NO to boring classes where you spend an hour shading the crap out of a giant picture of a cup. I dunno, it might be good for some people but I can't stand classes, I like to draw what I want. Probably for this reason, I absolutely fail at drawing anything from real life. Or anything vaguely involving copying.

yeh i agree - its like wasting 100000 tons of graphite and trees to fill in a 5cmx5cm area with colour

hmm well i reckon its not really that important to be able to draw something from real life
the meaning of art is to portray what's inside your heart, not outside of it
so being able to draw something directly out of ur mind is putting skill to real use

lol yeah I guess you can say 'real art' is the stuff not just copied. But it still leads to serious problems, say, when I want to transfer stuff from draft to picture.

I have problems copying ANYTHING, well if I'm just copying a character in a not strict pose its okay because I can redraw them (note: not exact copy just redraw their features) but if I needed to do something like in this case where everything must be in the same size, same shape, same pose, same angles and composition relative to each other, = EPIC FAIL.
