so what about the picture i sent?

StychoKiller In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-12 05:37:55 +0000 UTC]

Been waiting for you to explain yourself.Β  Would you like the picture converted into a counted cross-stitch
picture?Β  I have some software to convert it into a cross-stitch map.Β  Would you like to do the stitching yourself?
You'll have to supply what dimensions the picture should be, along with the number of stitches per inch -- any where from 14 to 18 per inch is what I would recommend (anything smaller than 18 would be unnecessary).

BossNigger91 In reply to StychoKiller [2014-01-12 08:51:34 +0000 UTC]

Counted? What do you mean? I would like it stitched by you because i don't know how to do it. Zoom in on the picture, every pixel should represent one cross-stitch.

StychoKiller In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-13 09:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Okay, allow me to explain:Β  aida cloth comes in various sizes. 14-count cloth requires 14 stitches to make an inch,
18-count requires 18 stitches to cover the same distance.Β  Your picture is 320 by 224 pixels in size, which is
71680 regular stitches.Β  That many stitches is gonna take at least 3 weeks of my time, not including hunting down all the various colors of floss and the aida fabric.

Some objects (such as the little viking) can also be outlined with back-stitching.
14-count cloth would be 23" by 16" in size, 18-count would be 18" by 12-1/2" in size.Β  Also something for your consideration, how many different colors would you like the picture to have?Β  Some colors can be created by blending different colors together on the needle.

You'll have to give some idea of how much the picture is worth to you.

Make it as big as possible. I want ALL of the colors. Is it hard for you to find so many different nuances?

Here's a link to one of common manufacturer (DMC) of floss: www.yarntree.com/075dmcolors.j…
Again I would ask (keep in mind we're talking about a month's worth of work), what are you willing to pay for such a picture?

BossNigger91 In reply to StychoKiller [2014-01-15 17:36:24 +0000 UTC]

I really don't know. What do you have in mind?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StychoKiller In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-16 08:23:06 +0000 UTC]

All right, how about $250 (labor only, I'll supply the materials), which works out to $4.17/hr?

BossNigger91 In reply to StychoKiller [2014-01-17 17:44:39 +0000 UTC]

Sounds a little too much. How about 150$?

I'm not that desperate for Munny.Β  I also have five other cross-stitch projects to do, should you believe that I just like the hobby.

Amazing work! We really don't have enough marquetry artist here on DA. But what I'm dying to know is how many of your works, if any, were of your own design as opposed to being reproductions of historical artworks.

Especially my Wife's Egyptian-themed Jewelry box.

Most of the Japanese-themed works are derived from Ukiyo-e wood block prints.
