It's just nerves I think that bind me. I said it took too much to be so short because I worked on it for a very long time. It took up all of my spare moments for weeks. It just had to be right. And still, I could edit more. Tweak it here and there. I finally had to give it up. Let it go. Maybe the sequel won't give me nightmares.

Also the thing abput Kip is that he's such a even personality. He calls it having a downtrodden personality and then laughs. But he's not downtrodden. You just can't tell when he's excited. He's on a very, very even keel. But it's so easy to tell when he hurts. His smile could power a city when he's happy. But I've never seen him look excited. I think his first wife B.'s death changed him a lot. And I'll never put that in a story. It's far too personal and painful to use. I want to skim it. But not touch it.

The same as Caleb went except that (not that this would ever happen) I want him to be working on the dock one moment and awestruck by Jasmine the next. I'd want his focus to be on how badly he wanted to take her right there in broad daylight, in plain view of the street, careless of passersby. He should talk to his idiot brother about her at the shop. Go to her earlier than planned. Take what he wants. I'm just unsure of the exact descriptions I'll use. I need to be graphic for Kip. He wants that. Somewhere I have to put his struggle against his own desire for her. Because Kip struggled. It's his and his wife's life fictionalized. It means too much to him to get it wrong.
