I was just wondering, because a couple friends of mine recently started an AU 'Fable' roleplay group, but it hasn't really gotten a lot of attention, and we REALLY need more members. I was thinking that you would make a spectacular Ben Finn, from how well you write fics in his point of view.
If you're at all interested, there's more information in my journal-- we'd love to have you-- but if not, that's cool. I understand that people have lives outside of the internet. xD

It totally did! I went "Wait, what's this? OMG more Ben art! *squee* " It's so rare to actually see any art for him, not like the other games I follow fandom for. (I'm late to the party because I play on PC. :< )

The fact that you squee'd from my art makes ME squee. x3
And yeah, even rarer to find GOOD art for him. Reaver's an attention whore and hogs the spotlight. (And it's fine-- just glad there's more Ben fans out there to nerd out with.

Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-13 03:31:10 +0000 UTC]
As much as I love Stephen Fry, Reaver is reprehensible and an utter deviant. I will hear nothing to the contrary. I liked him far better in II, especially when he shot the final big bad because he talked too much.
I adore Simon Pegg. I was so sad that I couldn't marry him. I have a tendency to latch on to characters that aren't as fleshed out (as you can probably tell from all the Sebastian fic in my gallery. <<).

Catherine-Cairo In reply to Silvy [2011-06-13 04:18:26 +0000 UTC]
Exactly!
Don't get me wrong, I love the guy in all his douche-y glory, but I always, ALWAYS, keep in mind the fact that he's a complete and utter dickhead who only cares for himself. Always.
None of that "OMG, THE PRINCESS TOTALLY MAKES HIM CHANGE HIS WAYS, BECAUSE SHE'S SO BYOOTIFULL AND AMAZIIING~ AND THE PRINCESS LURVES HIM EVEN THOUGH HE'S EVILSJBDGYGVDFKHVBUIODFH" NO. I hate that.
So my princess (Lyra) Hates his guts. But yeah, I loved him in 'Fable II', even though he continually stabs me in the back. He did piss me off a few times, though. And yeah, the first time I played, he shot Lucien. I was so pissed, because I'd had him in my sights, and was just about to shoot him!! xD
Oh god, before the game was released, rumors were floating around that Simon Pegg's character would be romanceable. I thought that was cool. Then I saw art of Ben just before the game's release, and was ecstatic. Then I played the game, and practically came in my pants. Then I found out he wasn't available, and threw a bitchfit. Aurora DID NOT help.
(Unfortunately, I've yet to play any of the DA games. I don't often have the funds for keeping up with gaming, so I'm pretty behind. DD: )

Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-13 11:24:08 +0000 UTC]
Well, for one thing, it's completely out of character for Reaver, which just...ugh. He's oily, manipulative, and willing to say anything to get what he wants - then he leaves without fulfilling his end of the bargain if he can. There is no way that Reaver would change his ways for anyone, not even the Princess. I'm sure he still has fond memories of her mother kicking him in the crotch when he suggested they take a tumble, too. <_<;
I was mad because I wanted to hear the end of Lucien's speech. I was all, "Okay, so we let him monologue, then a ridiculous boss fight and - REAVER!" I laughed pretty hard at it, because I wasn't expecting the 'shut up, Hannibal' trope to come into literal effect.
Yeah, I'd heard those rumors. I never got to play on the 360, because the fiance and I parted ways right about that time. I took the computer, he took the 360, and it dropped off my radar until the game was released for PC. I was cool with Ben up until Aurora, thinking him a good buddy, and then the desert happened. "OMG WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN'T TAP THAT. HE RESCUED ME. THAT IS SO UNFAIR." When I think something's unfair, I scribble fic instead. It helps me cope.
(You're in luck when you decide to get it! The first game has been released in an Ultimate Edition, and you can get both Origins and Awakening plus all the official DLC for like...forty bucks, I think. If you play on PC, keep an eye out for Steam sales this summer. They might drop the price even more.)

Catherine-Cairo In reply to Silvy [2011-06-13 12:17:26 +0000 UTC]
Exactly!! I mean sure, he might say otherwise if it meant a crazy night of sex or something that benefits him in some way, but that's about it. He may have been decent Once Upon A Time, but that would have had to have been a LOOONG time ago. He's a debauched, nihilistic douchebag, and I'm pretty sure he's not changing any time soon. But dammit, he's too awesome for me not to like. xD
Oh yeah, me too! Much as I hated Lucien, I love villain speeches, and when Reaver stole that from me, I couldn't freakin' believe it. Oh my god, TvTropes is amazing, by the way.
Aw, that's too bad-- but at least you can play it now!! C:
And I really liked him from the start, but I wasn't hooked as bad as I am now until that scene. And try as I might, I can't write for crap past scripts and such, so I read other peoples' fics instead! (I finished 'Rosewater', by the way-- fantastic stuff!)
And yeah, I've been keeping my eye on that-- that'll probably be the next game I get, after I can scrounge up the money for 'Alice: Madness Returns'.

Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-13 12:43:51 +0000 UTC]
I think the Shadow Court ate away what was left of his humanity. I adore Reaver, but any relationship you start with him is going to be one-sided, at the very best. He'll play with you until he gets bored, and then you walk into the bedroom to find chickens on the covers, a goat in the corner, and a Hobbe in a cage looking incredibly traumatized.
I didn't link it, I'm not to blame for the whole day of non-productivity that follows!
I tried to deny him at first, because I had a chorus of my DA fandom friends in my ear over Skype - "You'll be so mad because Ben isn't romanceable!" I tried to ignore him, but...but...Simon Pegg, and that BLOODY WINK HE GIVES YOU AT YOUR CORONATION. UGH. Whyyyyy. (I'm glad you liked it! I'm working on a sequel for it soon.)
It's well worth it, definitely.

PSHH, I'LL ONLY BE THERE FOR A SECOND.
Fortunately, I'd stayed away from anything Fable related until I finally got to play it-- but that didn't make things any better. And I LOVE that look. Everyone else is being respectful and reverent, and Ben's just all "HELL YEAH, GOOD JOB, MAN! " (Oooh, I can't wait! )
Hahah, well, it's a BioWare game-- how can it NOT be worth it?

YOU SAY THAT NOW.
"Good luck in there, I hope the crown fits." I flailed. Ben, why must you be so awesome and untouchable? I chalk it up to him feeling inadequate because of his birth. BUT THAT'S OKAY. I MADE IT BETTER. My queen gives no fucks about blood. Hell, her family didn't come into power until her mum bought the castle, anyway.
Keep that attitude until you play Dragon Age II. While it's a good game, EA made them rush it out the door and the ending is lackluster. I miss games like Baldur's Gate. /jaded

BUT OF COURSE. IT'S NOT LIKE THAT WEBSITE'S A NEVER-ENDING VOID OR ANYTHING.
Y'know, the funny thing about that is that if you look closely, the crown is actually slightly larger than your head. Freakin' Logan and his big head. Mine doesn't either, though she's slightly more, erm. . . I guess you could call her demure, for lack of a better word. She still retains some of her Princess-y traits, but not many.
Yeah, I heard about that. . . But of course, that's just EA, y'know? They're always pulling crap like that. Same with Microsoft.

Wikipedia is worse for me, no lie. I looked up falconry techniques for something I was writing, and then all of a sudden four hours have passed and I'm reading about Brazil. WTF.
Haha, a friend of mine was going on and on about Michael Fassbender, because he plays Magneto in the new X-Men movie. I broke her brain with "You know that's Logan, right?" She hates me for being able to recognize voices. I ruined him for her, mwahaha.
Ellie can be demure and polite, but Ben is a bad influence. (Or the best influence. I haven't decided.) She will do what's right, and is a ruler with her own merits. She's just very blunt from all the crap she's gone through, and she's a no-nonsense kinda lady anyway.
I cried when they bought out Mythic Entertainment and canceled my Dark Age of Camelot subscription. I couldn't abandon Bioware, though. Still mad at DA2.

I dunno' if Wikipedia's worse for me, but I can still relate.
Dude, every time the commercial for that comes on, me and my roomie can't help but yell "THIS IS MY ALBION!!" It doesn't help that the actor who plays Beast also play Elliot. I haven't gotten to see it yet, though. :T
Ben is ALWAYS the best influence~ xD
It's always so cool seeing how the same character changes from person to person. I love seeing other peoples' interpretations of the Prince/Princess. . It's really interesting.
I never played that one. . . Heard it was pretty good, though. And I generally try to stay neutral about games until I play them. . So I'm not trying to look into DA2 too much until I've played the first one.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-14 03:36:52 +0000 UTC]
I haven't gotten to see it either. (I feel bad now because the same friend I taunt about Logan I also taunt for sparing Elliot. He's such a weenis. ) Logan's speech always gave me a shiver. Fassbender can deliver a soliloquy with the best of them.
He likes to think he is. He's been clamoring for attention while I write other things, however. That will get him spanked. ("Promises, promises.")
I love characters who develop their own personality for me over time. It happened with the Warden from Dragon Age: Origins, Hawke from DA2, and the Princess. I started a Prince playthrough, but I can't tack down his personality yet. Of course, I put a lot of thought into backstory, especially while I play. I'm constantly looking at plot and breaking apart characterization, because I find it fascinating.
It was a blast, but it suffered from the same problems as most MMOS - the end game was terrible. Play them both, because both have their merits. I love both games, no matter how hard I bitch about the second one. DON'T LET IT FOOL YOU.

Catherine-Cairo In reply to Silvy [2011-06-14 04:29:03 +0000 UTC]
I actually like Elliot, to be honest. Though, I like Nicholas Hoult too, so that might be why. I also kinda' like Adorkable Woobie characters, and Elliot mostly definitely fits those tropes. xD
And oh yeah, Michael Fassbender is freakin' awesome. I really don't think anyone else could have done Logan any justice.
And yeah, same here! I'm trying to write an original plotline for a comic idea I've been expanding upon for over two years now, and next thing I know, Ben pops into my brain. Spankings are in order indeed~
I know! I always design separate identities for all of my customizable PC's-- I can't bring myself to play any other way. That's probably why I get so attached to in-game characters. It's awesome to not only play how you want to, but also to put your self in another person's shoes for awhile. I played both 'Mass Effect' games on end a couple months ago, so my roomie could see the game. They got me to answer to Shepard a couple of times, much to my embarrassment. xD
I'm not really a fan of MMO's. The only ones I've ever played that didn't immediately make me want to shoot myself are Ultima Online and LOTRO. See, that's the same way I feel about the Fable games-- I love them to DEATH but boy do they irritate me sometimes.

Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-14 04:45:02 +0000 UTC]
Elliot is all right, but I was predisposed to sacrificing him because I tend to run toward the uberparagon options in games. Full paragon Shepard, paladins in the D&D verse, you name it. Sacrificing one to save many is the name of the game, and so we said goodbye to Elliot before he even got screentime. Logan is a traditionally tragic character, and my friend and I have decided that Theresa set him up to fail to place the Hero of her choosing on the throne. She only shows us what she wants us to see before we take the crown - Logan becomes a tyrant for several good reasons, but all we see are the consequences. We don't hear about the Crawler until we hit Aurora. He's doing the wrong things for the right reasons. I think the Hero blood will manifest itself in him later. *plops tinfoil hat on head*
He does this because he's cheeky. He'll get his~
See, I do the same, and polarize against characters I agree with, and those I don't. I spend long hours arguing about it, too, haha.

Catherine-Cairo In reply to Silvy [2011-06-14 05:17:52 +0000 UTC]
I always play Neutral Good/ Chaotic Good characters. Occasionally, I'll go neutral. I can't stand playing Evil characters though, ugh.
I took a while making my choice, but I ultimately chose Elliot, because I was feeling greedy at the time, and I really didn't want another husband like the one I had in 'Fable II'. xD
Oh, I don't doubt that's what Theresa did. If she doesn't end up having ulterior motives in future titles, I'll be really freakin' surprised. "Ohai, good job on becoming ruler-- by the way, everyone's gonna' die in a year, have fun with that!!" And I think it would be great if he turned out to be a Strength/Skill hero. That would just be awesome.
Oh, indeed he will-- more punishments are always in order.
Me too! I think it confuses people who aren't used to watching me play. Especially when I have conversations with characters on the screen. Like, every time I go to the Sanctuary, I ALWAYS talk to Jasper.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-14 05:47:54 +0000 UTC]
I operate on extreme Lawful Good mode: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." While Elliot was nice, I wasn't thinking about the marriage options, I was trying to do the right thing, already sucked into the game.
We have a personal theory that Theresa is breeding a specific hero. (Also I may or may not be writing a Logan fic in the future, one where he ends up redeeming himself, at least in his own eyes.)
"You always say the nicest things, Princess."
"Shut up, Ben."
"Aw, you don't mean that...you love it when I talk. "
"Ben."
"Yes'm."
If I'm on skype, I get called out for greeting Jasper every time I hit the Sanctuary. Jasper is the surrogate mom, though - quietly supportive, always there, and he and Walter raised you. Walter is dad, the overprotective growly mentor, who makes the ultimate sacrifice in the end. (Plus they snark at each other like an old married couple.) Walter also being Theoden made me cry like a baby when I realized what was going to happen. I was so saaaaad. :C

Yeah, that's normally how I think too, but I couldn't bring myself to kill a unique NPC. xD
I like Elise a lot, too-- so in my world, they're like, twins or something, rather than just one or the other.
That would definitely be an interesting twist. Something like how JOB went after your hero in the first Fable to get the Sword of Aeons. (And that would be awesome. Here's a really good Logan fic, if you're interested. [link] )
Oh, that silly, silly man~
Yeah, I do that too. xD
"Welcome to the Sanctuary!"
"Ah, thank you Jasper."
"Dude, are you talking to the game?"
"Yes. . . . Shut up."
Hah, I can totally see that. And UGH, I can't go through either of those scenes anymore without thinking of the other. The LOTR trilogy is an old favorite of mine, and the Rohirrim actually happen to be my favorite culture. Either way, I cry. Hard. DAMN YOU BERNARD HILL, AND YOUR AWESOMENESS!

Silvy In reply to Catherine-Cairo [2011-06-14 15:33:17 +0000 UTC]
Unique NPC or not, he leaves you and goes on to have babies with someone else. He couldn't have, I don't know, waited for the year it takes to stage the bloody revolution? To be fair though, I think Walter had a hand in that one - "It's time for you to move on, boy. Your safety and that of the Princess depends on it."
Yeah, I'm playing through as a prince now, and I really have to wonder about Elise's hair. It's the most disgusting mass of curls I've ever seen. The model kills me because it looks like dreadlocks that have been left to sit. *shudder*
I have a feeling that's what they're playing it up to become. I hope so. Theresa for final boss of Fable V. (Oooh, this IS good. I'll have to read this later. *bookmarks*)
This is all I do all day, I have conversations with whoever I happen to be writing at the time. If it were any other profession, I'd be locked up, but being a writer means you can be crazycakes and call it 'inspiration'!
My dad and I have matching Rohan shirts. There was only one way to test the new surround sound system in my house - crank it up, pop in the Director's Cut of Return of the King, and flip to the charge of the Rohirrim. "Deaaaaath!" Bernard Hill is damned amazing. I immediately had to tab out and check when Walter started talking, because he sounded familiar. I flailed over skype for a solid minute. His death in Fable III made me sob like a baby, even when rehashing it in Rosewater. T_T

True, that was kind of a ham-fisted plot point on Lionhead's part, I think. That's a good way to think about it, though. I'm just mad that Elise has the ONLY MOVING HAIR IN THE WHOLE GAME. Seriously? You couldn't have animated anyone else's hair? Argh.
I hope so. . If we're left hanging on Theresa's motives in future installments, I'm going to be extremely disappointed. :T (I know, right? So few good Logan fics.)
Hahah, I totally understand. So great being an artist, you ALWAYS have excuses. "The hell are you doing?!" "I'm an artist. :T" "Oh, okay."
That. Is so cool. :U
Dude, every time that scene comes up, I can't help but stand up and shout with them. They're such badass mofos. And god, I know-- when I found out he was in the castlist, I was freakin' ecstatic. Hell, the entire cast is absolutely brilliant. It's definitely the best voice cast I've heard in a game so far.
Oh god, when I watched that the first time, I remember thinking, "If he says 'I know your face.', I'm so going to lose it. ; n;". I lost it anyway, though. He's definitely my favorite Fable character after Ben.
You did really great re-writing that scene, though. It made me cry again. ; A;

See? Far too much back story going on in my head while I play.
Huh. I never noticed that. Maybe it's because I always went with the short, almost punky hairstyle. I figure that if the Princess is supposed to be hiding, then the only thing to do is DYE IT BRIGHT RED AND CLIP IT UNGODLY SHORT. This way, they're too busy looking at her hair rather than the PERSON. Hiding in plain sight.
Molyneux said something about Theresa playing a large part in future games. WE'LL SEE. (The Queen's death made me cry. It's rare when I find a fic that can evoke a lot of emotion in me.)
Dad and I have the most fun. The Rohirrim are the best faction in LOTRO, I will hear NONE OF IT.
The cast list is just stellar. I love almost all the voice actors I heard, and I became a fan of Fassbender for the 'My Albion' speech. Walter's death was such a slap in the face, I was in skype and going "No, no no nonono." D: Walter struck a chord with me because I'm close to my dad, so I love dad/surrogate dad and daughter relationships. He and Ben are the best characters, followed closely by Jasper and Logan.
While finishing up Rosewater on skype:
*keys can be heard clicking*
*....sniffle*
"A-are you crying?"
"No."
"You ARE. You're crying. Are you writing Walter's death?"
"...maybe. Shut up."

I kept the braid style most of the game, but switched to the Long style once I finally found it. Only issue with it is that once I dye it red, it's more of a bright ketchup color than anything. Even when I turn the brightness down all the way.I'm still trying to find the bob.
She better. (I know, me too-- it really choked me up.)
HELL YEAH!!
I liked Micheal Fassbender before, but I liked him even more after that scene. I'm fairly close to my dad, but I'm closer to my mom-- we're more like sisters or friends than Mother and Daughter. Walter kinda' looks like my Grandpa though, who I'm also really close to. So that was kinda' cool.
I like way too many of the characters in that game. As can be seen in the meme I did, where there's like a jillion headshots smooshed in there. xD

Nope, the Bob and Long Hairstyles can't be bought, you have to find them You can actually buy the Long hairstyle in Understone, actually, but I'd already been able to dig it up before I downloaded that add-on.
I know, I'm really proud of how well I did on that meme. . . Other than how I messed up Ben's hair in the third panel, but whatever. All it took was getting out of the Anime/Manga style I've been clinging to since Elementary school. :T
