Oh gosh, this made my night, thank you so so much! ;v;
ahhh I still have so much to learn, but general tips for being awesome: draw a lot! have fun with what you draw! and never be afraid to try new things, even if it doesn't quite work the first time! <3 (that may have totally been rhetorical, but if you do ever have a specific art question please feel free to ask!)

Wow, thanks : D
It would be 4, not considering earlier years, when the only things I could do were weird potato chibi doodles in notebooks XD
Or should I say 4 years of digital art? I have no idea
Well, art fight was (and still is, we have a whole week left!) a great opportunity for me to try new things, experiment with poses and stuff. I even started drawing humans without my usual "i can't do it, screw this, who the hell cares" attitude XD
(I did. Just... go and check it out :') )

Hey, it's still all good! (and you gotta love the weird potato chibi doodle stage XD I still love all the weird tiny scribbles I put in all my notebooks!) And digital is such a great medium, though it can definitely be a tricky one; I think it took me like at least 4 years just to even figure out how to make nice lines with it XDD
And yeah, absolutely agreed on ArtFight; I'm gonna be so sad when it ends, because it really has been such a fun way to try new things all the way around! GOTTA MAKE THAT LAST WEEK COUNT... and keep playing around with things once it's over |Da But aww, it's awesome that it got you drawing humans more for fun too! Actually if I'm being honest I found myself in a similar boat; humans are REALLY hard for me [despite... most of my main characters being human] so yeah, it's really nice when you can set aside the frustration and just experiment! :D
(!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *excited yelling* OH MY GOSH ohhh, ohhh I love it!! 8DDD I'll give a proper comment on AF a lil later when I can compose my thoughts better, but OH MAN I'M SO HAPPY YOU DREW JAWZ, she turned out really good and this looks really cool (that pose!!!! that background!!! THE COLORS ARE SO GOOD) and I LOVE IT, thank you so so much! <3 *LOOKS AT THIS FOREVER*)

I still smile when I find them somewhere, they also remind me of all those epic stories I've created with an old friend of mine
I started with drawing in MS Paint and kept using it even when I finally got my first graphic tablet XD then I moved to Sai and it's the best for me, probably because I got used to it and know how to use it, unlike Photoshop
I like drawing for people, but I don't have much motivation to do that on dA. Most of those I'd like to draw for probably wouldn't even notice, not to mention consider a very unlikely optionof drawing something for me in return, because I'm not famous and absolutely not important here. On AF, everyone is pretty much equal and there are only those people who are willing to draw for others. Man, I've found so many awesome characters beloning to people I wouldn't even think that they exist! ArtFight's been a part of my life since I've joined and I'll be really sad when it ends :c
I'm not that bad at humanoid anatomy, I draw a lot of anthros and such, but I find faces quite difficult and my usual way of drawing eyes doesn't look good on humans. But I'm getting better with every single one I draw
(aaaaaaaa I'm so glad you like it <333 no rush, comment whenever you want. I get extasic when I see good stuff done for me and can't think about anything better than I LOVE THIS I LOVE YOU AHKLSJSAKJFSHJK and such. I need to calm down first and then comment, unless it was one of my buddies, so I can go crazy XD
I needed a reference for the pose, as limbs are still quite tricky for me... and hands will be the death of me. But, on the other hand (pun not intended), I love doing backgrounds, skies especially, and I really improved at clothes <3
i really don't know what to say, i'm just so happy you like it so much, it's probably one of my best AF works so far. I feel like I put more effort into attacks on people who draw better to somehow deserve their possible revenges and be okay with myself? idk how to call it, it just works like this most of the time XD)

(Ahh, I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back to you! 8'D I've been so exhausted and busy this week I haven't had the chance to catch up on dA; didn't mean to make you wait!)
It's always such a good feeling to look back, especially when there's good memories!
And oh man, SAI is honestly such a great program and has a lot of perks photoshop doesn't; I switch between both depending on what I'm doing, but SAI is DEFINITELY the best when it comes to clean digital lines (mine are so shaky otherwise, thank you built-in stabilizer), and the default brushes are great for blending and smushing around colors!
Also, aww! I'd like to hope that people would notice if you were nice enough to draw them something (I know I always appreciate surprise fanart, regardless of who draws it or what their skill level is!! even if I don't usually have the time or energy to retaliate with art of my own, I think anything drawn for me is really special and makes my day), but I can understand not wanting to expend the energy- it can be very disheartening to not even get a 'thank you' in reply when you've put time and effort into something. But yes, I have to say I really like the mindset and culture that ArtFight seems to have! I love that it brings together artists of all skill levels and styles, and it's such a fun way of doing little impromptu art trades with anybody who's willing. I've met a bunch of cool and nice artists already and its great; I can't wait for next year!
Ooh, I bet drawing anthros helps! But yep, human faces are pretty weird looking, not to mention some of the other proportions. XD But seeing yourself improve is a really great feeling!
(IT'S SO PRETTY, I keep looking at it and it makes me really happy!! Honestly it's one of my favorite things I've gotten this artfight. ;u; And thank you so much for being patient on my comment; I also usually get too excited to speak well for a while, and want to make sure I can formulate a proper response- there wind up being SO many little details that catch my eye, so I wanna do my best to share with the artist exactly what I like!
And reference is good to use! It is so helpful (especially for poses) and I wish I had learned that sooner, it's so important to build your inner mental 'library'. But anyway, I really love how it turned out! And the background and sky are so, so gorgeous, I can't get over the colors. ;u; <3
(also, aww! well, I definitely know the feeling of wanting to try extra hard to impress somebody; I often get a little TOO worried about how art for others will turn out, because I'm one heck of a perfectionist. But that's actually one thing I really like about ArtFight, people generally aren't expecting anything (let alone a perfect something) so you can just relax a bit and have more fun with what you make!)
(Also oof, I finally was able to catch up on a bunch of revenges the past couple of days, so yours is next! ;D

(it's okay! school's making some things difficult for me, so I feel you. I also might have less time and actually be too tired to do anything XD)
I've had some problems with Photoshop, so I stopped even trying to draw in it and I'm pretty much keeping to Sai since I've tried using it for the first time. Although I use the simplier version, I probably don't have all stuff from the "standard" Sai, but what I have it's enough for me. I don't use most features anyway, I have some I found they fit my style of drawing. I sometimes experiment a little, but mostly switching between my few trusty brushes and rather try new way of drawing something than a new tool. I only use Photoshop to make transparent backgrounds and blur effects, like for rain or buildings in the distance. If I try to blend such things with blur tool, it looks all messy, out of place and, well, crappy.
Maybe it's just me but all those famous dA people seem to ignore people other than those who are willing to pay them hundreds of cash for commissions or adoptables. I doubt some even go through comments saying that the work is great and such. I know a few that actually REPLY and not just a simple 'thank you' but a whole bunch of thanks and emotes and it feels like they really appreciate people liking their works. And other's are just like "eh, they love me anyway". Same thing on gifts and fanart. They might appreciate it but why won't they show it to those who put their effort into those works?
ArtFight was such an amazing experience for me and I'll surely participate next year! I still have a few attacks to retaliate and I hope I'll get them all done soon. Those people really deserve to get something back, so I'll probably spam my AF with chibies if I don't feel up for anything more. I'm tired and my back hurts c':
I actually very like drawing anthros, though sometimes even that is hard XD depends on poses and characters, though
(I've never thought somebody who draw way better than me would like my art so much you do and talk about it for so long ;o; usually I just get a few words of feedback and they think they're done. My friends sometimes do the same, but from their words it's like they'd like to jump into their screens, jump out at my place and give me a hug, they just can't find the right words x3
As I'm a bit uncreative with poses, I like to look for references to both have something different to draw and get the anatomy and dynamics right, whether it's feral or anthro character.
(I also care about details a lot, but depends on what I'm drawing and if I really want to spend so much time on it, like, if it's worth it or not. On my newest drawing I've spent hella long time, but because I really wanted to make it look good and detailed, but still clean. It was an experiment but turned out really good!)
(aaaaa can't wait to see it <3)

(Oh gosh, I'm so sorry for the delay again!! I wasn't expecting AF to take as much out of me as it did, and to be honest I'm still recovering and trying to catch back up. 8'D I hope school is going well for you though!)
Honestly, SAI is such a great program and so much more accessible than Photoshop, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone! I don't actually remember there being a huge difference between the trial version and the paid version but it has been a while; I'm glad it has most everything you want, though! Now if only it would incorporate the few things we gotta open up Photoshop for XD The blur effects are a LOT better in PS and it has an actual gradient tool, too!
Man though, I'm sorry you've had that experience with some people on dA; that is frustrating! Though, I would imagine that at least for some, it might be more that they're a bit overwhelmed by how many people want to talk to them? I don't know, I've seen some well-known artists that are incredibly nice but struggle to keep up; I can't imagine trying to keep up with the volume of interest some have, even if they're really happy for it! (Heck, I know I go through long periods of low/no responses because of health issues that make me super tired and difficult to focus on simple tasks at times; I can barely keep up with the really important daily life stuff at that point, let alone things online, even though I really really want to! I hope nobody assumes I'm just a jerk during those times 8'D) But then, I also try to assume the best of most people until they give me a reason to otherwise; I know I appreciate anybody going out of their way to draw me anything at all so I would hope others feel the same, but it's unfortunate to hear that apparently not everybody does!
Same though on ArtFight! It was great, and even though I'm still pretty tired out from drawing so much I'm sad it's over XD I hope you were able to get all the attacks done you wanted to! (I wound up having to do a few after AF itself was over myself!)
(Aww! Well, I still really love the piece you drew for me, a lot!! You put a lot of heart into it, and it shows. ;u; Plus you honestly did such an amazing job with the colors, I'm still delighted by them. The whole piece makes me really happy! <33 I don't know, I've never understood artists who can't get excited over other art even if it's not as 'good' as theirs; to me, just the fact that somebody took time out of their day, out of their life, to draw something for me- that is amazing. Not only that, but we all have different skill sets, and art really isn't as linear as people think- for example, I can draw some anatomy pretty well, but I see cartoony/stylized artists who draw the most wonderful exaggerated expressions and motion and I go, wow, I wish I could do that! Even if I could probably draw a dog 'better' than them on a technical level, that doesn't make my art more valid or actually better than theirs, just different; and I admire what they're able to accomplish a lot, and would love to learn some tricks out of their book. I think sometimes people forget that, and assume that 'more detailed/accurate' is automatically 'better art', but it's really not; there are SO many ways to draw, honestly, and so many things that can make a piece good. Plus anyway, none of us started where we are now, we're all still learning and growing and finding new ways to have fun with art, and I think it's important to never forget that- I loved the art I made when I was younger, I was proud of it, and even if I draw better now than I did then I still love what I made, because I was having fun with it and doing my best and doing some cool things with it- and I feel that way about other people's art, too. ...sorry, I have a lot of feelings on this topic, and I hope I worded them okay. XD That definitely became a tangent!)
But, I hear you on being a bit uncreative with poses! I have such a hard time figuring out something that looks interesting, or dynamic, or that I HAVEN'T drawn before- so reference is really helpful for that.
(That's definitely fair, too! It's okay to just make something fast sometimes, because you just need to get it down onto paper; other times, you want to put more time into it. (For a while I worried too much about everything being perfect, and art stopped being fun- which defeats the point, because what's the point of things looking 'good' if doing so makes it so you don't wanna sit down and draw in the first place? So then I only did a bunch of silly scribbles for months and it really helped XD But anyways!) I'd love to see which piece you're talking about though, if you feel like sharing it! :>
(also, I really hope you like how my AF revenge turned out, I still gotta upload it here! I was originally going to draw your 'sona for you, I even got a rough sketch down, but was having a hard time getting things to look right so I switched gears to another character. It was a lot of fun though!)
