# About me
Hmmm, what should I tell you about me... Well, for starters, I will read just about anything I can find; some of my favorites range from romances, to humor, to books on hunting in Africa. I've handled a pellet gun and a bolt action 22 (currently being repaired, I hope), my usual targets being empty Mountain Dew cans which I sometimes spray paint bright blue. Regarding the Mountain Dew... Starting last year (2008) I began limiting myself to one every race-day, after the half-way mark has been reached. I am a fairly new, though avid fan of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, though I'm beggining to branch out into the Nationwide and Truck series as well. My very favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr. (88), but some of my other favorites include David Ragan (6), A.J. Allmendinger (44), Greg Biffle (16), Matt Kenseth (17), Marcos Ambrose (47) Tony Stewart (14), Ryan Newman (39), Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Mark Martin (24, 48, and 5)... Well, honestly, there arn't really any I truly detest. I did loathe Kyle Busch for quite some time, but now I am content to watch and see how he comes along.I also have a fondness for cars, particularly Mustangs; currently, I have a small collection of model cars, which may expand in the years to come. My very favorite movie is Cars (my main OC's are Reny, Vendredi, Jasper, Riley, Nordic, Col, and Disco. I have a few more, but they're not as well thought out or a widely used) but The Ride of Their Lives is a pretty close second.
You're probably tired of reading about me now, so relax and take a peek around to see if there's anything around here you like.
Au revoir!

i was having Cup withdrawals this past weekend. Nationwide race was cool though. Really wanted Ambrose to win it. Glad Robby didn't.
My friend brought me back a Bristol t-shirt and cap btw.

Some here. I was looking for Cup practice or something Friday, and then I remembered they had the weekened off.
I watched the Trucks Friday. Austin Dillon was good for a bit, but then he had some contact later on. Still finished ninth, though.
I too was hoping Ambrose would finally get the win, but he got bitten by bad luck yet again. I'm glad Boris did, and in spectacular fashion, too!
Awesome! Lucky!

i never am able to catch a Truck race. Seems on Fridays i'm always doing something...usually nefarious.
i watch just about any racing. Indy, F1, GT/LeMans what have you, Nationwide, and whatever else has wheels and goes fast. My best friend on the other hand...if its not Cup...it ain't worth watching. So i tried my best to get him to watch the final laps of Montreal. He wasn't having any of it.
He looked up from the laptop to see Boris Said in the Winner's Circle..."Look...what a loser!"...i just shake my head. lol

My social life is practically nonexistant, which leaves me with almost all the time in the world to persue race telecasts.
I used to be kind of like your friend when I first started watching racing, but I'm gradually expanding outwards and now watch all 3 main NASCAR series. The problem I have with some of the other forms of racing is that I'm usually at school or in bed when they're on. >.<
My Dad was rooting for Robby- Once he was out, dad didn't really care who won, lol. He's not into racing so much as I am.

My "social life" is not much to brag about to be honest. Usually consists of my best friend along with another friend of ours (sometimes) playing pool at a private pool hall. i may have exaggerated a tad bit before.
i usually don't watch any other racing until i'm at my friend's house. He has Speed channel so i can catch various forms of racing on there while he's mucking around on Facebook. i annoy him as much as possible with "LOOK LOOK LOOK aw man you missed it!". lol
i have a like-hate relationship with Robby Gordon. Sometimes i like him others complete disdain.

That sounds like good fun right now, honestly- I haven't messed with our pool table in a while. And it is still vastly more active then mine, lol.
The Speed channel is made of pure win. My friends are not really into racing at all, so I'm usually stuck watching the Cup race with my family, and the others generally alone. My family gets annoyed in the same way with me- Especially when I go on rants about something that happened on the track.
Robby to me is just... Eh. I could take him or leave him, really. My Dad says that if I want to live in this house I have to like him, so I at least pretend.

Today has been a bad day for me...thank you for the laugh. i'm still laughing.
Such an ultimatum...i think i'd be "Later, Dad". lol
The only reason i like him is because my friends and i play ESPN Stockcar Challenge and Robby sometimes is a good "loser" or "low man" pick of the week. At least that's how it used to be. ESPN changed the rules of the game...etc
Too bad ya don't live anywhere near here. Our lil' group could use some new blood. Watching the races, albeit fun as hell, is getting a little stagnant with the same guy (2guys sometimes) every week. lol
(Yes..still laughing when i imagine your dad saying "You WILL like Robby Gordon or you can leave. The End."

I'm sorry you didn't have a good day, but I'm glad I was able to make you laugh.
I would (not just because of Robby though, lol) but I don't think I'd make it very far. Still need to finish high school and college before I can safely split, I think.
That would be sweet if I did- I've yet to really find a whole lot of race fans here (then again, most of the people I know are highschoolers...). Dad usually ends up falling asleep about a quarter of the way hrough- Sometimes I end up being the only one on the couch awake- Which is not exactly a bad thing sometimes, considering how stubbornly oppinionated my dad can be.
Lol, more or less, yes! You can insert Greg Biffle in there, too- You're pretty much obligated to like them if you want to stay in the house.

"You can insert Greg Biffle in there, too- You're pretty much obligated to like them if you want to stay in the house."
Such cruel and unusual punishment.
Biffle...the only driver i know that can wreck another driver...whilst in front of him.
Eh. Yeah gotta get HS out of the way...but in college you can be a dorm rat and only have to adhere to the Gordon-Biffle Ultimatum on the weekends and holidays.
Hehe, my best friend is stubbornly opinionated as well. We've had heaps of arguments over the most mundane Nascar things. But it's fun. lol

NeverDance In reply to ekg [2010-09-03 21:10:57 +0000 UTC]
Basically whatever he says goes- Or, at least, you can't say anything about it. It's when he starts picking on my drivers that it becomes annoying, lol.
Biffle's not too bad, I don't think. There are actually only about two, maybe three drivers I have issues with on a consistant basis. I'm cool with just about everyone so long as they don't mess up my drivers.
I am anticipating my first day in college because then I can watch racing without having to worry about his complaining about what goes on, and I'll have the tv all to myself.
Oh yeah, I bet. Discussions about NASCAR are always fun, especially with friends.

i give Biffle grief mainly because he's my best friend's older brother's driver. And we just like giving him hell.
i love that one of the merits of going to college is being able to watch NASCAR unimpeded. lol
Yeah i love our discussions. i'm forever playing the Devil's Advocate. Regardless of what my views really are...i WILL argue against my best friend just for the hell of it.
i think i have Jr on my fantasy team today...i'm always hoping. lol

NeverDance In reply to ekg [2010-09-05 21:24:38 +0000 UTC]
Lol, that's always fun. I do that in my head whenever Dad makes a crack about one of my drivers. You talk about Junior speeding on pit road, but how many times did Biff do that last year? So if I berate Biffle, it's my Dad's fault.
I am so looking forward to that day. Peace, freedom... And NASCAR.
I generally take the side of whomever my Dad is against (save for a few drivers) just because I can. It's probably not smart, but oh well.
He ran well at Atlanta in the spring despite all the funky tire issues going on that day. Hoping for the same or better tonight.

Dismal. i did however make this team Thursday night...not even glancing at the practice speeds and qualifying later. So yeah...
You so should play Stockcar Challenge on ESPN against your Dad.
Awesome race tonight though! Every time i looked there was a car sideways and it did remind me of good old dirt track racing. lol.

Edwards did pretty well- I was kind of surprised, since he hasn't been doing all that well lately. Kahne was really good until that contact with Kurt mess him up.
I was surprised Brad didn't do better, considering how well he ran here in the spring (until Carl flipped him). Then again, that was more of a daytime race, and this one was at night. Such is racing.
That would be awesome! I doubt he even knows how to turn on the computer, but maybe sometime I can catch him in a good mood and we can test it out. Considering that I have every practice, lineup, and result from last season on written down, I think I might stand a chance.
Oh yeah! And there was constant racing going on throughout the entire show instead of the field becoming all stretched out behind the leader. And, as a result of all the sideways racing, a lot of truly awesome saves.

"Considering that I have every practice, lineup, and result from last season on written down..."
Hmm. i may have to ask for some advice on my lineup during the last 10 race segment.
i know it's early and all but if you'd be interested you could join our league and compete with us next season. i'm confident you'd do well.
You can practice up on your Dad during the final segment. lol

Feel free to do so. I'm interested to see how well 2 years of data actually plays out on the track. My doing so originally stemmed from the fact that every so often we'd come upon a race and ask, "Hmmm, who won this race last season?" "Uh, I have no idea." Last year I was just getting the format down for it, but this year my notebook's a lot neater and actually appears somewhat organized.
Really? That'd be neat! Thanks! I may have to take you up on that offer and do so.

i'm hoping that you do take me up on that offer. It'll definitely be fun...and believe me having five drivers you NEED to do well makes the race that much more interesting.
Omg. It's almost 3am. i have to be up at 6am. lol.
Oh...Richmond...any sleepers you think i should keep an eye on?

NeverDance In reply to ekg [2010-09-07 23:01:55 +0000 UTC]
I'll have to do that then! I bet it does make the races more interesting, and it means you have to pay close attention to where your drivers are at all times.
How have you fared on that little sleep?
Hmmm... From what I've got, Truex has been pretty decent at Richmond. He's practiced well the last three races, and finished 7th in the spring (last year's finishes were determined by his scraping the wall or having contact with someone, so they were... Well, not good). Hornish finished 6th and 8th last year, but didn't fare well anywhere in the spring race this year.

hehe. i just realised if/when you do play in our league there'll be three Jr fans against Gordon, Johnson, Kenseth, and Biffle.
i started watching Nascar about halfway through the season before Jr's rookie year in the Cup series. Back then i was only for one driver. That's it. Screw everyone else lol.
Then when we started the Fantasy teams i had to adjust and started "liking" other drivers and stop despising them as well. lol
Hmm. Truex i can go with. Hornish just makes me nervous. But...we'll see.

I'll try to get to setting everything up by at least Friday- Got a chunk of homework I've got to do tonight. *crosses fingers*
I got started a bit in 2007, went full-time in 2008, and have never looked back. Junior was the only name I knew, so I kind of kept my eye on him and ended up getting hooked. Some of my other favorites are Kes and David Ragan, Colin Braun and Brian Scott in Nationwide, and Austin Dillon/Ricky Carmichael in Trucks.
Hornish tends to wreck by himself far too often. He's unpredictably inconsitant. Truex is really the only name kind of up there who wasn't one of the usual suspects.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ekg In reply to NeverDance [2010-09-08 01:25:52 +0000 UTC]
lol. Yeah my friends and i get worried when Hornish is ANYWHERE near our drivers on track. He's a wreck waiting to happen. Kinda like Kurt Busch used to be...man it was like every race he was going to go around. By himself. Not sure what happened but he damn sure improved alot.
Looking back it was kinda funny how i picked Jr. We were playing Nascar '99 i think it was on Playstation when we decided hey lets start watching Nascar. My friend already researched some drivers and picked Jeff Gordon. He was like..hey you can go with Dale Earnhardt Jr...hmm...who's his sponsor? Budweiser. Ok. lol The rest is..history.
i think it's cool Carmichael is driving Trucks now. i remember watching him own in XGames.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
NeverDance In reply to ekg [2010-09-08 02:10:07 +0000 UTC]
Same here. I'm kinda hoping he can improve and stick around, because for some reason I'd like to see him do well. He's gotten a tiny bit better, but he still spins all by himself... Or takes someone else with him when he does.
Lol, perfect! I know of a lot of fans who picked Junior like I did. Your story is the first of it's kind I've heard, so it wins.
I didn't know of Ricky until he started driving for NASCAR, but I think it's awesome how he just dominated during his motorcycle days. What really got me into Ricky was an interview I saw with him on Trackside. Ricky doesn't just want to come into the sport and ride around: He's bound and determined to do well in this sport.

If memory serves Hornish did me well when ESPN had IRL fantasy game. Actually Montoya, Castroneves, and Papis did me proud...in IRL.
Danica was always on my team regardless if i knew she was going to do well or not.
But as for Nascar goes...i'm still on the fence when it comes to most open-wheelers. (i know it's a bit elitist thinking but i don't want just any racer to come into Nascar and do well...ya know? lol)
Ya know...i really should start reading some more of your devs. The Cars fanfics seem they could be fun.

NeverDance In reply to ekg [2010-09-09 22:43:36 +0000 UTC]
Drivers who have been excelent in open wheel seem to struggle in stock cars- Montoya is by far the best open-wheeler-turned-stock-car-driver. And it shows that you can't just pop into NASCAR and do well, because it's not easy like it appears to be. AJ Allmendinger said he'd thought that just turning left would be a piece of cake... But after he drove the car, he said he found it to be extreamly, extreamly difficult. As a fan, there's a bit of pride in that.
Well, thank you. I'm glad that you think they look fun, because that is one of my goals- to make them fun for the readers, and me as well. I need to write more for them... I haven't updated my little series in ages.

i love Cars. It's been quite awhile since i've watched it though. i used to babysit my godson and his little brother and they were Cars crazy. Watched it every single day for months lol.
Did they ever make a Dale Jr toy? He was in the movie.
Yeah Montoya is the best of the recent open wheel converts but don't forget Tony Stewart is a former open wheeler as well. In fact he used to do the Coke 600 and Indy 500 in the same day. i think he got too old for that. lol
How's that chunk of homework coming?

Cars is my favorite movie. I liked Cars before I even saw it, and before I got started with racing. That movie has made me a lot of friends, and I can't help but smile every time I see something Cars-oriented.
I believe they did, but I've never seen it (at least not in Wal-Mart or Target).
That is true, I forgot about that. Tony does quite well for himself- It seems that he can drive anything on wheels and be successful. If I'm up to date on my NASCAR history, I think Tim Richmond used to drive open wheel as well, and he was quite good with the stocks.
Slowly. Got geology to do, and a sizeable pile of English tonight. If I have not drowned under a pile of homework by the end of the year, I think it'll be a miracle.

ekg In reply to NeverDance [2010-09-09 23:51:06 +0000 UTC]
i think my favorite part in the movie is when Lightning finds out about Doc's Piston Cup championships. He goes over to the Mater and a few others and exclaims:
"He's won 3 Piston Cups!" and Mater: "He did WHAT in his cup?". That still makes me laugh just thinking about it.
And..you are right Tim Richmond did start with Indy. Which i didn't know. And apparently he was the first to go from Indy to NASCAR.
Hehe, i first read geology as genealogy. i was thinking what the hell? Yeah i was up til 3am again. lol
Just think. Someday...no homework. Unless of course you're a teacher then you have to grade the stupid stuff.

Lol, that part was awesome!I like the opening racing scenes the best, I think, and when he goes hurtling off into the patch of cacti. I just like Lightning in general, for some reason- He's funny, in a jerkish kind of way sometimes, but still funny.
I owe knowing that to The Ride of Their Lives. It has a pretty sizeable section on him. He was Hollywood before Hollywood was the norm. I wish I could've seen him race.
Sometimes I say Geography, and people look at me funny because that's a sophomore class.
I dream of those days often in times such as this. And I have no plans of becoming a teacher, so I should be good in that department.

The Ride of Their Lives i've never gotten to see it. i have GAC...not CMT. Which is cool cause it has more music videos but it took me forever to finally see Dale The Movie. But i got the collector's tin with like five dvd's so yeah..im good now.

Yes. And also when he challenged Doc to that race thinking he was gonna win easy. Didn't quite turn out how he expected it to, considering where he ended up. I haven't seen it in a bit, even though I have the DVD.
I have it on DVD. I only saw Dale... Last year I think? Or maybe it was earlier this year. It's a great movie. Lucky! I have a tin shaped like Junior's old car, with 8 little chocolate cars in it, (well, 7, since I gave one to a friend of mine, but I still had the wrapper ).

i was there jumping up and down screaming at the tv on that last lap. i just knew Jr was gonna win it. Battling with his team mate and his Dad behind him. Not his car owner but his Dad.
When i watched the movie 3 and as well as Dale The Movie...not afraid to admit i got choked up a bit. Still do when i watch it.

I've read all kinds of things about him, but I never saw him race. Everytime I see that movie, or read something about him, I feel a little bit heartbroken. Like I've missed out on something that'll never be duplicated, because they'll never be anyone quite like Dale again. I wonder if I would've liked him, or what kind of thoughts I would've had about him as a racer.
I need to eat the rest of mine. And the Reeses Cups I'm saving for his next win.

Before i even had any interest in Nascar i knew the name Dale Earnhardt. lol
Watching him race that season and a half was a treat. Had i known though it would be the last i would have paid more attention. Got to see the race with Kerry and watching three Earnhardts was very cool.
And Jeremy Mayfield spin him out at i think it was one of the Pocono races. Memorable 'cause Jeremy made the remark that when Dale does it it's ok but not so much so when he does it to Dale.
There's a poem i've been looking for last few days...the only Nascar related poem i ever wrote. i never wrote it down on paper so i have to dig through several old hard drives to find it. When i do i'll share. You might like it.

Same. The movie 3 was how I found out a bit about him, and how I ended up being able to recognize Junior's name before I really got into racing.
You're so lucky you were able to. ESPN Classic often has a bunch of older races on, but unfortunetly we don't have access to that channel. Sometime I'd love to be able to watch some of the older races and find out what I missed. From the brief clips I've seen, watching Dale race was really something.
I'm sure I will like it when you find it. You've made me quite curious about it now.
Got around to setting up my ESPN account... Time to get the notebooks out.

That collector's edition of Dale the Movie has at least one full race i think it was the '98 Daytona 500 win. Might have to dig it out and watch it this weekend. All this talk of Dale making me nostalgic.
If you cant coax your dad into playing around with the final ten races this year in the fantasy league, you could create a league and i can join. Or vice versa.
And i've still not found the poem. i'm afraid i hate to say it that it may be lost. Damn. Still looking.

iTunes has snippets of classic races, with the '98 Daytona 500 being one of them. Mulling over trying a couple out to see how they are.
My dad is just learning how to use the computer, so I'm not sure the chances are very good for bringing him in at the moment. About all he can do is check his stocks online, and that's only possible with my help. I'll try to catch him in a good mood and see- It may turn out to be something he's interested in.
I hope you can find it. I've lost entire stories from computer crashes before, and it's frusterating.

Hehe, well he could give you his fantasy picks and you could enter them for him. Then when his picks don't turn out quite right then he can say you put in the wrong ones...hmm. lol.
Actually had that happen to me once. My best friend's brother accused me of changing his picks cause i knew his login. Which i didn't do.

We could work it out that way, and I'll write them down so that he can't accuse me of changing them later. There are just certain drivers he'd never pick... Which gives me the advantage.

Thanks. Kind of wishing I'd gone with my gut and picked Hamlin, too. Something to keep in mind for later.
As far as the race itself goes, I don't think you missed too much. Still good because it's a race, but not one of the better ones this season.
I found myself rooting for guys I usually root against. The whole race was a lot more fun with my having to look out for my picks.
Oh yeah. If I can get him to set his up, it'll be like cake. ;D

How did I miss that? I guess I had the football game on too... Somewhat. Glad the Redskins won, not only because Mike is our former coach, but also because something good needed to happen for Junior this weekend.
Truex ended up finishing... 22nd. He wasn't really in contention for the entire race. Reuti didn't do much better, but only because he got spun by Kurt.
It's fun. I want to see how I can stack up against everyone else- Feeds the little bit of competitive edge I have.
I'll have to do that!

A Redskins victory is bittersweet for me. lol. My best friend is a life long 'Skins fan. Sooooo...i naturally give him grief for the fun of it. Until i found out Jr's favourite team is...the Redskins. 0_o
So i have to keep the ribbing to a minimum. But i despise the Cowboys for many reasons but one is that where i live in Louisiana there are more Cowboys fans than Saints fans. So....* whispers* yay 'Skins. lol
Uh...who is "our" in "...because Mike is our former coach"...Broncos fan?

Your secret if safe with me.
I never paid attention to the 'Skins until I found out they were Junior's favorite. I think he's testing today, and apparently their win improved his mood quite noticeably. And I like to see Mike do well, too.
As in the state of Colorado in general. I don't pay a heck of a lot of attention to football, so it's just easiest to say that the home team is my favorite.

Hehe, i commented on a cousin's Facebook status with alot of expletives and Cowgirls.i mean Cowboys. i'm so in trouble with half of my family now.
Yeah i like when Washington does well then i know Jr is in a good mood. lol.
Ah i didn't know you were in Colorado. My best friend's uncle has a lodge near Cedaredge. i tried talking my best friend in going up there for a few weeks during the winter...until i saw pictures of five feet of snow. Uh. Yeah...maybe in the spring. lol.
i'm actually hoping Shanahan can turn the Skins around. Just so my friend can rub it in his brothers face. lol

This is the land of snow, that's for sure. In fact, you can go through all four seasons in a matter of minutes. It usually snows from anywhere between October and May, but it depends on how much Mother Nature decides to dump on us. Skiiing is good fun, though, if you like the snow.
I hope he can, too, but mostly because I'd like to see him do well. Most of my family doesn't do much with football, so I don't get to have such fun, sadly.
