Wow. Is it hard ? Art school, I mean.
I'd like to go to a school here in New York, but I'll probably end up heading back to the south and going to a school in Birmingham to save money for a decent film school.

It's arduous. Each one is different. Mine is like, totally not commercial. It's all conceptual and idea-based. You could graduate without a clue what you'll be doing for your life lol But a couple blocks down is Columbia College, TOTALLY commercial based. You KNOW what you're doing the rest of your life. Like at my school I could major in two totally unrelated things and they'd have no issue. But it's hard, as any art school would be. It's just there's so many assignments and so little time. That can be both fun and terrible as you can imagine.

See, I want to go to a school that doesn't try to tell you what art is. Art is completely idea-based. You can't literally plan on it - at least real artists can't. That's why I'm kind of worried about having to do all the assignments, because my creativity comes in waves. I can't just draw or pick up a camera unless I'm utterly inspired. I guess I'll have to force myself to be able to, though. haha

I like the school for that, they will never tell you that something isn't art. Well.. that's a lie. Cause some of the work is truly just hacked out just to get the assignment done. Some of the kids are just... yeah. I don't know why they go there. Like I'd be with someone the night before something's due and they just throw something together while watching House or something and say, "Yeah, this is total crap" and have no meaning/effort. Then the next day they'll make up a 10-minute explanation of what it means. But teachers here are smart and can tell when you're lying out of your butt haha

I'm the same way. If I have no inspiration I'm not going to make good art. To be honest I just deal with it. I try. I try my best. That's what counts with those lol The assignments are like, unbelievably specific but completely up in the air. It's weird. Like you must do this, this, this.. but do it in whatever material/media you want. Or do a drawing of a map.. now interpret!! lol

I don't understand people like that at all. You call yourself an artist, but if you don't put even the slightest bit of heart into it, you know it'll come out as pure shit. I always want/hope for the best. Do I always get it ? No, of course not. But at least I try, you know ?

Wow, that's really confusing, yet very understandable. I enjoy projects like that. They make me think, and want to exceed my expectations of what I can do and how far I can push it.
