They're okay, I guess. They are much better than having spacers I must admit(but I was so use to spacers so it felt weird at first to have braces), it's the wire changing and first putting them on that was painful. The way my teeth are growing makes it vexing to eat sometimes. Overall, it's worth having. I always get excited when my teeth are in pain because I know they're growing or coming down or...Flipping over the right way. So no worries, because sooner than you know it you'll have them off before graduation.
Palette expander? Is that similar to metal spacers? Good luck! Trust me, after having them in for awhile they won't be too much of a burden.

Ohhhhhhh, okay. I'll attempt at not using them, mhm. Well, my metal spacers are inbetween my teeth. Like, inbetween my teeth. v m v; Yeah, i'm quite worried about the whole mouth-operation thing affecting how I plat the clarinet....it worries me greatly. Especially since i'll have braces before next summer-did I tell you of my plans? Sigh, I do truly hope they'll do better good in the end. Pa said I was practically white-knuckling it when they put the spacers in. but then again, I do get allrded out when it comes to peoples mouths, r their thumbs. Eep, it's just creepy. .....Oh, okay. That makes sens-you getting excited because you know they're conforming. Your teeth, I mean. Well, i'm hoping they'll be off before graduation, because they don't know yet. It depends on how well the expander works.
Um, it is tension based. Meaning, it's like a huge spring that goes in the roof of my mouth to make my upper jaw larger; apparently it's too small for my extra teeth. So, I have to have it on for approx. six months, then i'll get my braces. And if it doesn't work right, they have to pull some of my upper molars. So, it is similar, but it isn't.....
