At least the doctor's not threatening you. They're simply warning you to take precaution.
You could argue that God's doing the same, but eternal torture? Really? ... Who even deserves that?

Anyone can theoretically walk out of hell and reconcile with God. Satan just has to admit he was wrong and the rest he has bound to him will follow. Now, why doesnβt he do that?

Human nature is immoral, by that notion because religion is inevitable, because religion is where all the babies are. Unless secularism can somehow someday capture the cultural zeitgeist of the entire planet ALL at once and at the same rate, religion of one kind or another will always win in the end simply by outbreeding the non-religious. This is something that needs to chewed on if you want to figure out how to get along with the world at large and cultivate an environment that is the least intolerant for skeptics in the long run.
Say there is no God and that evolution is βthe only wayβ to progress all you want, evolution doesnβt care and will continue to play the cruel joke on you that only the (at LEAST Moderately) religious are psychologically capable of enough sustainable self sacrifice needed to keep breeding at replacement levels. I lean towards the hypothesis that religion is a subtle yet indispensable part of human reproduction. Using Europe and its colonies, in particular, as a long term laboratory is increasingly proving this.
