# About me

Reviving Stamps Since 2011:

Dedicated to every stamp that has disappeared from my profile: ie, ones that are randomly replaced by the dreaded "deviation in storage" image, or those that for whatever reason(s) suddenly just can't be found at all anymore. I save all of my coding & every awesome stamp I've collected (lol, stamps can be such an interesting addiction! :D) so replacing them was not exactly difficult really...

But since doing so actually meant that I had to do all the coding by hand (embed the picture from a webhost & make it link to the original deviation page like a normal stamp), all the extensive markup got kind of complicated after a while... so many stamps keep going missing! Especially since html-embedded images do not align correctly with dA thumbnails anyway, making them look messy!

So instead, this account was started; mostly for my own personal use, but perhaps it will also become handy for others too. The main idea is to adopt abandoned stamps (this will depend on permission from the original deviants) or to re-create them (ones that cannot be adopted) so that they may live on for the deviantART community to continue sharing their opinions/feelings/etc with. All stamps will of course be properly credited as well... ;P

Thank you!!

I apologize for the confusion- the "hiding" is not meant to be a form of ignoring, it is simply an attempt at starting over. The profile NOW mentions permission for adoption because I am making an effort to change the way that it started. I will NOW be asking permission to host original ones, OR just making my own versions for ones that cannot be adopted. Since words and ideas are not "copyright-able" (only existing forms of them), simple stamps expressing the same ideas should not be a problem, especially when the previous versions are no longer available.

The reason I mentioned stamps being made to be shared, is because the opinions they express apply to such large majorities, so to expect to never see the same thing ever again when they are basically generic opinions that are frequently expressed in various ways, seems a bit harsh... when it comes to stamps. Example: "I can't believe I ever supported (cringe-worthy movie title here). I never want to see this stamp that I made or anything else resembling it or supporting that movie ever again!"

But I do realize now, that I at least acted too quickly in my excitement over this idea. This account might likely be abandoned soon anyways, as I have a ton of other on-and-offline life things I'm still working on already; if it is actually deleted, the only ones who'd lose out are fellow deviants who'd have to deal with missing stamps all over again... which sucks because these stamps do deserve to live on. Eh well, at least I tried.

I think you're exaggerating this bit far more than you need to. It's often not nearly as extreme as "I never want to see anything relating to this again ever" so much as the person in question either 1) simply no longer holds that view, period the end 2) doesn't really like the formatting of the stamp 3) or simply wishes to update with a newer version (be it at a later date or not).

Tbh, I don't think those "missing stamps" will be a major cause of life or death to people. If anything, a lot of stamps exist with the exact same wording as it is and even if they don't, it's not exactly a crippling loss to the DA community as a whole. But I'm glad you're revamping your methods.

I never compared it to "life and death", but the hassle of cleaning out over ten mysteriously stored or missing stamps on a regular basis gets frustrating, especially when you have to figure out their thumbcodes with guesswork and comparing the numbers of the ones next to each missing one... thus why this account was first created. Collecting stamps is supposed to be FUN, not work!

For accounts that still exist, there is always the option of Scraps. For those who have been deactivated, and cannot be relocated, should they stay lost forever? Well, apparently that is a more complicated question that I would have ever believed. But again, I don't want to be labelled as a "thief" when I have never maliciously stolen anything, and since I really have no problem making stamps by hand myself, I will work on going about this better from here on in. Thank you for your time.

Solution is quite Simple - Ask the original creators before uploading the Stamps. The idea itself isn't very bad at all. I appreciate my stamp back in the game but I simply had to remove it since it was taking up a status in my stats I didn't really want it to have.
Others though, might have removed their Stamps for another reason and might not appreciate them being re-uploaded.

And for those whose accounts are deactivated, and therefor cannot gove you permission - you could look for someone to help you create a similar stamp as a replacement. Im sure somewhere out there appreciates the idea and is willing to help out.
