Hmm, now this IS amusing - as far as I was aware, deviantART was a place for fellow artists to comment on each others work, suggest improvements, and the like (was certainly why I joined). Now, if you can stand to listen to me as I have to you, I'l point out a few things.
Firstly, yes, it is my opinion that her artwork could use some work, just as it's your opinion that you like it - I have no problem with you liking it. However, I made suggestions, so that she might improve her work, I quote: "Your colouring is sloppy, the drawings look 2-dimensional (I'm aware it's a 2D medium, but surely it's not supposed to LOOK it?)". This was an open-ended suggestion that she might want to consider such things as neatening up her lines in her art, to consider shading to improve the overall appearance of her work. But, rather than order her what she should do, I have chosen to leave how or even whether she wants to remedy this up to her (as a mark of respect for her work. If you'd rather I didn't respect her work... well, you'd be being a little hypocritical surely?)
Secondly, despite your flowery denouncings of myself and others for commenting negatively upon her work, you then continue to insult our own. Does this not strike you as the least bit hypocritical, especially when I certainly provided elements she might wish to consider, something your comments lacked? However, I am well aware of my own failings as an artist, but this is why I accept constructive criticism, when my faults are highlighted (as I have respectfully done for Podlet).
Thirdly, no, my comments don't strike me as ironic - my first line was an opening - pointing out what the content of my comment was going to contain. I'm afraid that no art can really improve without criticism and praise in equal measure - telling someone their art 'rocks' and no more will yield no significant improvement, and as a fellow artist I would rather see someones art improve, than remain below a level it COULD reach.
Fourthly, I know I for one haven't 'ganged up' on podlet - I WAS introduced to her art by other artists I know, yes, but I commented in a way to provide constructive criticism. Perhaps I was a little blunt, but I'm afraid I tend to be blunt with ALL art, including, and in fact ESPECIALLY my own - art is a convoluted subject as it is, and flowerly language tends to complicate things (I've written this post in full vocabulary, to prove my point).
And lastly, to theoutkast, friend, did you consider looking at the dates when each of those you are criticising joined before you made your accusation? I'm the most recent member, have an art style quite unlike any of my 'gang' (a slightly edited version, removing profanity), and even joined some days before 'we' decided to 'gang up' on podlet. Now, as far as I'm aware, giving criticism to artists on here was no against
the Terms and Conditions (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, as I am new to this), but I'm fairly certain that the use of profanity IS against the Terms and Conditions, particularly when it's unnecessary and offensive. I have no real objection to profanity, but I would like to remind you this is a site that minors may access, and they may be affected by your language.
Now, I've been as polite, constructive and precise as I can be, but I will finish with one last (and still polite) comment.
I apologise podlet if I have 'upset' you, but as I have pointed out, I tend to be blunt about art. That said, your art does have POTENTIAL, if you continue to look towards improving it. I wish you a long and successful art career, and hope that you recieve praise AND criticism in equal measure, so that you can continue to improve.

If you want to give crit, you do it on individual art pieces. "Try pulling the arm in a bit there" or "this is a little wooden, try planning how the body will be first when drawing poses". That's decent criticism. Next time you decide to crit someone's art, please don't do it on their userpage. The userpage comment function is more for "hello, how you doing" and "I will watch your gallery" type comments.
Since you're new here, I'll assume you didn't know that; but keep it in mind for the future.

our outlook on art does vary, and in yours case is blunt. the comments i didnt take in a good way, and neither anyone else was the comments made by the other people like AlkalineDio. if people are going to be critical, let it be spoken in a more mature tone.

If you think her art could've used some work wygiwygaingwai, then why not have made some suggestions on how she actually she might've actually improved it, instead of just pointing out what flaws you saw?

There's a difference between constructive criticism and being as rude about people's art as possible. Pod may not be Monet but you know, she draws from the heart and she creates what's important to her, instead of whatever the hell she thinks will win her a few pageviews and a fanboy or two. Not only that, but she acts maturely around art; she doesn't say "this is shit", she tries her best to see good and positive in everything, even the worst art (heavens knows she's said nice things about mine before.
