Back from a field problem and about to deploy in a few months. I'd be doing better if my boyfriend hadn't deployed the same day I got back, but at least I got to see him before he flew off. I'm doing pretty good, overall. And yourself?

I guess you're both in the military then? (Forgive me if I've just been unobservant before!) I've had ups and downs, but doing pretty good myself. A promotion (yay!) got me placed onto night shift (boo!). Otherwise, it's my age old lament: "I'm not writing enough! Waah! I'll open up Word and address that right- ooo, new cartoon!"

Nah, you're not unobservant this time. I don't talk about myself much here. I have enough journaling/social networking places to keep up with, I don't feel the need to update all of them regularly. This is just where I put the art I'm proudest of (if I ever get it computerised :shifty eyes: ) and stalk artists far more talented than myself.
I wish getting promoted meant I got the night shift, then I wouldn't have to put up with my dickish motor sergeant and I'd be on the schedule my body tries to put me on anyway. Seriously, every four-day weekend screws me up because I'll stay and get up later and later. My favorite time of day is dawn, but I like it to be the end of my day. I'd be completely nocturnal if I could.
I wish I were drawing more, but I haven't had any inspiration for a while. Same for my writing. Maybe one day I'll get back to the novel I've been working on for years. I think it wants to be a sci-fi conspiracy-theory mystery. (Certainly beats torturing my heroes for no reason just to have conflict and saves me from looking homophobic, since it centers around a gay/bisexual teen couple. And I don't want to write a romance. It isn't meant to be a coming-out story, either; there are enough of those, we need more incidentally gay/bi heroes in fiction.)

To me, this is a place for fandom-related chatter. I don't reveal much about the responsible, grown-up nonesense that dominates my time while media obsessions dominate my brain.
I am good at staying up late and I had an ideal schedule- most days I worked 7 to 3 AM. The daylight hours when I woke up were mine, I came in around or shortly before sunset, went home and went to bed in the dark. A bed time around 4 AM was perfect. This going to sleep at eight AM is not working so well.
I hear ya! Right now, coping with some RL stuff has really killed working on even my fanfic. It's stupid how much I want to get back to that- if I want to write, why don't I just write? It's amount my mental state, really. Sometimes writing is a good coping mechanism for me and other times it isn't.
there are enough of those, we need more incidentally gay/bi heroes in fiction.
Yes, we do! We need more gay people in the media who are just being people. We need that for a lot of diversity catagories, actually, but "catagory" is part of the problem, isn't it? Because once you have a "catagory", you have requirements and standards and the sterotype baggage.

Thanks for the +fav!
(Are you by any chance "prongs" on a certain MST3K-related message board?

Yeah, that's me! It's a nickname that grew from a silly joke made at midnight in Walmart. (Midnight at Walmart: the time when all the weirdos come out. Case in point. ) So there's a good chance running across "Prongs" or "JRProngs" means you found me.

Hey, thanks for the favorite, it's the only thing that works on our artist anymore. We're thinking of upgrading the cattleprod. Keep an eye out, you never know what we'll do next!
