No problem! I can't explain it other than I find it really captivating. The colours and I guess what it is that's captured in the image is what makes it appealing to me. Be weary for more favourites from me possibly in the future.

Haha, darn... ok, here's my... most of the time thought- YES, I couldn't agree more!! When I first got into the series, I was really a Raziel fan but slowly I've begun to side with both. Though rarely I like to argue against Kain's epicness, I know deep down, Kain is best. ((afterall, the game's aren't called 'Legacy of Raziel')) Vae Victus! ^^

shahriaremil In reply to Pretty-Inhuman [2011-04-07 07:11:50 +0000 UTC]
EXACTLY.
Ohgod. I SO want to see through all the videos once again. I recently wrote this essay, some development by definition crap. I specifically chose to define good RPGs. But it took all my willpower not to include examples from Legacy of Kain. Dialogue, gameplay, music, graphics, what have you not - LoK has it in epicness!
And yes! It's not Legacy of Kain for nothing! He is, to loosely say it, a God.
I was a little bit of a Raziel fan myself, but mostly because I started playing from SR1, SR2, BO2. And we all know how all kinds of crap BO2 was (Ohgod what a fiasco, I bet it's why LoK never got revived. ). But the more I read on it, the more I realized his character, and his objective, and stuff, it kinda clears up just how epic Kain is. And Defiance just grounds up his awesomeness.
But I have to say one of the best lines (there aren't a scarcity of these) in the game is: Vae Victis. Woe to the conquered. _I_ have the Heart of Darkness, and you go to oblivion!
You want to know something terrible?
Before you do -- tell me how it felt to see Kain suddenly alive after that confrontation at the Avernus cathedral?
Sorry, I just rambled on for like five minutes! It's been SO long since I talked with anyone about Lok!

Oh my God, no, no, thats completely fine! I can't remember the last time I actually had an epic conversation with someone about LoK :'D. But I find it crazy how you started out with the series. Actually, I started out with SR1 and so on too and than found out about the BO games.
Its funny how when I was little, besides the dark theme SR1 had that drew me in- I have to give credit to Melchiah's devolved form. The first time I saw him facing Raziel; I was blown away- since all the other games that I've played at the time were never that morbid yet... original and unique. Then onward with the games my respect for them grew. Plus the voice actors like Simon Templeman, Tony Jay and Michael Bell were spectactular ((especially Simon's for Kain's voice)) unlike a lot of other games where the characters sound so cheezy.
Haha, I'm so glad you asked that question. Though I shouldn't have been surprised, I was caught completely off guard and thrown back by it. Then again Kain "was always considered heartless" ((my favourite line from Defiance)) XD Might I ask how you're reaction was? How was it like for you when that happened?

Pretty-Inhuman In reply to Pretty-Inhuman [2011-05-11 02:47:45 +0000 UTC]
When it first came out, I was told that SR2 wasn't one of the best in the series but then again when I was younger, there was not many people I've had the pleasure of talking to who also knew and/or played any LoK games lol. I'd love to play it now but I'd have to order for computer if I can. Its kind of funny that I'm not really a puzzle person but for some reason, I don't mind them in the series. I guess its probably also the idea of having someone come up and ask what I'm doing and I just answer in a really complicated way.
I dunno if you knew, but last year I read up that they were actually planning to make a new one for the series((probably like a Blood Omen 3 related one)) called The Dark Prophecy but later they cancelled it. Its so torturing that I really want them to make another game but at the same point and time I don't. Of course there's the obvious reason why it should be continued but also there's also that fear that makes me wonder like; 'what if the game is horrible or it ruins the whole series?'
I've never played any of the Uncharted games but ever since I saw the trailer for that one, I always had an eye for to play it sometime... which happens to be not yet to this day XD haha

Here's how my history with LoK is.
I was little, I watched my brother play SR1 for a bit, but he stopped playing 'cause of some glitch or something. Plus, no videos.
He got SR2. I watched him play through the entire thing, along with this other buddy. We wouldn't let him play if we weren't there.
So, we did the whole backseat gaming thing. It was AWESOME. Just effing mindblowing.
I didn't care THAT much about chronology as I do now, of course.
But anyway. BO1 was just too old to play.
And we couldn't find SR1 anywhere. Soooo, we read transcripts. XD
Which kinda ruins the game experience. =\
But we still got the story down.
I think I replayed SR2 a few times.
BO2 came out - and what a horrible fiasco that was. I still finished it of course. God, what a fiasco.
And I had no idea that there'd be a sequel. So one random day, I go to the website, and BAM. NEW LOK GAME!
LoK comes out. I buy it. I try to run it. It doesn't work... Because we didn't have a card powerful enough. Now, I was about 11 at this time. I knew little to nothing about hardware and computers and as far as I was concerned, I'd never get to play that game.
Sooo... I read the transcript. -________-
I mean, don't get me wrong. It was epic surprising. I was all wootholycraphe'sstillalivewhathappened? But I think the experience would have been ALL the more awesome if I was playing it.
And yesss. That line is AWESOME.
"Do you so enjoy death?"
"Yesss..."
"Raziel?! Noo."
"Yesss. This is how..."
Omigod. SUCH AN AWESOME SCENE.

True, but not a bad thing. That's what I kind of did for the bits of SR 1 and 2 that I didn't get to see when my cousin wasn't around to play it ((since she owned them and not me XP)) Such big words they used but hey- its learning at the same time right? haha!
Basically my LoK life disappeared for quite some time afterwards until I saw Defiance in a game store one day and was like 'They made a new one?!' haha, after I played it, I just stayed hooked, making fanart, fanfictions and all that stuff now. Though I never got a chance to play SR 2 :/. Even if its not the best of the best in the series, it would have just been fulfilling to have said I played it. I agree about BO1, I watched some gameplay of it on youtube to see how that was and I wasn't really interested to play it.
Haha, God that scene surprised me. Was pretty bummed out that Raziel died but at least it wasn't in vain. I really love though how they ended it overall too... just like an epic movie:
"Most ironic of all, was the last gift that Raziel had given me. More powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision his sacrifice had given me. The first bitter taste of that terrible illusion: Hope."
and then it like just zooms out and fades to black, priceless.

Amagad, yes! I have a bunch of friends who are really interested in LOK. Like me.
We sometimes veer off into reminiscing thoughts about LoK.
SR2 is actually very good. You should definitely play it. The puzzles are amazing, which was a sad thing about Defiance. The puzzles sucked. It was a sub-par production. I STILL hope now that they'll make sequel. It hasn't ended, yet! The Hylden are still around doing whatever crap they do!
And that ending scene was SO sad. Raziel's only proper deed in the whole series.
"The first bitter taste of that terrible illusion: Hope." SO much epicness. When I go home for the summer, I'm going to get the videos from my friend and watch them all again.
I have SR2's intro almost memorized.
And Defiance's, too. XD
Narrative brilliance at its best. I want to play Drake's Fortune solely for the fact that Amy Hennig wrote it.
