Out of my head, though it's certainly got a lot of inspiration from existing things - post-apocalyptic tales like The Last of Us and Mad Max: Fury Road, Arthurian legend (which I'm mostly specifically fond of the roleplaying game Pendragon), general YA lit, reincarnation stories and gender-flips.

It's always changing (projects rarely last more than three months), all over the map as far as genre, and I like my coworkers! So it's pretty good.

Probably depends on the size of the company a bit, but mid-size and larger seem to do both! At least, mine has in-house and outsource artists, though the outsourcers are typically embedded in an outsource art company.
