# About me
I grew up loving cartoons and drawing and making up stories. In the 2nd grade I made up my mind to become a Disney Animator, but I ended up with a BFA in Visual Communications and now work as a designer and photographer. Funny how life works out that way, no?I'm mainly here as a "Parlour Trick Artist" - someone who can sort of draw, but isn't nearly as talented as a real illustrator or animator. Most of my drawings are of various characters and their stories that I dreamed up over the years, done for fun and creative exercise. I welcome all constructive criticism and opportunities to improve.

Hi!
I'm a silent fan of yours, and I drop here every now and then even if I don't log in with any of my accounts You sparked the interest on ballet in me, even if I don't have the time to let it burn properly
(or you can just think that I'm a creepy stalker )
I decided to send you this message because yesterday I saw the last Ice Dances in Sochi 2014 and I thought you had to see the Russian pairing that danced the Swan Lake. Really, you'll love it!
Their names were Elena Ilinykn and Nikita Katsalapov, if you want to check it. Or you can see it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBM6ja…
Enjoy! ^_^
P.D.: If you know the series, doesn't it remind of Takenouchi's 'The Cherry Project'? ^^

Thanks! I'm glad you learned a little about ballet from me; it's a very dear passion. I did see the Ice Dancing last night and loved the Russian pair (I'd give 'em the gold if I could, haha). There are a lot of parallels between ballet and ice performance, and I don't doubt that all the Russian skaters have ballet training. There were a few other ballet pieces last night, too - The Seasons and Scheherazade.

More than learning about it, I started to actually pay it some attention. I like it like I like gymnastics and ice skating - it looks beautiful and graceful, but it takes strength.
Your characters and works have inspired me a lot, too. They had influence on some decisions I made for my fanfic, for instance. And I love your style ^_^
I hope your original works go well, too
I liked that Russian pairing for the gold, too I liked them far better than the actual winners. On one hand, I thought their idea was very original - I've never seen an ice dance as similar to a ballet as that one, ever. On the other, I sort of understand that the Swan Lake could not be considered very original by the judges
I plan to see more of them when I have the time, specially the Spanish ones. I've read so much about our new champion that it is about time I get to see any performance of his

Hi there
I'm not sure if you remember me at all - I visit your gallery every now and then and I have used some of your stock backgrounds, which were very useful, by the way.
Well, I am about to start a little research on ballet for a portrait - not very deep and detailed, just to get a general grasp and look at videos and photos for inspiration for the clothes - and I remembered that you were very interested in the subject.
I would like to ask you if you know about any website focused in ballet. The Wikipedia articles do not fit my needs and I haven't been able to find any on my own. Do you think you could help me?
Thanks ^_^ Keep up the good work

Thanks! Here are some good resources for research:
[link]
A ballet message board with a good mix of photos, ballet history, performance info, and famous dancers to use for reference.
[link]
Uliana Lopatkina is my favorite Ballerina and I reference her photos/videos A LOT. She was the main inspiration for Sailor Cygnus.

Mariinsky Theatre Youtube: Mariinsky Ballet is one of the best ballet companies in the world. Their YouTube is a mix of Ballet, Opera, Classical Music and Interviews. Mostly in Russian.
You can also source a lot of material researching certain companies or dancers, for example Bolshoi Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre or ballerinas Svetlana Zakharova, Aurelie Dupont, Gillian Murphy, etc.
Hope this helps!

Also keep in mind, a lot of ballerinas have different body proportions than a standard model. Heads are round, legs & neck long, and most professionals have some degree of hyperextension which gives the extended leg an s-curve. (think of knees bending slightly backward) Feet have high arches (the underside of the foot) and high insteps (the top of the foot is very curved as well). Here is a reference: [link]
