Dear Oznerol, it recently struck me that it would be a pleasure to commission an illustration - and that it was, in fact, very foolish of me to have never previously done so (given we have been friendly for years, it was in fact quite unkind of me to have failed to send some of my business your way for which I can only apologise and ask your pardon!).
May I please ask if you would be interested in drawing up one of my requests for a fair price? (If you are interested, then my first request will almost certainly be a portrait of King Arthur, either as the first of the None Worthies or as the start of a series depicting the more famous residents of Camelot*).
*I'm actually sure which would please me better; we'll just have to wait & see.
Keep Well and please let me know if you are available & interested.

Oh well, I wouldn't say no to a commission, we would just have to discuss price and what exactly you want, haha.
And no worries, it isn't foolish neither unpolite of you, it's fine.

Master Oznerol, I hope that you've been well; I've been in an Arthurian frame of mind recently and have found myself thinking quite a bit about the Nine Worthies who are (in some ways) the OTHER Chivalric Order to which he belongs.
May one please ask if you have any thoughts on how you would depict these Champions of the Chivalric Ideal?

Full XIII century style. Completely anachronistic. But fun as hell to do.

I'd actually love to see you illustrate them all in XIIIth Century styles! (Would you use armours from different parts of the 13th Century world to indicate their different origins - for example showing Julius Caesar as an Italian Patrician of that age while Alexander the Great wears something Byzantine - or would you use European Armour throughout?).

Well we can add another entry (or series thereof) to my list of "Commissions to ask for, when I strike it rich" then!
(Actually I have a little disposable income available at the moment, but am currently foregoing commissions as my little sacrifice for Lent - only another month to go).

Hi, I have one question. Me and my friends are doing the village of Tolkien in Pyrkon in May. One of the attractions were cards with illustrations for coloring for children. Could I use your drawing, of course with the appropriate annotation.

Yeah, you can use it, no worries, with proper annotation, of course. Here's me hoping your event goes well and smooth and children have a nice time.

Master Oznerol, I'm not sure if you've checked through my Gallery at all, but one recently commissioned a series of illustrations depicting the Monarchs of the Seven Kingdoms at the time of Aegon's Conquest and I would love to read your thoughts on them (heck, I'd be perfectly happy if you simply enjoyed looking at them!).

I will post whenever I have more time and strenght (nasty seasonal colds)

Btw, viva Portugal!
Truly glad you guys won Eurovision! Quite a good victory, much better for me to witness our Iberian cousins' victory than some Slavic country winning it again.

Aw, thank you!! (well, it's not like I did anything but ya know ahaha!)
It was pretty glorious to win for the first time ever (finally!), especially in our language to boot! (there's just too much English in Eurovision, it's a real shame) And yes, it's really nice to see us from Southern Europe winning things sometimes too!
Pity about Spain's results, but from what I hear you guys didn't like Manel Navarro very much anyway? XD
Anyway muchas gracias for the kind words! (and for the 12 points!) Take care!

Hahaha! Yeah, I think everyone should sing in their own language, that would add a lot of diversity and layers to the festival. We didn't diserve 5 points, we diserved none at all, our candidate was terribly awful, no-one liked him at all, so I'm glad he ended last and Portugal won, fair ending.

I agree completely! It's one of the things that fascinated me when I saw Eurovision as a child - all the different languages and traditional sounds, etc. It's a shame that nowadays most songs are in English and all sound the same.
Ahaha! Portugal was the one who gave him 5 points so...sorry? XD But yeah, I heard about all the drama - maybe next year you'll have someone cooler to represent Spain in Lisbon! ;D

Having briefly evoked the name of Count Dracula under one of your more recently-posted images I have been moved to wonder - Master Oznerol, if you were asked to draw up a portrait of Count Dracula then may I please ask how you might choose to depict him?
What sort of pose? What sort of costume? Would you go by Stoker's original descriptions or go for something a bit more pop culture?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Oznerol-1516 In reply to Libra1010 [2017-05-04 14:24:02 +0000 UTC]
1890's clothing, with a very tall top hat. Probably with a cane and a cloak. Something closer to Stoker's description of an old man with white moustache.

At LAST I have found a fellow "Moustache Dracula" traditionalist! (one must admit that the only specific idea beyond "read the original description" which occurs to me is that while my take on Count Dracula is not actually Vlad the Impaler - if I remember correctly he basically describes himself as Magyar while the historical Voivoide was a Vlach, an ethnic Romanian - he is DEFINITELY his greatest admirer).
One idea that occurs to me is that you could depiction Count Dracula in Victorian attire, as though he were having a photograph taken for his carte de visite, but add an older portrait depicting The Count in more medieval attire to hint at his immortality.
I also like the idea that while The Count can rejuvenate himself by stealing the youth of others he never looks YOUNG per se, merely younger (so he goes from seeming to be about seventy to appearing a handsome fifty year-old).
Hmmm ... I had more ideas than I thought, but DRACULA has that effect on an imagination (just look at how many films bear that name and how greatly those films differ from each other).

Master Oznerol, before I depart for the night one wanted to point out a novel called THE RED KNIGHT to you - it's by a writer who calls himself Miles Cameron and the series of which it forms a part is just as good as the Dunk & Egg stories (or even better than that, if truth be told!).
It's tale is a fine mix of Chivalry, Political Intrigue and Mythic Warfare (with a strong, but not overwhelming Arthurian influence); as we await forthcoming works from Mr Martin, please allow me to recommend THE TRAITOR SON series not as a substitute but as a worthy work in its own right that will help tide you over until the release of the next novel from Mr Martin (and hopefully win it's own place in your affections besides).
