Hey, what happened to all of your old art?

I decided to give it a look for the heck of it, and it's all gone!

Female Catachan, that one with the Khorne cultist, Khorne renegade, and Dark Eldar in the same one, alot of the Imperial Guard ones, etc. I can't seem to find them....

Oh god.
If it isn't a straight up joke that you consider what you draw as "art" then obviously 4chan hasn't realized it.
Not to mention you're friends with torture-device.
Make sure you stay in deviantart.

if you are illiterate, tl;dr shut the fuck up and climb out of other people's asses. talking shit on aspiring artists doesn't make you an intellectual, it makes you a fuckwad

OHHH SHIIIT, WE GOT AN ART CRIIITIIC!

FINALLY SOMEONE IMPORTANT AND SHIT, THIS GUY SEEMS TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT ART! Let's see what works he himself has gifted to society.

www.deviantart.com/ashofthewil…

Oh wait..

There's nothing there. Yeah, I'd wager 20 you posted this because something salted up your day and you needed to vent and feel important.

I'm not going to pretend I'm an art expert either, but I know for a fact that talking shit about the creations of aspiring artists is generally seen as a dick move. Now fuck off and go feel important somewhere else.

Personally I believe he's entitled to his opinion, regardless of whether or not he can draw or has interest in drawing himself. I'm no film director, but I can have opinions about a movie.

I'm actually rather surprised by this comment since he has commented and favorited many works of mine. I think there's some kind of misunderstanding going on, what with the remarks about 4chan and me being "friends" with TD.

I do have some questions myself. What happened to a lot of your old works? I went back to whip some out when discussing alternative designs for IG and chaos troops, and saw a lot missing.

NicklausofKrieg In reply to Ashofthewilliams [2018-08-19 08:01:50 +0000 UTC]

Personally I consider myself just some asshole who draws on the internet. If people like it, that's on them.

Though 4chan does have the annoying habit of constantly recycling my really old drawings and or attaching meaning to them that I never intended. That's outside of my control.

And no, to say Torture-Device and I are "friends" is like saying you're friends with all your Youtube subscriptions. I watched him just as another source of 40k art and can only remember two times that I had spoken to him briefly, and from what I've learned about him over the years, I can confidently say I have no respect for him now.

Maybe I'll stay in DA, maybe i won't. It's not like there aren't plenty of other repositories of shit on the internet.

In your "second civil" war the south allies with Germany even though they were very close to England during the first one that they almost sent troops to help the south. So did you just do that because the uniforms are similar, or just because they both are considered the bad guys in the wars they fought. But over all love your work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NicklausofKrieg In reply to Brodudethagod [2017-09-28 03:26:23 +0000 UTC]

Nah, if anything I want to avoid an evil German stereotype, especially considering WW1 was much more morally gray than WW2. The Confederate soldiers having some German equipment was simply based on the idea that German arms and equipment were very common in the market, the Mauser rifle being something like the AK of it's time.

While Britain does send support to the confederates, it's just a trickle right now since they're still licking their wounds from WW1, and have their hands tied trying to contain a more powerful and more aggressive Red Army in Russia. Britain also doesn't want to make their hand too clear in America to avoid any hostilities from a highly technological France who have also launched "peace keeping" operations there.

Be warned this is a rather fanciful alternate history, so if more grounded stuff your cup of tea, I'm sorry if it disappoints.

There's seems to be a complete lack of uniformity in the Russian Ground Forces in some spots:

77rus.smugmug.com/Military/Com…

And it also seems that old equipment is a nice thing to have in the Naval Infantry:

www.soldati-russian.ru/dd/2000… (Is the soldier in the foreground wearing a Ssh-68?)

You seem to know quite a bit about Russian uniforms. Is this because of budgetary restraints, or just laziness on Shoygu's part?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NicklausofKrieg In reply to GARDENINGBLOBS [2017-02-18 03:08:55 +0000 UTC]

in regards to the first picture, dress regulations when at base is generally lax. You'll even see some soldiers still wearing flora camouflages rather than digital flora as well as previous patterns of uniforms. the guys in berets are probably corporals.

As for the picture of naval infantry, that was probably taken quite a few years ago. If you've seen the polite green men in Crimea, a lot of them were naval infantry. The soldier in the foreground is wearing the same helmet as everyone else in the picture, just with a camo cover.Β

The general gist is that the Russian army reuses old equipment when not doing anything serious, but since the recent reforms and restructuring, that kind of behavior is staring to be phased out.

To be fair, if you ask some of them, they find that the old foot wraps are more comfortable. Some even continue to use them into civilian life.

You're correct in that some still are fond of portyanki, though.

Also, about that experimental maska helmet, are there any photos out there if it in use? I'd love to see one.

NicklausofKrieg In reply to GARDENINGBLOBS [2017-02-20 09:53:34 +0000 UTC]

Ah apparently the helmets I was referring to were TIG helmets, they're basically K6-3s more than Maskas. Sorry, it's been quite a while since I've looked into this topic. TIGs were swiss made and bought by the KGB for use of the spetsnaz, the Maska wasn't made until '91 when Russia could finally make titanium helmets of their own. Before hand only Switzerland and Austria could make titanium helmets.

Here are some pictures nonetheless, TIGs afghanistan.

Anyways, just one more question about the original topic. The Chechen Wars( especially the first, seemingly) seem to have a general lack of uniformity for Russian soldiers. Is this because of lax rules like you said about those men on base, or just poor logistics?
