Sard have you ever seen photo texture work in concept paintings done, and what is your opinion on it? (i'll link an example)

I have seen it done but I dont use it myself.
Its a very quick way of working and a great tool if you have tight deadlines but I feel its a bit like cheating when you are learning to draw/paint like I do. So I prefer doing it the hard way and do everything myself. Maybe in the future when I consider myself decent enough at the things that I draw I'll start using this technique.

Yeah Feng Zhu always says when you do things as a student is even things like painting out errors rather than just ctrl + z because its important to do things the hard way first, know how to do them, and then take hte shortcuts. I like your thinking on it, you already mimic the mindset of a pro concept artist like feng haha
