred to as Plato's Republic. Never just 'Republic' though. With TSUD, in the beginning Kierkegaard states his dualistic idea of the real self and the potential self. When what we want to be and what we actually are are not the same thing then we fall into despair. It is quite confusing, however, at the end of his chapters he would usually state one or more metaphorical examples which was the point where everything came clear to me. Keep reading.

Fool! Haha. I am the foolish one. I forgot to take Crime and Punishment with me to my Aunts. I'll be here until Tuesday most likely. Plans changed. Oh. We went to the Denver Library used book sale. .50 cent paperback, 2.00 hardcovers. I got 'A concept of Anxiety' by Kierkegaard and his 'Concluding Unscientific Postscript to Philosophical Fragments' which was unknown to me until I saw it. I realise I should read more before buying new books, but the sale was awesomeness. Got some cheap fiction too and a book called 'Asylum'... Should be fun. There are mushrooms growing wildly around here, especially after it rains and the sun bathes the ground in heat. I've been sick as of late, so I have not been eating much. I also found out that the school I was to attend has cancelled their day-program.. so I cant do it. I now have much free time to experiment with the underground. Shall I go for a whole week? Wednesday to wednesday? It is possible. Plus I have group on Tuesdays, so towards the end of my underground escapade I can experiment contact with the human population.
All is well on the western front, now I am off to chug Pepto-Bismol.
"So my liver hurts.. Good, then let it hurt still more!"

Haha, awesome. However, problem with Kierkegaard. The book is called "Concept of Anxiety." Either you got ripped off or you don't know the title of the book you just bought. It's the companion piece of The Sickness Unto Death. I have both from the same translators, quite awesome. As for Philosophical Fragments, I read that that was his hardest book to understand. See, you bought a worthless book!

No book should ever be considered worthless lest you be damned into 'Paper Cut Hell!'
Yes, it was 'Concept of Anxiety', I screwed up. Both are done by the same translator that did our 'The Sickness Unto Death'. I suppose I should read that one first. As for PF I think I should buy the actual BOOK before buying it's epilogue piece. (Which is quite large, by the way)

It's a great work. It reminds me of the stupid Irish building walls that were 2ft high to keep out the Brits and the equally dumb Brits that couldn't get past them!

Hey thanks for the comment on my poem (Masochist girl) there are a couple things I would like to point out though. First of all a masochist is not at all a bad thing. It is someone who, when in pain, feels pleasure. Or certain types of pain turn them on, and besides this poem is about a girl that I like it has nothing to do with anything bad.

NeroMustDie In reply to Penman-Wrath-Ensues1 [2006-05-22 21:47:39 +0000 UTC]
I understand what a masochist is. The reason I say it is bad is because it is caused by mental weakness. When a person endures pain in an abusive manor, pain in a loving manor would bring them pleasure. It's a psychological disorder. It isn't bad ethically (depending on who you are), but according to society and the self, it is very bad.

well i don't think it as bad at all. to like certain kinds of stimulation that others would dislike just makes you different.

Liking Pepsi instead of Coke makes you different, finding pleasure in pain (happiness in suffering) is a problem.

only if it is an intense amount of pain. see i don't really want to go into detail with were this came from it's a little personal. i guess you can't understand.

I understand certain people like it and I have nothing against it. I'm just trying to state that it is a psychological problem that takes a person away from what is normal.

Must you say "problem," why is it a problem to like something that is detrimental?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
NeroMustDie In reply to Penman-Wrath-Ensues1 [2006-05-25 20:59:54 +0000 UTC]
Psychologically, it is a problem. We are all born at the same state of normalcy. Due to trauma, we can easily slip into things like psychological disorders. S&M are examples of those disorders. For example, a child is "touched" by his uncle when he is young. It is likely that, without professional help, he will grow up to do the same and have the same tendencies. As I said before, I have no problem with it, but it is consider to be something bad.

Well yes and no. Only some are problems that are brought on by bad things. Is it a problem to like vegtables? No. Is it a problem to molest kids? Yes.

To stray from normality is a problem? Technically if what you say is true, we are all psychologically disturbed. If we all start normal and develop certain traits that define who we are, then all of those traits that aren't what they were, are problems?
