Hey, hey, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
The only word that I can think of to describe you is epic and I am so happy and lucky to count you as a friend! And to honor your birthday, I would like for you to pick a god or goddess or any mythical creature or tale for me to write about that will be dedicated to you!

Awww, thank you so much! I've missed you so much, and it's so nice to hear from you again! Ah, so hard to choose, it's so thoughtful of you to do this! How about... the Tale of Genji? It's always been one of my favorite. Thanks so much, Gin, and hope to talk to you soon! I'll send you a text so we can talk

Arrgggghhhh! I am so sorry that it takes me this long to respond to you! The Tale of Genji is really an interesting story, but I don't actually think it qualifies as mythology and I am very hesitant in portraying it as such. So, if you would, I would still love to do this for you, but with another topic, please!

Just sort of starting, really. I have a cheap tablet and I'm still learning the ropes of digital art I'd like to improve a lot more, and I really need to upload some more recent stuff haha

That's really great! I never dared try digital myself haha. Do you like working on it more than traditional? Yes, that always happens. There is never enough time to get everything done

Stirack In reply to ani110 [2015-12-03 20:46:25 +0000 UTC]
Nothing will ever beat good old traditional art for me. It's so hard to compare the two because digital just feels so different. I think it just comes down to what is the most comfortable for you, but digital is definitly worth looking into if you're interested. Most starter tablets come with a Photoshop CD and you can find free programs online if you look hard enough. I use Paint tool Sai and I got if off a friend. Its a REALLY nice program, and works well if you have an older computer, too.

Hello my friend,
Please forgive my very late reply, I have been unable to get to DA
Yes I agree, I think Traditional shall always prevail. Indeed I would like to try digital, but as you say, isn't it very different from the traditional? Does working on traditional feel more comfortable to you?

Stirack In reply to ani110 [2015-12-19 04:26:28 +0000 UTC]
It's all good, bud
Traditional is definitely more comfortable for me, but part of that comes from the fact I haven't really forced myself to practice more with digital. The biggest thing to get over is that instead of looking at what your pencil is doing, you have to look at the computer. It's very uncomfortable at first. Digital art is much smoother, too, because instead of feeling paper under a pencil, it's just plastic on plastic. I have nerve issues in my wrist and fingers, so the smooth surface is a bit more difficult for me because I'm so shaky. The added friction in textured paper and canvas help me out in that respect.

Reading is my life I just got into opera seriously in the last three or so years, though. Phantom of the Opera and other musicals originally got me interested around six years ago, and I branched out into classical music and opera from there What are some of your favorite books/operas?

ani110 In reply to Stirack [2016-01-14 18:59:49 +0000 UTC]
Oh yes What do you usually read?
I recently got into Opera myself, but I have always loved Classical Do you have any kind that you prefer? Or any composer? I just remembered some musicals today! Have you watched 'The King and I' or how about Fiddler on the Roof?
Some of my favourite operas are La Traviatta and The Barber of Seville and I find that the Magic Flute is quite interesting in its context. Otherwise, I've only heard separate songs but have not watched many other complete operas. How about you?
Oh and please forgive me for the late reply, I am just settling in college

Good gracious, I dont think I would be able to do that, not looking at what I do!
Oh? Well, I think it is great that you do both types of art despite difficulties I hope someday I'll be brave enough to try digital too Would you perhaps say that one type is better than the other depending on the subject of your work? For instance, Traditional is better for portraits and Digital for landscapes, so to speak.

Stirack In reply to ani110 [2015-12-22 15:25:43 +0000 UTC]
Digital is definitely easier for landscapes. And coloring is REALLY fun digitally because there are so many types of brushes and textures to use. I have started getting more involved with digital sketching, but I still will always prefer traditional. Digital really is worth a try, though-- if you have the money set aside. A starter tablet is usually around $50.00 to $70.00 in U.S. dollars. My tablet, a Wacom Bamboo, was around $60.00, and I can't complain about it.

I'm gonna write you a quality fanfiction:
Once upon a time, there was a sad little boy named Jude. He had to pee very bad and then a man with a nice beard swooped in and said, "Hello, Jude, let us do The Thing."
And then Jude peed himself and they had The Gay Sex.
