Hello Everyone :]I am a professional sculptor out of Columbus, OH. I have worked in special effects as well as general sculpture and dimensional advertising. I have a small team of talented individuals who work for my ad business...but you'll find my more fun stuff on this page :] The next six months I'm focusing on parody of Hollywood classics and celebrities...and hopefully will be touring late next year. But until then, please enjoy some of my works!!

Hey dude!
In my art classes I have to do some kind of research paper / skilled work (don't know the exactly word for this). I can choose my topic on my own. I want to create some fantasy-characters by myself not only drawing them but building them with some kind of fictile or clay. Would you please tell me which kind of material you use? My teacher said that the material would be too expensive for my work!

Thanks :] I actually studied under jordu schell who was the lead sculptor in Avatar :] But to answer your question, if I were you, I'd start making things out of super sculpy. It pretty inexpensive and you can cook it in your oven and paint it once its cooled :]

The best thing to do is look up YouTube videos on how to build the armatures and other techniques. It's not hard to do, it just easier to see it done than for me to spell it out :]

I usually use a water based clay because it's cheap and quick to work with...especially to do larger pieces, but its more of a personal preference. Super Sculpy is amazing to do smaller things, but Tom Kuebler does large things with Super Sculpy, but that comes with a price :]

Yeah, I scroll through the contests about every couple weeks. I got pretty busy with a couple commissions and galleries around town...and just setting up supplies, kinda sucks when the school isn't fronting the bill anymore :] But ur advice has helped a ton...especially just getting out there and doing what we like to do :] I have a couple little questions on some materials but I'll condense them down once I get my head back on straight :]
